INFORMACIÓN HISTÓRICO-ARTÍSTICA

En el siglo XIII el rey Dinis construyó un castillo medieval, cercado por un segundo castillo en el s XVII (Guerra de Independencia de Portugal). Fue una fortaleza inexpugnable en su tiempo, tiene forma de hexágono doble con 12 puntas, el perímetro mide 2,5 Km., dispone de foso de 10 metros de ancho, tiene además casamatas (para acoger a la guarnición, artillería y caballos), hospital y polvorín. Del castillo medieval poco se conserva pues el polvorín se ubicaba en el y fue volado por los franceses en (1810).

HISTORICAL-ARTISTIC INFORMATION

In the 13th century, King Dinis built a medieval castle, surrounded by a second castle in the 17th c. (War of Independence of Portugal). It was an impregnable fortress in its time, has a double hexagon shape with 12 points, the perimeter measures 2.5 Km (1.55 miles), has a moat 10 m (32.8 ft) wide, also has casemates (to accomodate the garrison, artillery and horses), hospital and munitions dump. Medieval castle is badly preserved, because the munitions dump was destroyed by Frenchs in (1810).

Almeida se encuentra junto a la frontera hispano-lusa, a 48 Km. de Ciudad Rodrigo (A-62, A-25 y N-332) y a 33 Km. de Guarda (A-23 y N-332).

El acceso es factible, pero las dimensiones exigen una silla con motor o ayuda extra.

		IGLESIA DE VILA NOVA DE FOZ COA INFORMACIÓN HISTÓRICO-ARTÍSTICA Es una iglesia con una bonita fachada de sillería irregular, con un arco semicircular y 5 arquivoltas, coronado con escudos, encima veremos un pequeño óculo y espadaña con sus 3 campanas. Datación en el s XVI, pero tiene elementos variados, predominando los elementos de estilo Manuelino. 		PARQUE ARQUEOLÓGICO DE FOZ COA				ARCHAEOLOGICAL PARK OF FOZ COA

INFORMACIÓN HISTÓRICO-ARTÍSTICA

Los grabados de Foz Coa son Patrimonio de la Humanidad, las principales rutas de grabados son: Canada do Inferno (1 Km. 2 horas), Penascosa (400 metros 1,30 horas) y Ribeira de Piscos (2 Km. 2,30 horas). El Vale del Coa es una gran estación de arte rupestre, al aire libre, que se extienden por 17 Km., datados en el Paleolítico, en el Neolítico y en la Edad del Hierro. Predominan los grabados zoomorfos (uro, caballo, cabra y ciervo) y antropomorfos.

ENTRADAS Y HORARIOS

Horario de 9:00 a 12:30 horas y de 14:00 a 17:30 horas. Entrada 10 euros. Hay visitas guiadas.

ACCESO

Vila Nova de Foz Coa se encuentra junto al río Duero, desde Guarda se accede por la A-25 e IP2 y desde Bragança por la A-4 e IP2; desde España se puede acceder por la localidad de Lumbrales (Salamanca) por la CL-517 y en Portugal coger la N-221 y N-332. Desde la GALP se accede bien al Museo, junto al semáforo (dirección norte) hay una isleta triangular aquí gira a la derecha, todo recto y al final empiezan los carteles.

Al Museo sin problemas, pero algunos paneles no son accesibles al usuario de silla de ruedas.

HISTORICAL-ARTISTIC INFORMATION

The engravings of Foz Coa are World Heritage, the main engraving routes are: Canada do Inferno (1Km = 0.62 mi, 2 hours), Penascosa (400 m=1300 ft, 1.30 hours) and Ribeira de Piscos (2 Km = 1.2 mi., 2.30 hours). The Coa Valley is a large outdoor rock art station, which extends for 17 Km. (10.54 mi) dating to Paleolithic, Neolithic and Iron Age. Vila Nova de Foz Coa is next to the Douro River, from Guarda you can access by the A-25 and IP2 and from Bragança by the A-4 and IP2; from Spain you can access from the town of Lumbrales (Salamanca) by CL-517 and in Portugal take the N-221 and N-332. From the GALP you can access the Museum very well, next to the traffic light (north direction) there is a triangular islet, here turn right, go straight, to the end, where the signpostes start.
