CASTELO DE LAMEGO

INFORMACIÓN HISTÓRICO-ARTÍSTICA

El castillo tiene 2 líneas de murallas, las cuales se adaptan a la planimetría irregular del cerro, toda una serie de puertas jalonan el complejo del castillo, destacando la Porta da Vila, la Porta do Norte, Porta do Sol etc…, el castillo es de sillería y dispone de torre de homenaje asi como de algunas torretas complementarias; la construcción data de los siglos XII y XIII; solo algunos muros y el aljibe son del siglo XI y se adjudican a los árabes.

CASTLE (LAMEGO)

The castle has to lines of walls, which adapt to the irregular planimetry of the hill, a doors set surround the castle complex, we emphasize the Porta da Vila, Porta do Norte, Porta do Sol etc... The castle is of ashlar masonry and has a keep and auxiliary towers; the building dates from the 12th and 13th centuries; only some walls and the cistern are of 11th century and scholars adjudge it to the Arabs.

CATEDRAL DE LAMEGO

La catedral de Nuestra Señora de la Asunción, de Lamego es un edificio que se inicio en el estilo románico (fue fundada en 1129) y que recoge aportaciones del gótico y del barroco. Destaca sobre todo la estructura gótica y la fachada gótica del siglo XVI y un claustro renacentista. Lo más antiguo son los capiteles románicos de las ventanas de la torre. En el interior predomina el estilo barroco destacando los frescos que pinto en (1738) Nicolau Nasoni.

The nice Cathedral of Nossa Senhora da Assunção of Lamego is a building that began in the Romanesque style (founded in 1129) and which includes contributions of Gothic and Baroque. We highlight the Gothic structure and the Gothic façade of the 16 th century and a Renaissance cloister. The oldest are the Romanesque capitals of the windows at the tower. Inside predominates the Baroque style, emphasizing the frescoes was painted by Nicolau Nasoni in (1738).

CAPELA DO DESTERRO (LAMEGO)

La capilla del Destierro es una bonita iglesia barroca de Portugal, que se remonta a (1640), en la fachada sobresale la típica iconografía barroca con pináculos bulbiformes, volutas, frontones partidos y columnas corintias; pero destaca aun más el interior con pinturas del siglo XVIII (Manuel Martins, Manuel de Gouveia y Manuel Machado), el retablo dispone de unos magníficos dorados, únicos en Portugal.

The chapel of the Desterro is a beautiful Baroque church of Portugal, dating back to (1640) on tha façade stands out the typical Baroque iconography with bulbiform pinnacles, volutes, broken pediments and Corinthian columns; but highlights more the insice with paintings of the 18 th century (Manuel Martins, Manuel de Gouveia and Manuel Machado), the altarpiece has beautiful golds unique in Portugal

SANTUARIO LOS REMEDIOS (LAMEGO)

INFORMACIÓN HISTÓRICO-ARTÍSTICA

Es muy espectacular el santuario de Nuestra Señora de los Remedios, de estilo rococó, la escalinata de acceso es posiblemente la más monumental de Europa. Además, es un centro de peregrinación de creyentes, de todo Portugal. Los trabajos se iniciaron en (1750) y no se acabo hasta (1905), la escalera se construyó en el siglo XIX, tiene 686 escalones, el proyecto fue ideado por el arquitecto Nicolau Nasoni, quien murió sin verlo hecho realidad, tiene 9 terrazas, en ellas vemos las esculturas de los reyes de Israel, los pasamanos de granito, los remates a modo de jarrón o farol, los paneles de azulejos, y la fuente con obelisco, que dan al conjunto un aire sofisticado.

SANTUARY DOS REMÉDIOS (LAMEGO)

HISTORICAL-ARTISTIC INFORMATION

It is spectacular the sanctuary of Nossa Senhora dos Remédios, of Rococó style, the access staircase is possibly the most monumental of Europe. it is a center of pilgrimage of believers of all Portugal. Work began (1750) and was not finished until (1905), the staircase was built in the 19th century, has 686 steps, the project was designed by the architct Nicolau Nasoni, who died without seeing it come true, has 9 terraces, in them we see the sculptures of the kings of Israel, the granite handrails, the vase-like or lantern-like finishes, the tile panels and the fountain with obelisk, which give to the complex a sophisticated and impressive air.

Winter time from 8,30 am to 12,30 pm and from 1,30 to 6, in the summer from 8,30 to 7.

Acceso factible con silla de ruedas a la catedral de Lamego; y a algunos sectores (no todos) del castillo de Lamego. Acceso no factible con silla de ruedas a la Capela do Desterro.

En cuanto al santuario de Nuestra Señora de los Remedios, aunque e acceso final tiene unos escalones, lo cierto es que se puede acceder por una rampa colocada para facilitar el acceso.

Possible wheelchair access to the cathedral of Lamego and some sectors (not all) of the castle of Lamego. Access not possible with wheelchair to Chapel do Desterro.

As for the sanctuary of Nossa Senhora dos Remédios, although the final access has a few steps, the truth is that it can be accessed by a ramp placed to facilitate the access.
