CASTILLO (ARCOS DE LA FRONTERA)

El castillo de Arcos de la Frontera es un castillo de origen árabe (siglo XI, época Taifa), que paso a ser la residencia de los duques de Arcos, tiene al menos 3 torres almenadas rodeadas de viviendas y ha sufrido diversas restauraciones en los siglos XVII y XVIII; en la entrada podemos ver el escudo de los duques de Arcos.

C ASTILLO (ARCOS DE LA FRONTERA)

The castle of Arcos de la Frontera is a castle of Arab origin (11th century, Taifa period), when it started to be the residence of the Dukes of Arcos, has at least 3 battlemented towers surrounded by houses and has been several restorations over the 17th and 18th centuries; at the entrance we can see the shield of the Dukes of Arcos.

La iglesia de Santa María de la Asunción es una iglesia que comenzó a construirse en el siglo XIV y tiene estilos muy variados: Mudéjar, Gótico, Renacimiento y Barroco. Por ejemplo la portada de Santa María es gótica, las bóvedas de la Capilla Mayor, la sacristía y el presbiterio son Renacentistas; la fachada de la epístola y su torre es Barroca.

The church of Santa Maria de la Asunción is a church that began to be built in the 14 th century and has different styles: Mudéjar, Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque; For example the façade of Sª Maria is Gothic, the vaults of Great Chapel, the sacristy and the presbytery are Renaissance, and the façade of the Epistle and the tower are Baroque.

LA ENCARNACIÓN (ARCOS DE LA FRONTERA)

El Convento de la Encarnación de Arcos de la Frontera es un edificio del siglo XV, que se ubica en el famoso Callejón de las Monjas, la construcción mezcla los elementos góticos y platerescos, como vemos en la bellísima portada.

The convent of La Encarnación of Arcos de la Frontera is a building of the 15th century, which is located in the famous Callejón de las Monjas, the building mixes Gothic and Plateresque elements, as we can see in the beautiful façade.

LA MERCED (ARCOS DE LA FRONTERA)

El Convento de La Merced de Arcos de la Frontera, es un edificio del siglo XV, restaurado en los siglos posteriores, hoy en día es el último convento de clausura de Arcos de la Frontera, pertenece a la Orden de las Mercedarias Descalzas. La fachada principal es de estilo barroco, con torre central, azulejos y frontón roto.

LA MERCED (ARCOS DE LA FRONTERA)

The Convent of La Merced of Arcos de la Frontera, is a building of the 15th century restored in the following centuries, nowadays it is the last cloister of Arcos de la Frontera, belongs to the Order of the Discalced Mercedaries. The main façade is of Baroque style, with a central tower, tiles and a broken pediment.

PALACIO (ARCOS DE LA FRONTERA)

El Palacio del Conde del Águila, de Arcos de la Frontera, es una bonita casa solariega que se data en el siglo XV, es de estilo gótico y mudéjar, debemos admirar el escudo que corona la puerta, la cantería, la tracería calada y la ventana geminada con el alfiz.

PALACE (ARCOS DE LA FRONTERA)

The palace of the Count of the Eagle, of Arcos de la Frontera is a beuatiful manor house dating from the 15th century, it is of Gothic and Mudéjar style, we must admire the shield that crowns the door, the stonework, the tracery and the Geminated window with the alfiz.

S. PEDRO (ARCOS DE LA FRONTERA)

La iglesia de San Pedro de Arcos de la Frontera es un edificio del siglo XVI-XVII, aunque la torre fue construida en el siglo XVIII, es una torre-fachada de estética barroca. El interior es una única nave y tiene elementos góticos (ábside poligonal), platerescos y barrocos (capillas laterales).

VISITA : Horario de lunes a viernes (10:00-13:00 y 16:00-19:00), sábado y domingo (10:00-13:00).

SAN PEDRO (ARCOS DE LA FRONTERA)

The church of San Pedro de Arcos de la Frontera is a building from the 16th-17th century, although the tower was built in the 18th century, it is a tower-facade of Baroque aesthetics. The inside is a single nave and has Gothic elements (polygonal apse), plateresque and baroque (side chapels).

ACCESO A ARCOS :

La carretera de acceso a la sierra de Cádiz arranca en Jerez de la Frontera es la A-382 (desde la AP-4 se puede acceder por la salida 78), acabando actualmente en Arcos de la Frontera.

ACCESO PARA MINUSVÁLIDOS :

La calle principal de Arcos de la Frontera es una larga cuesta, por ello con silla de ruedas es preciso ayuda adicional, casi todos los monumentos solo se pueden visitar por el exterior pues son propiedades privadas (Castillo, La Merced, La Encarnación y el Palacio), mientras una escalinata impide el acceso a la iglesia de San Pedro y a la de Santa Maria.

ACCESS TO ARCOS:

The access road to the Sierra de Cádiz starts in Jerez de la Frontera is the A-382 (from the AP-4 can be accessed by exit 78), currently ending in Arcos de la Frontera.

ACCESS FOR HANDICAPPED :

The main street of Arcos de la Frontera is a long slope, therefore we consider, that wheelchair users requires additional help, almost all monuments can only be visited from the outside as they are private properties (Castle, La Merced, La Encarnación and the Palace), while a staircase prevents access to the church of San Pedro and Santa María.
