BASÍLICA (COVADONGA)

INFORMACIÓN HISTORICO-ARTÍSTICA

La basílica de Covadonga es un templo neorromántico, construido en una bonita piedra de caliza rosada; los diseños del alemán Roberto Frassinelli, contaron con el apoyo técnico del arquitecto Federico Aparici, dentro sobresalen las bóvedas de arista y en la fachada destacan las 2 torres. En el entorno inmediato tenemos La Campanoza (campana de 3 metros de altura y 4 toneladas. Así como la estatua de bronce de Don Pelayo de (1964) obra del escultor Geraldo Zaragoza.

HORARIOS- ENTRADA

El santuario esta abierto todo el día, el museo abre de 10:30 a 14:00 y de 16:00 a 19:30 (todos los días).

Basilica of Covadonga is a neo-romantic temple, built on a beautiful pink limestone stone; the designs of the German Roberto Frassinelli, counted on the technical supprt of the architect Federico Aparici, inside the arched vaults and on the facade the 2 towers stand out. In the area we have La Campanoza (bell 3 meters high and 4 tons). As well as the bronze statue of Don Pelayo from (1694) work of the sculptor Geraldo Zaragoza.

The sanctuary is open all day, the museum opens from 10:30 to 14:00 and from 16:00 to 19:30 (every day).

La Santa Cueva de Covadonga (de la Santina), es una espectacular gruta natural, el lugar esta rodeado de leyendas e historia (relativa a Don Pelayo, el rey que inicio la “Reconquista”), además la cueva es Panteón real de varios monarcas (Don Pelayo, Alfonso I).

The Holy Cave of Covadonga (of La Santina), is a spectacular natural cave, the place is surrounded by legends and history (relative to Don Pelayo, the king who started the “Reconquista”), besides the cave is the royal Pantheon of several monarchs (Don Pelayo, Alfonso I).

CUEVA DEL BUXU (CARDES)

La cueva del Buxu (Cardes), es una cueva con restos arqueológicos (industria lítica y ósea), datados en el solutrense, además tiene pinturas rupestres.

HORARIOS- ENTRADA

El horario es de miércoles a domingo (10:15, 11:15, 12:15 y 13:15), es imprescindible la reserva telefónica previa (0034.608.175.467), Horario de atención telefónica (15:00-17:00). Entrada 3,13 €.

Cave of Buxu (Cardes) is a cave with archaeological remains (lithic and bone industry), dated in the Solutrean, also has cave paintings.

UBICACIÓN DE ENCLAVES:

BUXU: Se accede desde Cangas de Onís por la AS-114, se aparca el coche en Cardes y se debe andar por un camino (1 kilómetro).

COVADONGA: Coge la AS-114 en Cangas de Onis, hay indicaciones para Covadonga.

LOCATION

BUXU: It is accessed from Cangas de Onís by the AS-114, the car is parked in Cardes and you must walk along a road (1 kilometer).

COVADONGA: Take the AS-114 in Cangas de Onis, there are indications for Covadonga.
