El castillo de Sortelha (sortija en castellano) es una edificación medieval que se ubica sobre un antiguo castro, quizás se remonta al siglo XII, una alta torre de homenaje destaca sobre el castillo que se erigió sobre un alto cerro inexpugnable.

MURALLA (SORTELHA)

INFORMACIÓN HISTORICO-ARTÍSTICA

La muralla medieval de Sortelha es de planta ovalada, con varios accesos, tiene una alta torre de planta cuadrada en el sector occidental; también en el sector oeste se ubica la Porta Nova; mientras al este tenemos una puerta con arco gótico (quizás manuelino), en el sector sur sobre la muralla se ubica el castillo.

Visita exterior libre, aunque hay accesos para el adarve de la muralla.

WALLS (SORTELHA)

HISTORICAL-ARTISTIC INFORMATION

The medieval wall of Sortelha is of oval plan, with several accesses, has a high tower of square plan in the western sector; also in the west sector the Porta Nova is located; while to the east we have a door with Gothic arch (perhaps Manueline), in the southern sector on the wall the castle is located.

Free outside visit; although there are accesses to the wall walk of the walls.

IGLESIA MATRIZ (SORTELHA)

La iglesia matriz de Sortelha, es una construcción que data del siglo XVI, aun conserva un bonito artesonado mudéjar, es interesante detenerse en las capillas, el altar mayor y otros detalles.

El castillo de Sabugal, conocido como Castillo de las Cinco Esquinas, por la forma de su torre de homenaje es un castillo medieval que puede datar del siglo XII o del XIII, las obras duraron al menos hasta el siglo XIV; fue cuartel en la Guerra de la Independencia y después cementerio, después a comenzado a ser restaurado.

Sabugal castle, known as Castle of the Five Corners, by the shape of its tower of homage is a medieval castle that can date drom the 12 th o 13 th centuries, the works lasted at least until the 14 th century; it was a military barracks in the War of Independence and later a cemetery, after which it began to be restored.

INFORMACIÓN HISTORICO-ARTÍSTICA

El castelo medieval de Alfaiates debió de construirse tras el empuje leones en los siglos XII o XIII, después paso a manos portuguesas y el castillo fue reformado con el rey Dinis, pero los trabajos más intensivos se produjeron en el siglo XVI, adaptado a la guerra de artillería; hoy conserva en ruinas algunos muros de sillería y sillarejo.

HISTORICAL-ARTISTIC INFORMATION

The medieval castle of Alfaiates must have been built after the conquest of Leon in the 12 th or 13 th century, then passed into Portuguese hands and the castle was reformed with King Dinis, but the most intensive works were produced in the 16 th century, adapted to the war of artillery; today it still has some walls in ruins of ashlar masonry and rubblework masonry.

La iglesia de la Misericordia de Alfaiates se remonta al siglo XIII, es un edificio construido en tosca sillería de granito, la fachada es un arco de medio punto, ligeramente apuntado con arquivoltas y un pequeño rosetón; a un lado tenemos un arquito que sostiene la campana de un tosco campanario.

UBICACIÓN DE ENCLAVES:

Sabugal se ubica muy cerca de Guarda (N-233) y muy cerca de la frontera española, las localidades de Sortelha y Alfaiates, están muy próximas a Sabugal.

LOCATION OF SITES:

Sabugal is located very close to Guarda (N-233) and very close to the Spanish border, the towns of Sortelha and Alfaiates, are very close to Sabugal.

ACCESO PARA MINUSVALIDOS:

SORTELHA: Para usuarios de silla de ruedas el acceso general es exterior, el firme es irregular, pero con ayuda es una experiencia fantástica que te llevará al Medievo.

SABUGAL: Para usuarios de silla de ruedas acceso solo al patio de armas del castillo, y al museo (plaza de aparcamiento reservada, rampa lateral), acceso no factible a la iglesia de Sao Joao.

ALFAIATES: Acceso no factible a la iglesia (escalones) y al castillo (visita exterior, por ruina).

ACCESS FOR HANDICAPPED

SORTELHA: For wheelchair users general access is outside, the firm is irregular, but with help is a fantastic experience that will take you to the Middle Ages.

SABUGAL: For wheelchair users, access only to the castle´s courtyard and to the museum (reserved parking space, side ramp), and not feasible access to the chruch of Sao Joao.

ALFAIATES: Access not feasible to the church (steps) and the castle (outside visit, for ruin).

RESENDE-CINFAES
