Alburquerque tiene la iglesia de Santa María del Mercado, datada a fines del Medievo, la fachada es un arco ojival, con relieves de alabastro, con el tema del Descendimiento de la Cruz, dentro el templo tiene 3 naves, separadas con arcos ojivales, con bóvedas de cañón; se data hacia el siglo XV.

La puerta es uno de los accesos de la antigua muralla, hoy engullida por las casas de los vecinos, tienen 2 torres cilíndricas (sillarejo), arco de semicírculo (diseñado en silería); tuvo rastrillo y “buhera” (estructura para lanzar aceite).
