IGLESIA DE LA ASUNCIÓN, (MÉRTOLA)

La iglesia de la Anunciación es una antigua mezquita, reconvertida en el siglo XIII en iglesia mayor, una torre cuadrada era el viejo minarete convertido en campanario cristiano, las almenas en zig-zag son de perfil andalusí como las de Medina Zahara.

CHURCH OF LA ASUNCIÓN (MÉRTOLA)

The church of La Asunción is an old mosque, converted in the 13 th century into a major church, a dsquare tower was the old minaret converted into a Christian bell tower, the battlements in zig-zag are of Andalusian profile like those of Medina Zahara.

TORRE DEL RELOJ, (MÉRTOLA)

La torre del reloj, es una torre cuadrada de las antiguas murallas, con acceso lateral desde el adarve de la antigua muralla, con una caseta coronada en un tejadillo y pináculos de estética moderna y un bonito reloj que da a la calle Profesor Baptista de Graça

TOWER OF THE CLOCK (MÉRTOLA)

The clock tower is a square tower of the old walls, with lateral access from the wall walk of the olf walls, with a shed crowned in a roof and pinnacles of a modern aesthetics and a nice clock that gives to the street Profesor Baptista de Graça.

PUENTE, (MÉRTOLA)

El puente romano es una obra de ingeniería, que suele pasar desapercibido para muchos visitantes, si no se mira bien al río Guadiana, es de sillería y los expertos aún no se ponen de acuerdo sobre su funcionalidad (puente, puerto…).

BRIDGE (MÉRTOLA)

The Roman bridge is a work of engineering, which often goes unnoticed by many visitors, if you don't look well at the Guadiana River, it is made of ashlar masonry and experts still can't agree on its functionality (bridge, port ...).

CASTELO, (MÉRTOLA)

El castillo medieval de Mértola se construyó en el solar fe un fortín romano y de un alcázar árabe, pero el actual castillo es del siglo XIII, fue mandado construir por el rey Don Joao Fernández gran maestre de la Orden de Santiago

VISITA : De martes a domingo de 9:00 a 12:30 y de 14:00 a 17:30 horas. Entrada 5€.

CASTLE (MÉRTOLA)

The medieval castle of Mértola was built on the site of a Roman fort and an Arab fortress, but the current castle dates back to the 13 th century. It was built by King Joao Fernández, Grand Master of the Order of Santiago.

VISIT : From Tuesday to Sunday from 9 :00-12 :30 and from 14 :00-17 :30 pm. Ticket €5.

La antigua Martulah islámica nos permite visitar hoy una casa del magnífico pasado árabe de la ciudad,

ARAB HOUSE (MÉRTOLA)

The ancient Islamic Martulah allows us to visit today a house of the magnificent Arab past of this city.

VISIT : Summer time (July 15th to September 30th) Tuesday to Sunday 9 :45-13 :00 and 14 :00-18 :15 and winter time (October 1st to June 15th) from Tuesday to Sunday from 9 :15-13 :00 pm and 14 :00-17 :45 pm.

RUINAS ROMANAS, (MÉRTOLA)

Entre las magníficas obras de época romana podemos mencionar toda una serie de mosaicos y uno de los mejores baptisterios de época romana de la península ibérica. La visita debe completarse con la visita al Museo Paleocristiano de Mértola.

VISITA : Horario de verano 15 de Julio a 30 de septiembre) de martes a domingo, 9:45-13:00 y 14:00-18:15 y horario de invierno (1 de octubre a 15 de junio) de martes a domingo de 9:15 a 13:00 y 14:00-17:45. La entrada al museo son 2€.

ROMAN REMAINS (MÉRTOLA)

Among the magnificent works of Roman times we can mention aset of mosaics and one of the best baptisteries from Roman times i the Iberian Peninsula. The visit should be completed with a visit to the Paleochristian Museum of Mértola.

ACCESO A MÉRTOLA :

Se ubica en una zona aislada del sur de Portugal, puede accederse desde Castro Verde (N-2) cogiendo la N-123; además tiene conexiones con Serpa (N-265), con Beja (IP2 y N122) y con Vila Real de S. Antonio (IC27 y N122).

ACCESO PARA MINUSVÁLIDOS :

La iglesia tiene un escalón, la casa andalusí y las ruinas romanas tienen escaleras en la plataforma de visita diseñada, y las demás estructuras solo se visitan desde el exterior.

ACCESS TO MÉRTOLA :

Located in an isolated area of the southern Portugal, it can be accessed from Castrp Verde (N-2) taking the N-123; it also has connections with Serpa (N-265), with Beja (IP2 and N-122) and with Vila Real de S. Antonio (IC27 and N-122).

ACCESS FOR THE HANDICAPPED :

The church has a step, the Andalusian house and the Roman ruins have stairs on the designed visitor's platform and the other structures are only visited the outside.
