PORTIMÃO: Se ubica en la antigua región de Algarve, en el actual distrito de Faro. Hay restos arqueológicos desde el Neolítico, y también romanos que la llamaron Portus Magnus. La localidad nace de la mano del rey Alfonso V (1463) prosperando con el tráfico comercial africano; pero el terremoto de Lisboa (1755) arrasó Portimão. Hoy es un centro turístico muy notable. Entre los monumentos, destacaremos la iglesia matriz de Nossa Senhora da Conceição (gótica), el Castelo de São João de Arade, el convento de los Jesuitas y la fortaleza de Santa Catarina. Entre los museos destacamos el Museo Municipal con colecciones arqueológicas. |
PORTIMÃO: It is located in the old region of Algarve, in the current district of Faro. There are archaeological remains from the Neolithic, and also Romans who called it Portus Magnus. The town was born from the hand of Alfonso V (1463) prospering with African commercial traffic; but the Lisbon earthquake (1755) devastated Portimão. Today it is a remarkable tourist centre. PORTIMÃO: En la localidad hay poco aparcamiento, pero en temporada media es factible aparcar cerca de los monumentos (Fuerte de Santa Catarina, museo de Portimão e iglesia matriz). El aparcamiento es gratuito. Vernur colabora con muchos ayuntamientos en la regulación del tráfico de sus municipios, evitando colapsar algunas zonas, lo que provocaría “Turismofobia”, facilitando a la vez el acceso del visitante tanto al aparcamiento como a los centros históricos. |

PORTIMÃO: La zona donde se concentran los monumentos es el Río Arade. Aquí podemos ver algunos monumentos como el fuerte de Santa Catarina, museo de Portimão e iglesia matriz. Es interesante dividir la visita en 3 sesiones (iglesia matriz, museo y forte de Santa Catarina). Te recomendamos aparcar cerca de cada monumento a unos 200-300 m. La visita a esta localidad se desarrolla por un espacio muy plano (alguna cuesta). Vernur recomienda que no olvides llevar calzado cómodo y confortable, ropa acorde al clima, un buen sombrero y no olvides hidratarte. |

PORTIMÃO: En cuanto al firme tenemos (caminos de piedra y asfalto). Pavimento recio y compacto. Respecto al desnivel es una zona plana (alguna cuesta) . Hay bordillos en las aceras (no hay en el fuerte). Los usuarios de silla de ruedas deben de tener en cuenta: Acceso a nivel de calle en el interesante Museo de Portimão. Ligero resalte en el acceso a la iglesia matriz. Escaleras en el club náutico para acceder al fuerte. La tecnología de las sillas de ruedas ha avanzado mucho, cada vez más ligeras, hay modelos plegables, con todo tipo de adaptaciones, trata de conseguir una moderna, incluso hay ciudades donde se pueden alquilar, contacta con nosotros para añadir información. |

PORTIMÃO: Portimão tiene bonitas playas, destacando la famosa Playa da Rocha, la Playa do Alemão y la Playa de Alvor. La Playa da Rocha es conocida por sus acantilados de roca rojiza.
