MURALLAS-CASTELO (CASTRO MARIM)

En el cerro más alto de Castro Marim se sitúa el castelo, fue erigido por Dom Afonso III hacia el siglo XIII, sobre las ruinas de un castillo árabe, el castillo fue la primera sede de la Orden de Cristo en (1319), hasta su traslado a la ciudad de Tomar. Actualmente esta muy transformado con estructuras del siglo XVII.

VISITA : Horario de verano (abril-octubre) de 9:00-13:00 y horario de invierno (Noviembre-marzo) de 9:00-17:00

WALLS-CASTLE (CASTRO MARIM)

In the highest hill of Castro marim the casttle is located, was erected by Dom Afonso III towards 13 th century, on the ruins of an Arab castle was the first seat of the Order of Christ in (1319), until its transfer to the city of Tomar. Currently it is very tranformed with 17 th century structures,

IGLESIA DE SANTIAGO (CASTRO MARIM)

Dentro del castillo podemos visitar la iglesia de Santiago, que data del siglo XIV, hoy forma parte de la exposición de elementos medievales, de la orden de Santiago.

VISITA : Horario de verano (abril-octubre) de 9:00-13:00 y horario de invierno (Noviembre-marzo) de 9:00-17:00

CHURCH OF SANTIAGO (CASTRO MARIM)

Inside the castle we can visit the church of Santiago, dating from the 14 th century, today is part of the exhibition of medieval elements of the order of Santiago.

VISIT : Summer time (April-October) from 9:00-1:00 pm and winter time (November-March) from 9:00 to 17:00 pm.

CAPILLA DE SANTO ANTONIO (CASTRO MARIM)

En (2009) se realizaron obras de rehabilitación del fortín de San Antonio, así como de la capilla de San Antonio y del molino. La propia capilla es u edificio que poco tiene de antiguo, pero las vistas son lo más recomendable.

VISITA : Visita exterior.

CHAPELLE OF STO. ANTONIO (CASTRO MARIM)

In (2009) renovation works was carried out on the San Antonio fort, as well as the San Antonio chapel and the mill. The chapel itself is a building that has little old, but the views are the most recommended.

VISIT : Visit otside.

IGLESIA MATRIZ (CASTRO MARIM)

La iglesia matriz de Castro Marim se ubica en el centro del pueblo, es una iglesia muy restaurada con elementos que la datan en el siglo XVIII, destacando su bonita cúpula blanca, los retablos neoclásicos y los azulejos del pórtico.

VISITA : Abierto el domingo a las 15:00 con la misa.

PARISH CHURCH (CASTRO MARIM)

The main church of Castro Marim is located in the center of the town, it is a very restored church with elements dating from the 18 th century, highlighting its beautiful white dome, the neoclassical altarpieces and the portico tiles.

VISIT : Open on Sunday at 3:00 pm with mass.

FUERTE S. SEBASTIAN (CASTRO MARIM)

Los restos del Fuerte de San Sebastián son una muestra de la estrategia de defensa frente al expansionismo español en el siglo XVII y XVIII.

VISITA : Edificio cerrado al público.

FORTRESS OF S. SEBASTIAN (CASTRO MARIM)

The remains of San Sebastian Fort are a sample of the defensive strategy against Spanish expasionism in the 17 th and 18 th centuries.

VISIT : Building closed to the public.

ACCESO A CASTRO MARIM : El acceso al Algarbe puede realizarse por la A-22 (peaje electrónico) o por la N-125. Castro Marín se ubica junto al mismo río Guadiana, junto a la frontera hispano-portuguesa.

ACCESO PARA MINUSVÁLIDOS : Con silla de ruedas no se puede entrar en el Castelo (larga rampa empedrada en mal estado) e Iglesia de Santiago (dentro del castelo), en la capilla de Santo Antonio (escalón), en la iglesia matriz (escalinata) y en el fuerte de San Sebastián (cerrado al público), pero los exteriores son muy recomendables.

ACCESS TO CASTRO MARIM : Access to the Algarve can be done through the A-22 (electronic toll) or the N-125. Castro Marim is located next to the same Guadiana River, next to the Spanish-Portuguese border.

ACCESS FOR THE HANDICAPPED : With a wheelchair you can not enter the Castle (long paved ramp in poor condition) and the Church of Santiago (inside the castle), in the Santo Antonio chapel (step), in the main church (staircase) and in the fort of San Sebastian (closed to the public), but the outside are highly recommended.
