Cuando nos dicen que toda la vertiente del barranco del Huecar tuvo casas colgadas, realmente lamentamos el paso del tiempo pues la imagen debió de ser espectacular, hoy en día solo se conservan 3 viviendas de origen gótico, restauradas en el siglo XX. Del castillo y la muralla de Cuenca poco se conserva, tanto árabes como cristianos hicieron trabajos defensivos, como el arco de Bezudo.

El castillo de Cuenca, es uno de los escasos testimonios que conserva Cuenca de la fortificación medieval que tuvo, se ubica en la parte alta de la ciudad, conserva el arco Bezudo de medio punto, con el escudo con el toisón; aunque debió construirse en el siglo XII, ha sufrido reformas hasta el siglo XVI.

Las Casas Colgadas de Cuenca, son tan solo una pequeña muestra de lo que eran en el pasado, pues casi todo el barranco del Huecar tenia casa colgadas, hoy tan solo hay 3 viviendas de estilo gótico restauradas en el siglo XX. En una de ellas puede visitarse el museo de Arte Abstracto Español, creado por Fernando Nóbel hay obras de Canogar, Chillida, Feito, Saura, Sempere, Tapiés etc…

El horario del Museo Abstracto es de martes a viernes (11:00-14:00 y 16:00-18:00), sábados de (11:00-14:00 y 16:00-20:00) y domingos (11:00-14:30). Entrada 3€.

The Hanging Houses of Cuenca, are only a small sample of this structure in the past, because almost all the gorge of the Huecar had hanging houses, today there are only 3 houses of Gothic style restored in the 20 th century. In a house you can visit the Museum of Spanish Abstract Art, created by Fernanzo Zobel, there are works by Canogar, Chillida, Feito, Saura, Sempere, Tapiés etc...

INFORMACIÓN HISTORICO-ARTÍSTICA

La catedral de Cuenca es una construcción iniciada en el siglo XII, pero las naves se datan en el siglo XIV; mientras las capillas se datan entre los siglos XVI-XVII y la fachada actual es una fuerte reforma del siglo XX; en el interior podemos admirar las bóvedas de crucería y la formidable sillería de coro.

The cathedral of Cuenca is a building started in the 12 th century, but the naves date back to the 14 th century; while the chapels are dated between 16 th -17 th centuries and the present façade is a strong reform of the 20 th century; inside we can admire the ribbed vaults and the wonderful choir stalls.

 

HORARIOS- ENTRADA

La entrada general es de 3,80 €, hay entradas reducidas, el horario de verano (junio-septiembre) es de lunes a viernes de 10:00-14:00 y de 17:00-19:00, sábados y festivos es de 10:00-18:00; el horario de invierno es de lunes a viernes de 10:00-14:00 y de 16:00-17:00, sábados y festivos es de 10:00-18:00.

ACCESO

A Cuenca podrás acceder por la A-40 y A-3 si vienes de Madrid, si vienes por Valencia debes de coger la A-3 hasta Motilla del Palancar donde tendrás que coger la CM-220 que conduce a Cuenca.

ACCESO PARA MINUSVÁLIDOS

Solo el exterior del castillo es factible para silla de ruedas, y para la catedral la entrada principal no es accesible por la escalinata, pero hay un acceso por la plaza de los Canónigos o calle Obispo Valero. Con silla de ruedas el acceso no es factible al Museo de Arte Abstracto

Ticket 3,80 €, there are reduced tickets; summer timetable (June-September) is from Monday to Friday from 10:00 to 14:00 and from 17:00 to 19:00; Saturday and holidays are 10:00-18:00; winter timetable are from Monday to Friday from 10:00 to 14:00 and from 16:00-17:00 Saturdays & public holidays are 10:00 to 16:00.

LOCATION

To Cuenca you can to access from Madrid by A-3 and A-40. If you come from Valencia you should tale the A-3 to Motilla del Palancar where you will have to take the CM-229 that go to Cuenca.

ACCESS FOR THE HANDICAPPED

Only the outside of the castle is feasible for wheelchairs, and for the cathedral the main entrance isn't accessible by the staircase, but there is an access in the Plaza de los Canónigos or Obispo Valero St. Wheelchair access is not feasible to the Museum of Abstract Art.
