Es el recinto amurallado medieval mejor conservado de España y quizás de Europa. Dispone de un perímetro de 2,5 kilómetros, con 88 torres y 9 puertas, rodeando una superficie de 33 hectáreas. Los muros tienen 3 metros de grosor y 12 de altura. Es un edificio románico, tiene una datación del siglo XI (Alfonso VI de Castilla); en el siglo XVI con Felipe II se restaura la muralla y se construyen casi todas las actuales puertas. 		CATEDRAL DE ÁVILA INFORMACIÓN HISTÓRICO-ARTÍSTICA La catedral de Ávila es muy singular, su cabecera esta integrada en la muralla; la basílica se inicio en el románico, pero el grueso de las obras son góticas, destacando las bóvedas de crucería, el claustro (siglos XIV y XVI); dentro hay que admirar el retablo del Altar Mayor obra de Berruguete y Borgoña, las vidrieras del siglo XV (dañadas en el terremoto de Lisboa de 1755) y el famosísimo sepulcro de El Tostado, obra de Vasco de la Zarza. La Iglesia de San Pedro es de estilo románico, con un gran rosetón, el ábside y la torre también románica. Ávila es cuna de Santa Teresa, aquí tenemos el famoso Convento de Santa Teresa del siglo XVII, es un edificio de fachada barroca con excepcionales esculturas de Gregorio Hernández.

Entre Ávila y Madrid hay unos 110 kilómetros, puedes acceder por la A-6 y N-VI o por la A-6 y AP-6; desde Salamanca el acceso es sencillo por la A-50; desde Extremadura puedes acceder por la N-110 (Ávila-Plasencia); desde Toledo el acceso se realiza por la A-40 y la N-403; desde Valladolid se accede por la N-601 y N-403; desde Segovia por la N-110 (y/o AP-51).

A extramuros tenemos la iglesia de San Pedro y la basílica de San Vicente. Las sillas de ruedas pueden acceder fácilmente a la basílica de San Vicente, a la catedral, al convento de Santa Teresa (entrada estrecha) y la iglesia de San Pedro.
