IGLESIA DE SAN VICENTE – FRIAS

La iglesia de San Vicente de Frias es un edificio que acumula elementos de distintas épocas romanicos, góticos etc…La fachada románica se exhibe hoy en Nueva York.

ACCESO: El mejor acceso se hace por la N-I (Burgos-Miranda de Ebro) por Calzada de Bureba cogiendo la BU-504 que va a Frías.
   

CHURCH OF SAN VICENTE

The church of San Vicente of Frias is a building that accumulates elements of different styles (Romanesque, Gothic etc...). The Romanesque facade is exhibited today in New York.

ACCESS: The best access in by the N-I (Burgos-Miranda de Ebro) by Calzada de Bureba taking the BU-504 that goes to Frías.
 
       

CASTILLO DE FRIAS

Sobre un alto peñasco se encuentra este bello castillo. Dispone de puente levadizo, con un acceso estrecho, con torre cuadrada y de foso excavado en la roca (que se llenaba de agua). En el castillo destaca una alta torre de homenaje, con almenas y ventanas góticas. La torre de homenaje es independiente del resto del castillo dispone de un aljibe adosado. El castillo tenía además patio de armas, granero, bodega etc… Cronología de los siglos XII, XIII, XV y XVI.

VISITA: El castillo solo abre en verano, todos los días de 10:00-14:00 y 16:00-20:00. La visita es guiada. En invierno hay que concertar visita (947.358.011 – Oficina de Turismo de Frías).

CASTLE OF FRIAS

On a high cliff is this beautiful castle. It has a drawbridge, with a narrow access, with a square tower and a moat dug in the rock (which was filled with water). In the castle stands a high keep, with battlements and Gothic windows. The keep is independent of the rest of the castle, has a water tank attached. The castle also had a courtyard, a granary, a wine cellar etc... Chronology of the 12 th , 13 th , 15 th and 16 th centuries.

VISIT: The castle only opens in summer, every day from 10 am – 2 pm and 4 pm – 8 pm. The tour is guided. In winter it is necessary to arrange a visit (947. 358. 011 – Frias Tourist Office).

 

PUENTE DE FRIAS

No menos interesante es el puente, que dispone de un elemento muy original un “fornix” un arco central para el pago del “pontazgo”.

ACCESO PARA MINUSVÁLIDOS: Considera que una larga cuesta conduce a la parte alta de Frías. El castillo no es apto para silla de ruedas (zonas altas), si se puede entrar a la iglesia de San Vicente y acercarse al puente.
   

BRIDGE OF FRIAS

No less interesting is the bridge, which has a very original element a “fornix” a central arch for payment the “Portazgo” (a tax for use the bridge).

ACCESS FOR THE HANDICAPPED: Consider that a long slope leads to the upper part of Frías. The castle isn't suitable for wheelchairs (high areas), is possible to enter in the church of San Vicente and approach the bridge.
 
 

ERMITA DE Nª SEÑORA DE LA HOZ, TOBERA

La ermita de Nuestra Señora de la Hoz de Tobera, es un edificio de estilo románico, se data en el siglo XIII, también al lado tenemos el santuario del Cristo de los Remedios de estilo barroco datado en el siglo XVIII, que es una especie de humilladero.

VISITA: Muy cerca de Frías se accede por la carretera de Busto de Bureba (947.358.011 – Oficina de Turismo de Frías).
   

HERMITAGE OF Nª. Sª OF LA HOZ, TOBERA

The hermitage of Our Lady of La Hoz of Tobera, is a building of Romanesque style, dating from the 13 th century, also next to the sanctuary of the Cristo de ls Remedios, of Baroque style dating from the 18 th century, which is a kind of hermitage.

VISIT: Very close to Frías is accessed by Busto de Bureba road (947.358.011 – Tourist Office of Frías).

 
 

PUENTE MEDIEVAL, TOBERA

El puente medieval de Tobera, permite atravesar el río Molinar y acceder de la ermita de Nuestra Señora de la Hoz, su origen parece romano, pues hay una calzada romana próxima. Además son muy bonitas las cascadas, se han dispuesto pasarelas para su contemplación.

ACCESO PARA MINUSVÁLIDOS: Considera que el acceso a la ermita es escarpado, solo podrás acercarte.
   

MEDIEVAL BRIDGE, TOBERA

The Medieval bridge of Tobera, allows to cross the river Molinar and access the hermitage of Our Lady of La Hoz, its origin seems Roman, because there is a Roman road nearby. In addition, the waterfalls are very beautiful and walkways have been laid out for contemplation.

ACCESS FOR THE HANDICAPPED: Consider that access to the hermitage is steep, you can only approach.
 
 

CASTILLO DE LOS ROJAS (POZA DE LA SAL)

INFORMACIÓN HISTÓRICO-ARTÍSTICA

Se trata de un castillo en estado ruinoso, conserva los torreones de la muralla de acceso y algunos lienzos. Construido en el s. IX por el conde Diego Rodríguez Porcelos, pero el edificio actual es obra de la familia Rodríguez de Rojas del s. XIV. Dentro hay un aljibe y hay algunas estancias abovedadas.

El Centro de Interpretación de “Las Salinas” permitirá conocer el proceso de extracción de la sal, clave en el pasado para la conservación de los alimentos.

   

CASTLE OF LOS ROJAS (POZA DE LA SAL)

HISTORICAL-ARTISTIC INFORMATION

It is a castle in ruinous state, it conserves the towers of the access wall and some stretches. Built in the 9 th century by Count Diego Rodríguez Porcelos, but the current building is the work of Rofriguez de Rojas' family in 14 th century. Inside there are a cistern and some vaulted rooms.

In the Archaeological Point of “Las Salinas” you will be able to know the salt extraction process, indispensable element in the past for the conservation of the food.

 
 

ENTRADAS Y HORARIOS

La Oficina de Turismo tiene por horario:

A) Cerrado de lunes a viernes en invierno (octubre abril), en junio cierra de lunes a miércoles y en verano (julio-septiembre) cierra solo el lunes.

B) Los Sábados y domingos el horario es de 10:30-14:30 y de 16:00-20:00, salvo los meses de Noviembre a febrero que los domingos solo abren de 10:00 a 15:00.

 

TICKETS AND TIMETABLE

The Tourist Office has a timetable:

A) Closed from Monday to Friday in winter (October-April), in June it closes from Monday to Wednesday and in summer (July-September) it closes on Monday.

B) Saturdays and Sundays, the hours are from 10,30 am to 2,30 pm and from 4 pm to 8 pm, except for the months of November to February which only open on Sundays from 10 am to 3 pm.

 
 

C) En verano (julio-septiembre) abre además, de martes a viernes de 10:30-14:30 y de 16:00-20:00, y en junio con idéntico horario de jueves a viernes.

ACCESO

A Poza de la Sal se acede desde Briviesca o Pancorbo en N-I, camino a Oña, hasta llegar al pueblo de Cornudilla desde donde sale el camino a Poza de la Sal. El castillo esta en un cerro a 2 km. del pueblo.

ACCESO PARA MINUSVÁLIDOS

No apto para silla de ruedas, cuesta muy empinada e irregular, con muchas escaleras y en algunos puntos se trepa literalmente.

LOCATION

To Poza de la Sal you can access by Briviesca or Pancorbo on the N-I, direction Oña, until the village of Cornudilla, where start the way to Poza de la Sal. The castle is on a hill 2 Km. (1,24 miles) from town.

ACCESS FOR THE HANDICAPPED

Not suitable for wheelchairs, slope very steep and irregular, with many stairs and in some points it clims literally.
