ALMENARA: Junto al parque eólico se descubrió un castro celtibérico, que por el momento es el testimonio más antiguo de la localidad.

Después los musulmanes construyeron un alcázar, que daría nombre a la localidad (lugar donde hay luz, o atalaya para hacer señales).

Sin embargo, los cristianos reformaron mucho el castillo en los siglos XIV y XV y es el principal monumento, junto con la iglesia de La Asunción.

En el pueblo hay rutas de senderismo muy interesantes y atractivas. Algunas están señalizadas (carteles y balizas). La ruta del Cerro de la Cruz es muy interesante.

ALMENARA: Next to the wind farm, a interesting Celtiberian fort was discovered by archaeologists, which at the moment is the oldest testimony of the town.

P. ALMENARA: From the A-3 (Madrid-Valencia), get off at the same turnoff of Segóbriga (exit 104) and go down a few kilometres further south taking the CM-3011 that goes to Puebla de Almenara.

P. ALMENARA: Hay espacio junto al castillo (avanza por la pista que hay junto a la ermita). El aparcamiento es gratuito.

P. ALMENARA: En cuanto al firme tenemos (caminos de tierra). Pavimento recio y compacto.

Respecto al desnivel es una zona de cuestas. Visita no apta para sillas de ruedas.

La tecnología de las sillas de ruedas ha avanzado mucho, cada vez más ligeras, hay modelos plegables, con todo tipo de adaptaciones, trata de conseguir una moderna, incluso hay ciudades donde se pueden alquilar, contacta con nosotros para añadir información.

P. ALMENARA: As for the firm we have (dirt roads). The firm is strong and compact.

Regarding the unevenness, it is a sloped area. Visit isn't suitable for wheelchairs.

PUEBLA DE ALMENARA: Existe un área recreativa junto a la Ermita de Nuestra Señora de la Misericordia, en un pequeño bosque con merendero.

PUEBLA DE ALMENARA: There is a recreational area next to the hermitage of Nuestra Señora de la Misericordia, in a small forest with a picnic area.

INFO HISTÓRICO-ARTÍSTICA

Conserva buena parte de la muralla y de sus torres circulares, dispone de una magnífica torre de homenaje, de mampostería y de sillería; en el interior puede verse el patio de armas, un aljibe, caballerizas y aposentos.

En tiempos andalusíes ya existió algún tipo de torre árabe, pero el edifico es sin duda del siglo XII, siendo custodiado por la Orden de Santiago. A mediados del siglo XIV estaba en poder del infante Don Juan Manuel.

Es un castillo en ruinas de una gran belleza, poco conocido (finca privada).

Se data en el siglo XVI y es de estilo renacentista. Se accede por una pista al SE de Saelices.
