INFORMACIÓN HISTORICO-ARTÍSTICA

La atalaya de Níjar es el último testimonio de una antigua fortaleza que tenia murallas y otras torres, vestigios apenas visibles hoy en día. Fue una fortaleza andalusí, la torre es de planta circular, de mampostería, con perfil en talud, tenia dos ventanas y se accedía por una escalera, su posición estratégica le permite el control de buena parte del campo del Cabo de Gata.

HISTORICAL-ARTISTIC INFORMATION

The watchtower of Níjar is the last testimony of an ancient fortress that had walls and other towers, vestiges that are hardly visible today. It was a fortress of Muslim origin, the tower is of circular plan, built in rubblework masonry, with profile in slope, had two windows and was accessed by a staircase, its strategic position allows the control of much of the field of Cabo de Gata.

		IGLESIA DE LA ENCARNACIÓN - NIJAR INFORMACIÓN HISTORICO-ARTÍSTICA La iglesia de Nª Señora de La Encarnación de Níjar, es un edificio de estilo mudéjar datado en el siglo XVI, construido sobre una antigua mezquita; en su interior destaca, sin duda, el bellísimo artesonado de madera, así como, la talla de la Puríma de Alonso Cano; la torre-campanario tiene un reloj, es de planta cuadrada y está rematada en matacanes que le dan un aire militar, al parecer es de tiempos de Carlos I. CHURCH OF LA ENCARNACIÓN OF NIJAR HISTORICAL-ARTISTIC INFORMATION The church of Nª Señora de la Encarnación of Nijar is a Mudejar style building dating back to the 16th century, built on an old mosque; inside it stands out, without a doubt the beautiful wooden coffered ceilng, as well as the carving of La Purima by Alonso Cano; the bell-tower with a clock is of square plan and it is topped off with machicolations that give it a military air, apparently it is from Carlos I times. 		ACCESO A NIJAR ACCESO Acceso a Nijar desde la A-7, los monumentos se ubican en la parte alta de pueblo. La atalaya fuera del núcleo habitado y la iglesia en el centro urbano. ACCESO PARA MINUSVÁLIDOS Solo la iglesia es accesible con silla de ruedas.				ACCESS - NIJAR LOCATION Access to Nijar from the A-7, the monuments are located in the high part of town. The watchtower is located outside of the town and the church is in the same urban center. ACCESS FOR THE HANDICAPPED Only the church is accessible with a wheelchair.

		MONUMENTOS DE BERJA INFORMACIÓN HISTORICO-ARTÍSTICA Los Baños de Beneji tienen 3 naves con sus bóvedas, la nave central parece mayor y tuvo una dependencia central con columnas. Cronología andalusí, se cree que siguen el modelo de baños típico de los siglos X y XI. Recientemente se ha presentado un buen proyecto de Musealización con participación de la arqueóloga Rosa Morales. También podemos mencionar la alcazaba de Villavieja de Berja, una fortaleza de origen andalusí, construida en tapial, muy arruinada, los muros median 1.300 metros de longitud, con 2 metros de grosor y 7 m. de altura y en su interior se han encontrado varios aljibes. También hay un anfiteatro romano, que se ubica en la falda de la alcazaba. HORARIOS-ENTRADA Visita exterior.				MONUMENTS OF BERJA HISTORICAL-ARTISTIC INFORMATION The Beneji baths have 3 naves with their vaults, the central nave seems larger and had a central dependence with columns. Chronology andalusi, are believed to follow the typical bath model of the 10th and 11th centuries. Recently a good Musealization project was presented with the participation of the archaeologist Rosa Morales. We can also mention the citadel of Villavieja de Berja, a fortress of Andalusí origin, built in tapial (mud wall), very ruined, the walls are 1,300 meters (4,268 ft) long, 2 meters (6.56 ft) thick and 7 meters (22.96 ft) height. Inside have been found several cisterns. We also have the ruins of the Roman amphitheater, which are located in the slope of the citadel. TICKETS AND TIMETABLE Outside visit.

ACCESO PARA MINUSVÁLIDOS La fortaleza y el anfiteatro se ubican en lugares muy escarpados.
