Segobriga: Monumentos y turismo

INTRODUCCIÓN

Tenemos una magnífica ciudad romana, con teatro, anfiteatro, foro, termas, numerosas viviendas etc… La ciudad creció gracias a la explotación de minas de Lapis specularis , muy abundantes por buena parte de la provincia de Cuenca, destacando las de Osa de la Vega. Todo ello se complementa con la exposición del Museo del Yacimiento.

Cronología del yacimiento romano-visigoda. La ciudad parece fundarse en el siglo I a.C., tiene su apogeo en los siglos I y II, inicia una cierta decadencia en el siglo III a.C., pero sigue ocupada en tiempos tardorromanos y visigodos.

We have a wonderful Roman city, with theater, amphitheater, forum, thermal baths, several houses etc... The city grew thanks to mines of lapis specularis, very abundant in the province of Cuenca; highlighting those of Osa de la Vega. You'll complete the visit with the exhibition of the site's museum.

Chronology of the Roman-Visigothic site. The city seems to be founded in the first century BC, it has its apogee in the first and second centuries, begins a certain decline in the 3 rd century BC, but is still occupied in Late Roman and Visigoth times.

También las ciudades más pequeñas de Hispania tuvieron su propio teatro, como es el caso de Segobriga, conserva muy bien el graderio y el muro del frente escénico. Actualmente se emplea para representaciones y actos.

El anfiteatro de Segobriga es de planta elíptica, conserva su graderio y el muro que lo separa del foso. Se estima que el anfiteatro pudo albergar hasta a 5.500 usuarios.

The amphitheater of Segobriga is elliptical, it preserves the stands and the wall that separates it from the arena. It is believed that the amphitheater could house up to 5,500 users.

Una gran plataforma en el centro de la ciudad romana, era el antiguo foro romano de Segobriga, unas inscripciones dan cuenta de su ubicación, estaba decorado con esculturas y mármoles.

A large platform in the center of the Roman city, was the ancient Roman forum of Segobriga, inscriptions give account of its location, it was decorated with sculptures and marbles.

La basílica romana de Segobriga era el edificio donde se administraba justicia y se realizaban transacciones comerciales. Estaba construido en opus africanus, un aparejo muy típico para estas estructuras y disponía de gruesas columnas.

The Roman basilica of Segobriga was the building where justice was executed and commercial transactions were carried out, It was built in opus africanus, a very typical work for these structures and had thick columns.

Las termas romanas de Segobriga conservan buena parte de sus estructuras resaltando el “apodyterium”, el lugar donde los usuarios se desnudaban y dejaban en unas hornacinas sus ropajes.

Se conservan restos de la muralla, de la puerta prinicpal, algunas calzadas, restos de canalizaciones de un antiguo acueducto. No podemos olvidar los restos de época visigoda, en concreto la basílica de Cabeza de Griego y las tumbas que rodean el Museo.

Remains of the wall, the main door, some roads, remains of pipes of an old aqueduct are preserved. We can't forget the remains of the Visigothic period, specifically the Basilica of Cabeza de Griego and the tombs that surround the Museum.
