CASTRO DAIRE: Se ubica en la antigua región de Beira Alta, en el actual distrito de Viseu. La localidad es muy pequeña ubicada entre los ríos Paiva y Paivo.

Entre los principales monumentos citaremos la iglesia matriz y la fonte dos Peixes (fuente con azulejos).

Pero nos interesa más el patrimonio arqueológico de la comarca, como la orca de Pendilhe (dolmen) y la orca dos Juncais de Queiriga, dos excepcionales muestras del megalitismo de la región de la Beira.

Y finalmente, en la localidad de Carvalhais, puedes visitar el castro da Carcoda, con sus viviendas circulares habitadas en la Edad del Bronce, Edad del Hierro y Época Romana.

CASTRO DAIRE: It is located in the old region of Beira Alta, in the current district of Viseu. The town is very small, it is located between the Paiva and Paivo Rivers.

Among the main monuments we will mention the main church and the Fonte dos Peixes (fountain with tiles).

But we are more interested in the archaeological heritage of the region, such as the Orca de Pendilhe (dolmen) and the Orca dos Juncais of Queiriga, two exceptional samples of the megalithism of the Beira.

And finally in the town of Carvalhais, you can visit the hillfort of Carcoda, with its circular houses inhabited in the Bronze Age, Iron Age and Roma era.

CARCODA: En São Pedro do Sul (viniendo por la N-16) debes coger la dirección del mosteiro de S. Cristovão (cartel gris), así entras en la N-227, hasta llegar a una glorieta con unas casitas, aquí giras a la derecha, dirección “Carvalhais”.

Llegas a otra glorieta que cruzas todo recto, después llegas a otra glorieta (con la iglesia justo a la izquierda) y saldrás por la primera salida a la derecha, entras en una carretera estrecha, tienes que ir todo recto, y seguir la cartelería.

PENDILHE: El dolmen se ubica entre Pendilhe y Vila Nova de Paiva; desde Pendilhe no se ve el letrero, pero en sentido contrario si; el lugar es un cerro cortado para el paso de la carretera y antes de ese cerro está el acceso, por la pista coge la primera a la derecha, la segunda a la derecha y la tercera a la izquierda y a pocos metros veras el dolmen.

CARCODA: In São Pedro do Sul (if you arrive from N-16) you must take the direction of Mosteiro de S. Cristovao (grey sign), you'll enter in N-227, as far as a roundabout with small houses, here you turn right, direction “Carvalhais”.

You arrive at a roundabout that crosses all straight, then you arrive to another roundabout (with a church just on the left) here you will exit on the right, you will enter in a narrow road, you have to go straight ahead, and follow the signage.

PENDILHE: The dolmen is located between Pendilhe and Vila Nova de Paiva. From Pendilhe you can´t see the signpost, but in the opposite direction yes; the place is a hill cut for the passage of the road and before that hill is the access, just in the signpost turn right, at second cross turn right and finally turn left and you will see the dolmen in a few meters.

QUEIRIGA: En la calle principal hay un cartel (junto a un colegio) gira a la izquierda, después faltan carteles pero sigue estas instrucciones: En la primera bifurcación coge el camino de la derecha, en la segunda bifurcación la carretera de la derecha, llegaras a una plazoleta, debes de salir por el tercer camino, contando por la derecha; por ese camino iras recto hasta el túnel para pasar por debajo de la autopista, tras pasarla torcer a derecha y torcer a izquierda en el cruce, subiendo hasta el dolmen.

QUEIRIGA: On the main street of Queiriga there is a signpost (next to a school), here turn left; after is possible that there aren't enough signposts, but you'll arrive with this instructions: at the fist fork take the road on the right, on the second fork the road on the right, you will arrive at a small square, you must exit by the 3 rd road (counting on the right); by this way go straight until you find a tunnel to pass under the highway, after passing it turn right and in the first cross turn left, go up the hill and you'll see the dolmen.

SÃO PEDRO DO SUL: On the Candal and Santa Cruz de Trapa road, on the N-227, we have a small picnic area, ideal for a stop along the way.

INFO HISTÓRICO-ARTÍSTICA

ES un dolmen megalítico estudiado por José élite de Vasconcelos a comienzos del siglo XX, seria excavado por Domingos Cruz en (1992), tiene cámara funeraria con 9 ortostatos, y un largo corredor de 5,20 m. sus constructores colocaron un ortostato de separación entre cámara y corredor, dispone de manchas de color rojo en alguna piedra y grabados (rectángulos concéntricos).

Muy similar al dolmen de Pendilhe es este de Queiriga que dispone de superestructura desarrollada para su protección, dispone de cámara mortuoria de 9 ortostatos, y de un corredor con 5 ortostatos a la derecha y siete a la izquierda, dispone inclusive de pinturas cinegéticas.

En (1896) fue estudiada por José élite de Vasconcelos.

Nos encontramos con un castro lusitano de la Edad del Hierro, con materiales romanos, dispone de muralla de 6 m de grosor en algún punto; e incluso algunas viviendas circulares parcialmente reconstruidas, con la tradicional cubrición cónica que vemos en las citanias del norte de Portugal y de Galicia; también existen estructuras rectangulares.

Lamentablemente el yacimiento fue dañado por un incendio y actualmente está invadido por la vegetación.
