INFORMACIÓN HISTÓRICO-ARTÍSTICA

Puente Viesgo tiene el arte paleolítico más antiguo del planeta (40.800 años). En el Monte del Castillo, en Puente Viesgo hay varias cuevas: El Castillo, Chimeneas, La Pasiega, La Flecha y Las Monedas. La cantidad de figuras (más de 275) y la variedad de fauna representada es amplísima, con ciervos, cabras, caballos, bisontes, y elementos abstractos. Podemos hacer en ellas un viaje por todo el Paleolítico., desde el Achelense y el Musteriense, pasando por el Auriñaciense y Solutrense y culminar en el Magdaleniense.

ACCESO-ACCESIBILIDAD

Puente Viesgo se ubica junto a Torrelavega, por la A-8, coger la salida 223 de Renedo y Vargas, cruzaremos Vargas en dirección a Puente Viesgo donde hay cartelería.

Puente Viesgo has the oldest Paleolithic art on the planet (40,800 years). In Monte del Castillo (Puente Viesgo) there are several caves: El Castillo, Las Chimeneas, La Pasiega, La Flecha and Las Monedas. The number of figures (more than 275) and the variety of fauna represented is very large, with deers, goats, horses, bisons, abstratcs elements. We can make with them a journey through the Paleolithic, from the Acheulean and Mousterian and culminating in the Magdalenian.

ACCESS

Puente Viesgo is located next to Torrelavega, in the A-8, take exit 223 from Renedo and Vargas; cross Vargas in direction to Puente Viesgo; in Puente Viesgo there are signage.

CUEVA DEL PENDO (ESCOBEDO DE CAMARGO)

INFORMACIÓN HISTÓRICO-ARTÍSTICA

El Pendo es un gran salón en embudo, es espectacular el “Friso de las Pinturas”, un gran panel de 25 metros de largo con 12 ciervas, una cabra, un caballo y 2 zoomorfos, ubicado al fondo de la cueva. Fue descubierta por Marcelino Sanz de Sautuola en (1878). La cronología de la cueva del Pendo comienza en el Paleolítico Medio (84.000 años de antigüedad), con grabados del Paleolítico superior hasta la Edad Media. En el pueblo de Escobedo de Camargo también puedes visitar el castillo del collado del siglo IX, de los inicios de la Reconquista y la iglesia parroquial con sus sepulturas.

Pendo is a great hall in funnell, it is spectacular the “Frieze of las Pinturas”, a large panel of 25 meters (82 ft) long with 12 hinds, a goat, a horse and 2 zoomorphics, located at the bottom of the cave. It was discovered by Marcelino Sanz de Sautuola in (1878). The chronology of the Pendo's cave begin from Middle Palaeolithic (84,000 years old), pictures of Upper Palaeolithic to Middle Ages. In the town of Escobedo de Camargo you can also visit the castle of the hill of the 9 th century, from the beginnings of the Reconquest and the parish church with its tombs.

ACCESO-ACCESIBILIDAD

Por la A-67, coge la salida 195 (Puente Arce), en el primer cruce torcer a la derecha, todo recto hasta llegar a la N-611, coger dirección Torrelavega hasta una glorieta con señalización para El Pendo. Si circulas por la S-30 tienes que coger la salida 5 de Camargo, dirección a este pueblo, todo recto hasta el desvío a Arce y rápidamente llegarás a Escobedo. En Escobedo de Camargo tienes cartelería que te guiará hasta la cueva que se ubica en un paraje muy recóndito.

ACCESS

From A-67, take exit 195 (Puente Arce), in the first junction turn right, go straight as far as to arrive N-611, take the road to Torrelavega, to a roundabout with signage for Pendo's cave. If you travel on the S-30 you have to take exit 5 of Camargo, direction to this town, all striaght until the turn-off to Arce and you will quickly reach Escobedo. In Escobedo de Camargo you have signpostes that will guide you to the cave, which is located in a very hidden place.

El acceso a Escobedo de Camargo puede realizarse por la A-67, la N-611 (paralela a la anterior) y por la S-30. Por la A-67 coger la salida 193 “Puente Arce”, después seguir los carteles a Puente Arce y Escobedo. Por la S-30 salirse en la salida 5 “Herrera de Camargo” y después seguir los carteles para Camargo y Escobedo de Camargo.

ACCESS TO ESCOBEDO:

Access to Escobedo de Camargo can be done through the A-67, the N-611 (parallel to the A-67) and the S-30. On the A-67 take exit 193 “Puente Arce”, then follow the signposts to Puente Arce and Escobedo. On the S-30 go out at exit 5 “Herrera de Camargo” and follow the signposts for Camargo and Escobedo de Camargo.

CASTILLO DEL COLLADO – ESCOBEDO

El castillo del Collado de Escobedo de Camargo, es un interesante castillo de inicios de la Edad Media, los expertos lo datan en el siglo VIII y IX, por ello, tuvo un papel destacado a comienzos de la Reconquista, se conserva los cimientos en estado ruinoso, la muralla tiene una anchura de 2,5 m. y es de mampostería.

VISITA: Acceso libre – Acceso no factible para silla de ruedas.

CASTLE OF EL COLLADO – ESCOBEDO

The castle of El Collado of Escobedo de Camargo, is an interesting castle from the beginning of the Medieval Age, the experts date it in the 8 th and 9 th centuries, for this reason, it had a prominent role at the beginning of the Reconquest, the foundations are kept in ruinous state, the wall has a width of 2,5 m (8,2 ft) and it's made of rubblework.

IGLESIA DE S. PEDRO DE ESCOBEDO

La iglesia de San Pedro de Escobedo de Camargo, el templo podría remontarse al siglo IX, pero al parecer fue acabado en el (1500), tiene 3 naves, en el interior sobresale el altar mayor que data del siglo XVI. Conserva algunas tumbas, de una necrópolis excavada en los años 90', con tumbas de los siglos VII y VIII.

CHURCH OF S. PEDRO DE ESCOBEDO

The church of San Pedro of Escobedo de Camargo, is a temple could go back to the 9 th century, but apparently was finished in the (1500), has 3 naves, inside stand out the main altar that dates from the 16 th century. It preserves some tumbs, from a necropolis excavated in the 90's, with burials from the 7 th and 8 th centuries.
