PORTO: Es la segunda ciudad de Portugal, se ubica en la antigua región de Douro Litoral, en el actual distrito de Porto. Sabemos que griegos y romanos conocieron un pequeño enclave que llamaron Cale, después fue tomado por suevos y visigodos.

Tras el dominio musulmán, la nobleza gallega, reconquisto toda la zona, estableciéndose el condado Portucalense que se independizó en (1139).

Los bonitos monumentos de la ciudad del Duero, han permitido su declaración como Patrimonio de la Humanidad. Es una ciudad conocida mundialmente por sus vinos. Entre los monumentos más interesantes de la zona alta de la ciudad citaremos la torre dos Clérigos, la Librería Lello, el mosteiro de São Bento y la iglesia de Santo Ildefonso.

Oporto es una gran ciudad y tiene servicio de metro, puedes acceder a una localidad del extrarradio metropolitano y no entrar con coche. Por el norte hay metro en Vila do Conde (en la costa), por el sur hay metro en Vila Nova de Gaia y por el este una buena opción es el Estadio do Dragão (junto a la A-20).

PORTO: Te recomendamos que entres por el rio Duero y que cuando llegues al Palacio de la Bolsa, subas por la Rua de Mouzinho da Silveira con el coche hasta la zona de São Bento (varios parking), pues esta cuesta es muy dura.

Vernur colabora con muchos ayuntamientos en la regulación del tráfico de sus municipios, evitando colapsar algunas zonas, lo que provocaría “Turismofobia”, facilitando a la vez el acceso del visitante tanto al aparcamiento como a los centros históricos.

PORTO: En cuanto al firme tenemos (caminos de piedra y cemento). Pavimento recio y compacto. Respecto al desnivel es una zona de cuestas. Hay bordillos en las aceras.

Con silla de ruedas acceso no factible a la iglesia de San Ildefonso , a la torre dos Clérigos; a São Bento y a la famosisima librería Lello (escalón).

La tecnología de las sillas de ruedas ha avanzado mucho, cada vez más ligeras, hay modelos plegables, con todo tipo de adaptaciones, trata de conseguir una moderna, incluso hay ciudades donde se pueden alquilar.

HOTEL – En Porto el Hotel Catalonia es una buena opción, nos informan que tienen varias opciones para aparcamiento. Acceso al hotel sin barreras y una habitación con servicios adaptados. Buena atención personal.

La iglesia-torre de los Clérigos es un edificio de estilo barroco que data de mediados del siglo XVIII, la torre mide 76 m. según algunos expertos es la más alta de Portugal y permite ver excepcionales panorámicas de Oporto; el acceso se hace por una escalera de 200 escalones, dispone además de 49 campanas.

La iglesia de San Ildefonso es un edificio del siglo XVIII, de estilo barroco; en el exterior sobresale la fachada decorada con más de 11.000 azulejos de color azul y blanco, creados por el genial artista Jorge Colaço; las escenas representan la vida del santo (San Ildefonso) y diversos pasajes del Evangelio.
