Baena: Monumentos y turismo


		BAENA: La Campiña de Baena se ve atravesada por el río Guadajoz, entre medio de olivos y campos de cereal. Son notables los hallazgos arqueológicos del periodo ibérico en Torreparedones (casi todos en el Museo Arqueológico Nacional de Madrid), tras el paso de los romanos, son los musulmanes los primeros constructores de buena parte del pueblo, erigiendo el castillo sobre el cerro que domina la localidad. Fernando III el Santo, conquistó Baena en (1240), después se construyó la iglesia de Santa María sobre la antigua mezquita mayor (siglo XIV). Más tarde se construyó la iglesia de San Bartolomé (siglo XV) y la de Santa Marina (siglo XVIII). Hoy es un pueblo tranquilo con bonitos monumentos y museos (Museo Histórico y Arqueológico).		BAENA: The Baena countryside is crossed by the Guadajoz River, between olive trees and cereal fields. Aarchaeological finds from the Iberian period at the Torreparedones site (mostly in the National Archaeological Museum of Madrid) are remarkable. After the Romans passed through the area, the Muslims were the first builders of a good part of the town, erecting the castle on the hill that dominates the town. Fernando III el Santo, conquered Baena in (1240), later the church of Santa Maria was built on the old main mosque (14 th century). Later the church of San Bartolomé (15 th century), the church of Santa marina (18 th century) were built). Today it is a quiet with beautiful monuments and museums (Historical and Archaeological Museum).

		BAENA: En la localidad hay poco aparcamiento, no es recomendable adentrarse mucho. Hay un aparcamiento junto al parque central de Baena (P1), cerca de la N-432a. El aparcamiento es gratuito. Vernur colabora con muchos ayuntamientos en la regulación del tráfico de sus municipios, evitando colapsar algunas zonas, lo que provocaría “Turismofobia”, facilitando a la vez el acceso del visitante tanto al aparcamiento como a los centros históricos.		BAENA: In the locality there is little parking, it is not recommended to enter too far. There is car park next the central park of Baena, near the N-432a. Parking is free. Vernur collaborates with many town councils in regulating traffic in their municipalities, avoiding the collapse of some areas, which would cause “Tourismphobia”, while facilitating visitor access to both parking and historic centres.

La distancia máxima en los extremos de esta visita es 750 m. La visita se desarrolla por un espacio de fuerte desnivel. The orange and blue line mark the recommended itinerary. The maximum distance at the ends of this visit are 750 m. The visit takes place through a space a steep slope. Vernur recommends that you don't forget to wear comfortable shoes, clothing appropriate to the climate, a good hat and don't forget to hydrate.


		BAENA: En cuanto al firme tenemos (caminos de piedra y cemento). Firme recio y compacto. Respecto al desnivel es zona desnivelada. No hay bordillos en las aceras (solo en el centro). Con silla de ruedas el acceso no es factible al Museo Histórico de la Tercia (escalón), a la iglesia de Santa Marina (escaleras), al castillo de Baena, a la iglesia de Santa María la Mayor (escalera) y a la iglesia de San Bartolomé de Baena (marco puerta). La tecnología de las sillas de ruedas ha avanzado mucho, cada vez más ligeras, hay modelos plegables, con todo tipo de adaptaciones, trata de conseguir una moderna, incluso hay ciudades donde se pueden alquilar, contacta con nosotros para añadir información.		BAENA: As for the firm we have (stone and cement roads). The firm is compact. Regarding the unevenness, it is an uneven area. There aren't curbs on the sidewalks (only in the centre). With wheelchair access is not feasible to the Historical Museum of La Tercia (step) to the church of Santa Marina (stairs), to Baena castle, to the church of Santa María la Mayor (stairs) and the church of San Bartolomé de Baena (door frame). 		BAENA: Te recomendamos como área recreativa el Parque Ramón Santaella, en el centro de Baena, con un bosquecillo muy agradable, varios chiringuitos, columpios para niños y bancos. Entre los eventos populares destacamos la Semana Santa, con un toque pintoresco, gracias a la participación de un peculiar personaje, conocido como “El judío”, un tamborilero que llena de ruido esta fiesta; también son muy bonitas las representaciones de la Pasión. BAENA: We recommend the Ramón Santaella Park as a recreational area, in the centre of Baena, with a very pleasant grove, several beach bars, swings for children and benches. Among the popular events we stand out Holy Week, with a picturesque touch, thanks to the participation of a peculiar character, known as “The Jew”, a drummer who fills this festival with noise; the representations of the Passion are also very beautiful. 		INFO HISTORICO-ARTÍSTICA La iglesia de Santa María la Mayor (Baena) es de estilo gótico-flamígero. Se data en el siglo XIV. La iglesia se construyó sobre una antigua mezquita. En el exterior destacan las portadas platerescas (Puerta del Perdón, Puerta del Ángel y Puerta de Santa Ana). Dentro sobresale la capilla mayor separada por un arco triunfal y bóveda de crucería. El castillo de Baena es de estilo medieval. Se data en el siglo IX, pero desde el siglo XIII en manos cristianas sufrió algunas reformas.

Ha sido excavado por Mª Cruz Fernández Castro (U. Complutense de Madrid) y Barry W. Cunliffe (U. Oxford). El yacimiento se dio a conocer en el s XIX con el hallazgo del llamado “Mausoleo de los Pompeyos”, después se descubrió el mausoleo de La Mazmorra (Alto imperio), y múltiples esculturas romanas; aún conserva la muralla ibérica y un santuario ibero-romano. It has been excavated by Mª Cruz Fernández Castro (U. Complutense of Madrid) and Barry W. Cunliffe (Oxford U.). The site was announced in the 19 th c with the discovery of the so-called “Mausoleum of the Pompeii”, later were discovered the mausoleum of La Mazmorra (Early Empire) and multiple Roman sculptures; it still retains the Iberian wall and an Ibero-Roman sanctuary.
