CASTRO DE COGOTAS (CARDEÑOSA)

INFORMACIÓN HISTÓRICO-ARTÍSTICA

Espectacular castro de 2 murallas, bastiones poderosos en las entradas, campo de piedras hincadas y algunas viviendas justo a la entrada. También hay una zona en la que se pueden ver estelas de una necrópolis. Cronología de la Edad del Bronce-Hierro. Juan Cabré fue el excavador en los años 20' y 30' del siglo XX, y en los años 80' Gonzalo Ruiz Zapatero. Es un yacimiento de gran interés científico, con él se tipifico el Bronce Final de la Meseta.

HILLFORT OF COGOTAS (CARDEÑOSA)

HISTORICAL-ARTISTIC INFORMATION

Spectacular hillfort with 2 enclosures, powerful towers in the gates, a stone barrier and some houses just at the entrance. There is also an area where you can see stelae of a necropolis. Dated in Bronze-Iron Age. Juan Cabré was the excavator in the 20's and 30's of the 20th century, and in the 80's was Gonzalo Ruiz Zapatero. It's a very important site for the scientific value, because is the model for Late Bronze in the Plateau.

MESA DE MIRANDA (CHAMATIN)

INFORMACIÓN HISTÓRICO-ARTÍSTICA

Es un castro, ubicado en un cerro, con 3 recintos, con una necrópolis de túmulos de gran interés, llamada “La Osera”, con 2.230 sepulturas, y se recuperaron hasta 5000 piezas, es una gran necrópolis arqueológica española. El yacimiento se data en la 2ª Edad del Hierro, fue excavado entre los años 30' y 40' por Juan Cabré, la hija de este, Encarnación Cabré y por Antonio Molinero.

MESA DE MIRANDA (CHAMARTIN)

HISTORICAL-ARTISTIC INFORMATION

It is a hillfort, located on a flat-hill, with 3 enclosures, a necropolis of tombs of great interest, called “La Osera”, with 2,230 graves, on which recovered up until 5,000 pieces, is one of the great archaeological cemeteries of Spain. The site dates from the 2 nd Iron Age, was excavated between the 30's and 40's by Juan Cabré, his daughter, Encarnación Cabré and Antonio Molinero.

CASTRO DE ULACA (SOLOSANCHO)

INFORMACIÓN HISTÓRICO-ARTÍSTICA

Es un castro vettón (pueblo celtibérico o prerromano), en un enclave impresionante, fue declarado Bien de Interés Cultural en (1986). Destaca el llamado “altar de los sacrificios”, una roca granítica, con bandejas excavadas y escaleras, para rituales de sacrificio, otro elemento interesante es la llamada “sauna”, para rituales iniciáticos. También hay murallas, viviendas y canteras. Datado en los siglos VI-II a.C., Excavado por E. Pérez Herrero (años 70') y por G. Ruiz Zapatero y J. Álvarez Sanchis, (años 90').

HILLFORT OF ULACA (SOLOSANCHO)

HISTORICAL-ARTISTIC INFORMATION

It's a Veton hillfort (Celtiberian or Pre-Roman country), in an impressive site, was declared Cultural Interest Property (BIC) in (1986). The so-called “altar of sacrifices” stands out, a granite monolith, with excavated trays and stairs, attributed to sacrificial rituals, another interesting element is the so-called “sauna” for initiatory rituals. There are also walls, houses and quarries. Dated in 6 th -2 nd centuries BC; Excavated by E. Pérez Hererro (70's) and G. Ruiz Zapatero and J. Álvarez Sanchis (90's).

UBICACIÓN - AMBLÉS

COGOTAS: A Cardeñosa podemos acceder desde Ávila por la A-50 o la N-501, tomando la AV-804, antes de llegar al pueblo de Cardeñosa por esta carretera encontraremos el cartel, y tras 3 Km. llegaremos al castro.

CHAMARTIN: Desde Ávila hay que coger la carretera AV-110, dirección Muñico y en Chamartín coger una pista desde el cementerio.

ULACA: El castro de Ulaca se sitúa en Solosancho; desde Ávila por la N-502, ir a Solosancho y después a Villaviciosa y tras pasar el pueblo dejar el coche y subir una fuerte montaña, que exige una buena forma física.

ACCESO A MINUSVÁLIDOS :

COGOTAS: Muy complicado para silla de ruedas.

CHAMARTIN: Parcialmente apto para silla de ruedas.

ULACA: No apto para silla de ruedas.

LOCATION - AMBLÉS

COGOTAS: To Cardeñosa we can access from Ávila by the A-50 or the N-501, taking the AV-804, before arriving at the town of Cardeñosa by this road we will find the signpost and after 3 Km (1,8 miles) we will reach the hillfort.

CHAMARTIN: From Ávila you have to take the AV-110 road, Muñico direction and in Chamartín take a way from the cemetery.

ULACA: The hillfort of Ulaca is located in Solosancho; from Ávila on the N-502, go to Solosancho and after to Villaviciosa later passing the village leave the car and climb a strong mountain, which requires a top shape.

CHAMARTIN: Partly suitable for wheelchairs.

ULACA: No suitable for wheelchairs.

IGLESIA S. ESTEBAN (MUÑANA)

INFORMACIÓN HISTORICO-ARTÍSTICA

La iglesia de San Esteban Protomartir de Muñana, es un edificio de estilo barroco del siglo XVI-XVII, en el exterior sobresale la fachada con columnas corintias y frontón; así como la cabecera con contrafuertes muy gruesos y una pequeña espadaña; dentro destaca la capilla mayor cubierta con bóveda de crucería.

HISTORICAL-ARTISTIC INFORMATION

The church of San Esteban Protomartir of Muñana, is a baroque building from the 16 th -17 th centuries, on the outside stand out the facade with Corinthian columns and pediments; as well as the head with very thick buttresses and a small belfry; inside the main chapel is covered with a ribbed vault.
