LUCENA: Su pasado hebreo, ha hecho que sea conocida como “La Perla de Sefarad”, curiosamente entre los siglos IX y XII estuvo habitada solo por judíos.

Además de la escuela de Lucena partieron los eruditos hebreos que formaron la famosa Escuela de Traductores de Toledo. Tenemos restos de la necrópolis judía de esta época.

Entre sus monumentos destacamos la iglesia de El Carmen, la iglesia de Santiago, la iglesia de San Mateo, el convento de San Juan de Dios, el palacio de los Condes de Santa Ana (siglo XVIII) y el castillo del Moral.

Muy interesante es el Museo Arqueológico y Etnológico de la localidad de Lucena.

 

LUCENA: Its Jewish past has made it known as “The pearl of Sepharad”, curiously, between the 9 th and 12 th centuries it was inhabited only by the Jews.

In addition from the school of Lucena, come from the Hebrew scholars who formed the School of Translators of Toledo. We have remains of the Jewish necropolis from this time.

LUCENA: En la localidad hay poco aparcamiento, no es recomendable adentrarse mucho.

Te recomendamos aparcar tras pasar la zona de la Repsol. El aparcamiento es gratuito.

Vernur colabora con muchos ayuntamientos en la regulación del tráfico de sus municipios, evitando colapsar algunas zonas, lo que provocaría “Turismofobia”, facilitando a la vez el acceso del visitante tanto al aparcamiento como a los centros históricos.

 

LUCENA: In the locality there is little parking, it is not recommended to enter too far.

We recommend you to park after pass the Repsol area. Parking is free.

Aunque te recomendamos la ruta naranja del plano Vernur, en la localidad podrás dar un bonito paseo.

La distancia máxima en los extremos de esta visita es 600 m. La visita se desarrolla por un espacio plano.

Vernur recomienda que no olvides llevar calzado cómodo y confortable, ropa acorde al clima, un buen sombrero y no olvides hidratarte.

 

LUCENA: The sites are located in the historic area. The church of El Carmen (c. El Carmen, next to Parroco Joaquin Jimenez Muriel St.). The Moral castle (entrance through Pasaje Cristo del Amor). The church of San Mateo (Plaza de San Miguel). The church of Santiago (c. Santiago).

Although we recommend you the orange route at Vernur map, in the locality you'll can take a nice walk.

The maximum distance at the ends of this visit are 600 m. The visit takes place through a space flat.

Vernur recommends that you don't forget to wear comfortable shoes, clothing appropriate to the climate, a good hat and don't forget to hydrate.

 

     
 

LUCENA: En cuanto al firme tenemos (caminos de cemento). Pavimento recio y compacto. Respecto al desnivel es una zona plana. No hay bordillos en las aceras (centro).

Con silla de ruedas el acceso no es factible a la iglesia de El Carmen (escalones) y al castillo del Moral (distintos niveles); pero si a la iglesia de Santiago (rampa metálica de acceso).

La tecnología de las sillas de ruedas ha avanzado mucho, cada vez más ligeras, hay modelos plegables, con todo tipo de adaptaciones, trata de conseguir una moderna, incluso hay ciudades donde se pueden alquilar, contacta con nosotros para añadir información.

 

LUCENA: As for the firm we have (cement roads). The firm is strong and compact. Regarding the unevenness, it is a flat area. There aren't curbs on the sidewalks (centre).

With wheelchair access is not feasible to the church of El Carmén (steps), to the Moral castle (different levels), but you can access to the church of Santiago (metal access ramp).

LUCENA: Tiene un interesante ciclo festivo con su Cabalgata de los Reyes magos, el Carnaval (destacando el concurso de chirigotas), la Semana Santa y las Fiestas Aracelitanas (inicio el penúltimo domingo de abril) en honor a la virgen de Araceli con ofrendas florales y desfiles.

En Lucena hay festivales musicales como el de Jazz (entre mayo y junio) y el Viruta Rock (hacia julio) con grupos emergentes.

Te recomendamos el parque de la Estación, tenemos un merendero, un restaurante (en la antigua estación) y pasa muy cerca la Vía Verde del Aceite un sendero para senderistas y ciclistas.

LUCENA: It has an interesting festive cycle with its Parade of the Three Wise Men, The Carnival (we stand out the chirigotas contest), Holy Week and the Aracelitanas Festivities (starting on the penultimate Sunday of April) in honour of the Virgin of Araceli with floral offerings and parades.

Music festivals such as Jazz (between May and June) and Viruta Rock (around July) with emerging groups are held in Lucena.

We recommend the Estación Park, we have a picnic area, a restaurant (in the old station) and in addition passes very close the Via Verde del Aceite, a path for hikers and cyclists.

En el exterior destacan las 3 portadas, la portada de la virgen es gótica y la de San Miguel y la de San Mateo es de aire renacentista. Dentro sobresale la capilla del sagrario (siglo XVIII) y el retablo mayor de estilo renacentista obra de Jerónimo Hernández y Juan Bautista Vázquez.

El castillo del Moral (Lucena) es de estilo gótico muy alterado. Se data entre los siglos XI y XVIII. El castillo es de planta cuadrada con torres en las esquinas, la torre de homenaje está en el ángulo NW, el acceso se realiza por una puerta de arco apuntado, dentro tenemos el patio de armas, también hay un aljibe. En el siglo XVII y XVIII se hicieron reformas para hacer más residencial el edificio, para los marqueses de Comares.

The Moral castle (Lucena) is Gothic style, very altered. It's dated between the 11 th and 18 th centuries. The castle has a square plan with towers at the corners, the keep is at the NW angle; the keep is at the NW angle, the access is made through a pointed arch door, inside we have the courtyard, there is also a cistern. In the 17 th and 18 th centuries, reformas were made to make the building more residential, for the Marquises of Comares.
