ZAHARA DE LA SIERRA: Es una bonita localidad encaramada a un cerro de calles empinadas y sinuosas, de bonitas casas blancas, con un castillo que corona un peñón rocoso inexpugnable, la localidad de Zahara forma parte de la ruta de los Pueblos Blancos y del parque natural de la Sierra de Grazalema.

Zahara ofrece al visitante una oferta turística muy variada desde el turismo cultural, el senderismo, la bicicleta, pasando por rutas a caballo, escalada y espeleología.

Aunque hay restos antiguos, es una fundación andalusí, el mismo topónimo Zahara (=flor) es árabe.

Entre los monumentos destacamos la iglesia de Santa María con su espectacular altar mayor, el castillo, la capilla de San Juan de Letrán y la torre del reloj.

ZAHARA DE LA SIERRA: It is a beautiful town perched on a rocky hill with steep and winding streets, beautiful white houses, with a castle that crowns an impregnable rocky crag, the town of Zahara is part of the route of the White towns and the Sierra de Grazalema Natural Park.

Zahara offers the visitor a very varied tourist offer from cultural tourism, hiking, cycling, through horseback riding, climbing and caving.

ZAHARA DE LA SIERRA: En la localidad hay poco aparcamiento, no es recomendable adentrarse mucho.

Hay un parking pequeño junto a la CA-9104 en la periferia del pueblo, que es ideal (P2). El aparcamiento es gratuito.

Vernur colabora con muchos ayuntamientos en la regulación del tráfico de sus municipios, evitando colapsar algunas zonas, lo que provocaría “Turismofobia”, facilitando a la vez el acceso del visitante tanto al aparcamiento como a los centros históricos.

ZAHARA DE LA SIERRA: In the locality there is little parking, it is not recommended to enter too far.

There is a small parking next the CA-9104, in the periphery of the village (P2), that it is ideal. Parking is free.

Vernur collaborates with many town councils in regulating traffic in their municipalities, avoiding the collapse of some areas, which would cause “Tourismphobia”, while facilitating visitor access to both parking and historic centres.

Te recomendamos que sigas la ruta propuesta en el plano Vernur (líneas verde, naranja y azul).

La distancia máxima en los extremos de esta visita es 1.100 m. La visita se desarrolla por un espacio de fuerte desnivel.

Vernur recomienda que no olvides llevar calzado cómodo y confortable, ropa acorde al clima, un buen sombrero y no olvides hidratarte.

ZAHARA DE LA SIERRA: The sites of Zahara de la Sierra are located in the centre of the town. The Clock Tower (Boquete San Juan St.). The church of Santa María de la Mesa (Manchega St.). Zahara castle (top of the town).

We recommend you to follow the proposed route at Vernur Map (green, orange and blue lines).

The maximum distance at the ends of this visit are 1,100 m. The visit takes place through a space a steep slope.

ZAHARA DE LA SIERRA: En cuanto al firme tenemos (caminos de piedra). Pavimento recio y compacto. Respecto al desnivel es una zona muy desnivelada. Hay bordillos en las aceras.

Con silla de ruedas el acceso no es factible a la Torre del Reloj (escaleras), a la iglesia de Santa María de la Mesa (escaleras) y al castillo de Zahara (cuestas, empedrado, escaleras).

La tecnología de las sillas de ruedas ha avanzado mucho, cada vez más ligeras, hay modelos plegables, con todo tipo de adaptaciones, trata de conseguir una moderna, incluso hay ciudades donde se pueden alquilar, contacta con nosotros para añadir información.

Los Moros y Cristianos en Benamahoma (fines de julio e inicios de agosto) es una fiesta con desfiles y luchas de moros y cristianos. (turismo): 673.300.323 y turismobenamahona@gmail.com

Destacamos entre las actividades turísticas las rutas de senderismo por el río Bocaleones, el piragüismo y kayak en el embalse de Zahara y la espeleología en el cueva del Susto.

We stand out among the tourist activities the hiking trails along the Bocaleones River, canoeing and Kayaking in the Zahara reservoir and caving in the Cueva del Susto.

En el exterior destaca la portada y la torre con su colorido chapitel. Dentro sobresale la cúpula de media naranja y el retablo mayor presidido por la virgen una interesante muestra del gótico-renacimiento.
