Tenemos una ciudad andalusí, dispone de mezquita, murallas y el famoso “ Gran Salón Rico”. La ciudad organizada jerárquicamente tiene, en la terraza superior el Palacio del Gobernador, por otro lado, las oficinas y viviendas de cortesanos, se ubican en el nivel intermedio y en el más bajo se ubicaban los barracones de la guardia del califa. Cronología califal, fundada por el califa Abd al-Rahman III en el siglo X, en el siglo XI fue destruida por el ejercito bereber.

El horario de invierno (enero-marzo) es martes-sábado de 9:00 a 18:30, domingos y festivos es de 9:00 a 15:30; el horario de primavera (abril a 15 de junio) es martes a sábado de 9:00-20:30 y domingos y festivos es de 9:00 a 15:30: el horario de verano (16 de junio a 15 de septiembre) es de martes a sábado de 9:00-15:30 y domingos y festivos es de 9:00-15:30 y el horario de otoño (16 de septiembre a 31 de diciembre) es de martes a sábado de 9:00-18:30 y domingos y festivos es de 9:00-15:30; los lunes cierra; la entrada es gratis para ciudadanos de la UE.

HISTORICAL-ARTISTIC INFORMATION

We have an Andalusi city, it has a mosque, walls and the famous “Great Hall Rico” We have a city organized hierachically, in the upper is located the Governor's Palace, while the administrative offices and houses of courtiers, are located in the intermediate level and in the lower were the barracks of the caliph's guard. Caliphal chronology, founded by caliph Abd al-Rahman III in the 10th c., was destroyed by the Berber army.

TICKETS AND TIMETABLE

The winter timetable (January – March) is Tuesday – Saturday from 9 to 6,30: Sundays and holidays are from 9 to 3,30; the spring timetable (April to June 15 th ) is Tuesday to Saturday from 9 to 8,30; and Sundays and holidays are from 9 to 3,30; summer timetable (June 16 th to September 15 th ) is from Tuesday to Saturday from 9 to 3,30 and Sundays and holidays is from 9 to 3,30 and the autumn timetable (September 16 th to December 31th) is from Tuesday to Saturday from 9 to 6,30 and Sundays and holidays is from 9 to 3,30; Monday closes; Admission is free for EU citizens, for the rest is € 1,50.

CASTILLO (ALMODOVAR)

El castillo se ubica en el cerro que domina el pueblo, tienen torre de homenaje, torres cuadradas y los muros se rematan en almenas puntiagudas. En el interior hay salas adornadas con aire medieval. La cronología del castillo aunque tienen orígenes andalusíes del siglo VIII, es sobre todo del siglo XIII, por las reformas cristianas de este momento.

VISITA : Horario de verano (abril-septiembre) de lunes a viernes (11:00-14:00 y 16:00-20:00), sábados, domingos y festivos (11:00-20:00). Horario de invierno (octubre-marzo) de lunes a viernes (11:00-14:30 y 16:00-19:00), sábado, domingo y festivos (11:00-19:00). Entrada 9 €.

CASTLE (ALMODOVAR)

The castle is located on the hill that dominates the town, they have a tower of homage, square towers and the walls are finished in pointed battlements. Inside there are rooms adorned with medieval air. The chronology of the castle although they have Andalusian origins of the 8 th century, is mainly of the 13 th century, by the Christian reforms of this moment.

VISIT : Summer timetable (April-September) from Monday to Friday (11:00-14:00 and 16:00-20:00), Saturdays, Sundays and holidays (11:00-20:00). Winter timetable (October-March) from Monday to Friday (11:00-14:30 and 16:00-19:00), Saturday, Sunday and holidays (11:00-19:00). Tickets € 9.

ACCESO A GUADALQUIVIR :

Almodóvar se encuentra a 22 Km. de Córdoba capital, accediéndose fácilmente por la A-431.

MEDINA ZAHARA: Acceso desde Córdoba por la A-431, a 8 Km. coger un desvió a la derecha que lleva al yacimiento, hay indicaciones.

ACCESO PARA MINUSVÁLIDOS :

ALMODOVAR: Visita no factible.

MEDINA ZAHARA: Tiene cuestas importantes que separan los 3 niveles, pero en general Medina Zahara es relativamente accesible.

ACCESS TO GUADALQUIVIR :

Almodovar is 22 kilometers from Córdoba capital, easily accessed by the A-431.

M. ZAHARA: Access from Córdoba on A-431 to 8 Km (4,9 miles), take a turnoff on the right, for the site; there are enough signs.

ACCESS FOR HANDICAPPED :

ALMODOVAR: Visit not feasible.

M. ZAHARA: It has important slopes that separate the 3 levels, but really the site is relatively accessible for wheelchair users.
