SESIMBRA: Se ubica en la antigua región de Estremadura, en el actual distrito de Setúbal. Los historiadores afirman que los celtas llamaron a Sesimbra, Cempsibriga.

Tras el paso de romanos y musulmanes, el rey Dinis I fundo una villa de pescadores que comenzó a dedicarse a la fabricación de embarcaciones, siendo de capital importancia después en los Descubrimientos geográficos de Portugal.

Entre los principales monumentos citaremos el Castelo que corona un alto cerro, dentro podemos admirar una cisterna para soportar sitios, el museo y la iglesia del Castelo.

En el casco histórico de Sesimbra puedes visitar el Forte de São Tiago y la iglesia de São Tiago.

SESIMBRA: It is located in the old region of Estremadura , in the current district of Sétubal. Historians affirm that the Celts called Sesimbra, Cempsibriga.

After the passage of Romans and Muslims, King Dinis I founded a fishing village that began to dedicate itself to the manufacture of boats, being of capital importance later in the geographical discoveries of Portugal.

Among the main monuments we will mention the Castelo that crowns a high hill, inside we can admire a cistern to support sieges, the museum and the church of the Castelo.

In the historic centre of Sesimbra you can visit the Forte de São Tiago and the church of São Tiago.

SESIMBRA: Desde Lisboa se accede por la A-2 (carretera de peaje, gratis en el tramo Lisboa-salida 2) y por la salida 2 coger la N-378, antes de llegar a Sesimbra se ve el cartel marrón “Castelo”.

También puedes acceder desde Setúbal por la N-10 y en Azeitão coger la N-379.

SESIMBRA: From Lisbon, take the A-2 (toll motorway, but free in this section Lisbon-exit 2) and by the exit 2 take exit N-378, before reaching Sesimbra you can see the brown sign for “Castelo”.

Also you can access from Setubal by N-10 and in Azeit ã o take the N-379.

SESIMBRA: En la localidad hay poco aparcamiento, no es recomendable adentrarse mucho.

Hay un parking pequeño al pie del cerro del castillo. El aparcamiento es gratuito.

Vernur colabora con muchos ayuntamientos en la regulación del tráfico de sus municipios, evitando colapsar algunas zonas, lo que provocaría “Turismofobia”, facilitando a la vez el acceso del visitante tanto al aparcamiento como a los centros históricos.

SESIMBRA: In the locality there is little parking, it is not recommended to enter too far.

There is a small parking at the foot of the castle hill, but they have made an access to the top with parking. Parking is free.

Vernur collaborates with many town councils in regulating traffic in their municipalities, avoiding the collapse of some areas, which would cause “Tourismphobia”, while facilitating visitor access to both parking and historic centres.

SESIMBRA: Todos los enclaves están junto al complejo del castillo, dentro de sus murallas (la iglesia de Santa María do Castelo y el Museo Arqueológico de Sesimbra).

La distancia máxima en los extremos de esta visita es 500 m. La visita se desarrolla por un espacio de fuerte desnivel (acceso) y plano (planicie superior).

El entorno natural es muy bonito e interesante e invita a conocerlo con rutas de senderismo.

Vernur recomienda que no olvides llevar calzado cómodo y confortable, ropa acorde al clima, un buen sombrero y no olvides hidratarte.

SESIMBRA: All the sites are located next to the castle complex, inside its walls (the church of Santa María do Castelo and the Archaeological Museum of Sesimbra).

The maximum distance at the ends of this visit are 500 m. The visit takes place through a space a steep slope (access to the castle) and flat (upper plain).

The natural environment is beautiful and interesting, and invite to visit with hiking routes.

Vernur recommends that you don't forget to wear comfortable shoes, clothing appropriate to the climate, a good hat and don't forget to hydrate.

SESIMBRA: En cuanto al firme tenemos (caminos de tierra y piedra). Pavimento recio y compacto. Respecto al desnivel es una zona de fuerte desnivel (acceso) y plana (planicie superior) .

La entrada al interior del castillo es posible con silla de ruedas, pero no subir a torres o al adarve. Con silla de ruedas el acceso no es factible al Museo Arqueológico (escalones) y a la iglesia de Santa María do Castelo (escalones).

La tecnología de las sillas de ruedas ha avanzado mucho, cada vez más ligeras, hay modelos plegables, con todo tipo de adaptaciones, trata de conseguir una moderna, incluso hay ciudades donde se pueden alquilar, contacta con nosotros para añadir información.

SESIMBRA: As for the firm we have (dirt and stone roads). The firm is strong and compact. Regarding the unevenness, it is a steep slope area (access to the castle) and flat area (upper plain).

The entrance to the castle inside is possible with wheelchair, but not the ascent to towers or the wall walk. With wheelchair access is not feasible to the Archaeological Museum (steps) and the church of Santa María do Castelo (steps).

INFO HISTÓRICO-ARTÍSTICA

Sobre el castillo árabe, el rey Alfonso Henríquez construyó un nuevo castillo en el siglo XII, fue abandonado en el siglo XVI; más tarde en el siglo XVII se doto de nuevas estructuras de tipo baluarte, el terremoto de (1755) lo daño mucho, y no fue restaurado hasta (1939).
