MOSTEIRO S. JOAO (TAROUCA)

INFORMACIÓN HISTORICO-ARTÍSTICA

El Monasterio de Sao Joao (Tarouca) se remonta al siglo XII, muy vinculado a Don Afonso Henriques, después ha sido reformado, en los siglos XVII y XVIII, tiene rasgos románicos, góticos, renacentistas y barrocos; son muy interesantes los azulejos del siglo XVIII.

Horario de martes a domingo de 10:00-13:00 y 14:00-18:00. Entrada 3 €.

The Monastery of Sao Joao (Tarouca) dates back to the 12 th century, linked to Don Afonso Henriques, later it has been renovated in the 1th-18 th centuries, it ha Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque elements; the 18 th century tiles are very interesting.

PUENTE (UCANHA)

INFORMACIÓN HISTORICO-ARTÍSTICA

El puente parece vinculado a la orden del Cister, es un puente fortificado creado para el cobro del pontazgo, en una antigua via romana que conducía a Braga. Tiene 5 arcos, el más alto de 5 m. También puedes visitar en Ucanha la iglesia de San Juan Evangelista.

BRIDGE (UCANHA)

HISTORICAL-ARTISTIC INFORMATION

The bridge seems to be linked to the Cistercian order, it is a fortified bridge created for the collection of the “pontazgo”, in an old Roman road that led to Braga, it has 5 arches, the highest of 5 m. You can also visit the chruch of Sao Joao Evangelista in Ucanha.

TORRE MEDIEVAL (UCANHA)

La torre medieval servía para fortificar y defender el puente, para favorecer el cobro del “pontazgo” (impuesto por pasar el puente), La alta torre es de sillería de buena calidad, con “balcones” soportados por mensulas.

The medieval tower was used to fortify and defend the bridge, to favor the collection of the “pontazgo” (tax by passing the bridge), the high tower is of good quality ashlar masonry, with “balconies” supported by corvels.

UBICACIÓN DE ENCLAVES:

Tarouca se encuentra en la N-226, entre Lamego y Moimenta da Beira, tras pasar Tarouca está el monasterio.

Los enclaves están señalizados con carteles de color marrón en la N-226, acceso sencillo, aparcamiento sencillo.

LOCATION OF SITES

Tarouca is located in the N-226, between Lamego and Moimenta da Beira, after Tarouca is the monastery.

The monuments are signposted with signposts of Brown color in the N-226, simple Access, simple parking.

ACCESO PARA MINUSVALIDOS:

TAROUCA: Con silla de ruedas el acceso no es factible, hay 2 escalón a la entrada de la iglesia ; pero si puedes acceder al centro interpretativo. Acceso factible al puente.

UCANHA: Acceso al puente, pero no a la torre (escalones).

ACCESS FOR HANDICAPPED

TAROUCA: For wheelchairs access is not feasible, there is 2 steps at the entrance of the church; but you can access to Interpretative Center. Access feasible to the bridge.

UCANHA: Access to the bridge, but not to the tower (stairs).
