FUERTE DE SAGRES (SAGRES)

El Fuerte de Sagres es un edificio con estructuras del siglo XV, XVI y XVIII, reconstruido a mediados del siglo XX, por encontrarse arruinado. Dentro se puede admirar la iglesia de Nuestra Señora de Gracia, edificio del siglo XVI, también dañado por el terremoto de Lisboa. Muy cerca se ubica el fuerte de Beliche.

FORTRESS OF SAGRES (SAGRES)

The Fort of Sagres is a building with structures of the15th, 16 th and 18 th centuries, rebuilt in the mid-20 th century, to be ruined. Inside you can admire the church of Nossa Senhora da Graça, building of the 16 th century, also damaged by the Lisbon earthquake. The Beliche Fort is very close.

El cabo San Vicente es el extremo suroccidental de Europa, aquí hubo una iglesia destruida por los almohades, después en el siglo XVI se construyo el primer fuerte, destruido por los ingleses en el siglo XVII, mientras en el siglo XIX, se instaló el faro que aún se conserva.

FORTRESS OF S. VICENTE (SAGRES)

Cape San Vicente is the south-wetern end of Europe, here there was a church destruyed by the Almohads, then in the 16 th century the first fort was built, destroyed by the English in the 17 th century, while in the 19 th century, the lighthouse was installed that is still preserved.

MENHIR (RAPOSEIRA)

Atraídos por la ocultación del Sol, en una mística milenaria, los hombres del neolítico erigieron múltiples megalitos, pocos se conservan hoy en día, pero una muestra de estos cultos solares es el magnifico menhir de Raposeira.

WALLS (LAGOS)

The medieval walls of Lagos are of Arab origin, and include much of the historic center of Lagos.

CASTELO (LAGOS)

Junto a la misma playa se ubica el castillo medieval de Lagos, el castillo es de sillarejo, con sillería para las esquinas y almenas; es notable la puerta de Sao Gonzalo con 2 torreones cuadrados, mirando al mar. Al lado encontramos la Fortaleza da Ponta da Bandeira.

CASTLE (LAGOS)

Next to the beach is the medieval castle of Lagos, the castle is made of rubblework, with ashlar for the corners and battlements; the door of Sao Gonzalo with 2 square towers is remarkable, overlooking the sea. Next we find the Fortaleza da Ponta da Bandeira.

IGLESIA STA. MARÍA (LAGOS)

La fachada de la iglesia de Santa María se remata en un frontón coronado con cruz y flanqueada por 2 torres de campanario, las líneas de marcan con sillería, es básicamente un edificio del siglo XVI, fue restaurada a inicios del siglo XIX por un incendio. Justo en frente de la fachada podemos admirar la escultura del Infante Don Enrique el principal promotor de las exploraciones portuguesas por las costas africanas.

CHURCH STA. MARÍA (LAGOS)

The facade of the church of Santa María is finished in a pediment crowned with a cross and flanked by 2 bell towers, the lines marked with ashlar masonry, it is basically a building of the 16 th century, was restored at the beginning of the 19 th century by a fire. Just in front of the facade we can admire the sculpture of Onfante Don Enrique, the main promoter of Portuguese explorations along the African coasts.

ACCESO A SAGRES Y LAGOS : El acceso al Algarbe puede realizarse por la A-22 (peaje electrónico) o por la N-125. Desde Lagos seguir la dirección Sagres y para el menhir en el semáforo de Raposeira verás indicaciones.

ACCESO PARA MINUSVÁLIDOS : Acceso al interior en los dos fuertes solo parcialmente factible con silla de ruedas. El acceso al Menhir es sencillo, pues se ubica junto a la misma carretera (se puede ver desde el coche).

Los monumentos de Lagos son accesibles con silla de ruedas.

ACCESS TO SAGRES-LAGOS : Access to the Algarve can be done through the A-22 (electronic toll) or the N-125. From Lagos follow the direction Sagres and for the menhir at the traffic light of Raposeira you will see indications.

ACCESS FOR THE HANDICAPPED : Access to the inside in the 2 forts only partially feasible with a wheelchair. The access to the Menhir is simple, since it is located next to the same road (it can be seen from the car).

The monuments of Lagos are accessible by wheelchair.
