SINES: Se ubica en la antigua región de Baixo Alentejo, en el actual distrito de Setúbal.

Romanos, vándalos y visigodos dominaron la localidad, hasta la conquista musulmana; después la orden de Santiago lidero la reconquista en (1217); aquí nació el insigne Vasco de Gama el más grande navegante portugués.

Entre los principales monumentos, destacaremos el Castelo, el Forte del Revellim la iglesia matriz de São Salvador y la estatua del genial Vasco de Gama. También recomendamos el interesante Museo Arqueológico.

También dispone de un interesante patrimonio natural como es el Parque Natural del Suroeste Alentejano y Costa Vicentina.

SINES: It is located in the old region of Baixo Alentejo, in the current district of Setúbal.

Romans, Vandals and Visigoths dominated the town, until the Muslim conquest; later the famous order of Santiago led the reconquest in (1217); Vasco de Gama, the greatest Portuguese navigator, was born here.

Among the main monuments, we will stand out the Castelo, the Forte del Revellim, the main church of São Salvador and the statue of Vasco de Gama. We also recommend the interesting Archaeological Museum.

It also has an interesting natural heritage such as the Natural Park of Southwest Alentejo and Costa Vicentina.

SINES: Tiene tres grandes conexiones: Por la A-26-1 y N-261 vamos a Melides y Grandola.

Por la A-26 y N-261-3 vamos a Santiago do Cacem. Por la N-120-1 y N-120 vamos a Tangaheira y Cercal.

SINES: En la localidad hay poco aparcamiento, no es recomendable adentrarse mucho.

Te hemos señalizado varios aparcamientos (P1 y P2), pero llegar es complicado (trazado irregular, calles de un único sentido). El aparcamiento es gratuito. Aparcar en la Av. Gen. Humberto Delgado es ideal (250 m. hasta el Castelo desde G-3).

Vernur colabora con muchos ayuntamientos en la regulación del tráfico de sus municipios, evitando colapsar algunas zonas, lo que provocaría “Turismofobia”, facilitando a la vez el acceso del visitante tanto al aparcamiento como a los centros históricos.

SINES: In the locality there is little parking, it is not recommended to enter too far.

We have signalled several car parks (P1 and P2), but go there is complicated (irregular street, and one way streets) Parking is free. Park at Gen. Humberto Delgado Avenue is ideal (250 m. to the Castelo from G-3).

Vernur collaborates with many town councils in regulating traffic in their municipalities, avoiding the collapse of some areas, which would cause “Tourismphobia”, while facilitating visitor access to both parking and historic centres.

SINES: La zona donde se concentran los monumentos es el Centro Histórico.

Aquí podemos ver algunos monumentos como el Castelo, la iglesia matriz (precioso interior), las ruinas romanas (protegidas por una estructura acristalada), el interesante museo y la estatua de Vasco de Gama.

La distancia en los extremos de esta visita es 150 m. La visita se desarrolla por un espacio plano (alguna ligera cuesta).

Vernur recomienda que no olvides llevar calzado cómodo y confortable, ropa acorde al clima, un buen sombrero y no olvides hidratarte.

SINES: The area where the monuments are concentrated is the Historic Centre.

Here we can see some monuments such as the Castelo, the parish church (beautiful interior), the Roman remains (protected by a glazed structure), the interesting museum and the statue of Vasco de Gama.

The maximum distance at the ends of this visit are 150 m. The visit takes place through a space flat (some light slope).

Vernur recommends that you don't forget to wear comfortable shoes, clothing appropriate to the climate, a good hat and don't forget to hydrate.

SINES: En cuanto al firme tenemos (caminos de piedra). Pavimento recio y compacto. Respecto al desnivel es una zona plana (alguna ligera cuesta) . No hay bordillos en las aceras (centro).

Con respecto al acceso con silla de ruedas a Sines, podrás entrar dentro del Castelo, pero no a la iglesia.

La tecnología de las sillas de ruedas ha avanzado mucho, cada vez más ligeras, hay modelos plegables, con todo tipo de adaptaciones, trata de conseguir una moderna, incluso hay ciudades donde se pueden alquilar, contacta con nosotros para añadir información.

SINES: As for the firm we have (dirt roads, gravel roads, sand roads, cement roads). The firm is strong and compact. Regarding the unevenness, it is a flat area. There aren't curbs on the sidewalks.

Respect the access for wheelchair users, in Sines you can enter in the Castle but not in the church.

Wheelchair technology has advanced significantly, they are becoming lighter, there are folding models, with all kinds of adaptions, always try to get a modern one, there are even cities where they can be rented, contact us to add information.

SINES: Son muy interesantes las playas que se localizan al sur de Sines, como la Praia de Sao Torpes y la Praia de Morgavel, con chiringuitos y camping.

The beaches located south of Sines are very interesting, such as Praias de São Torpes and Praia de Morgavel, with beach bars and camping sites.

INFO HISTÓRICO-ARTÍSTICA

El castelo de Sines es un castillo de sillarejo, con perfil almenado, dentro se ubica la torre de homenaje, en los muros se pueden contemplar elementos visigóticos del siglo VII, el castillo es reformado en el siglo XIII y en el siglo XV con la conquista cristiana, integrándose en la Orden Militar de Santiago con Alfonso III de Portugal.

La iglesia matriz de San Salvador de Sines dispone de frontón triangular, coronado con cruz; torre cuadrada con una estética barroca, con pináculos del siglo XVIII, esquinas de buena sillería y acceso por corta escalinata; en el interior destacan los azulejos de la capilla mayor.

Sines tiene una larga lista de monumentos, nosotros destacamos la iglesia de Nossa Senhora da Soledade, la iglesia del Espiritu Santo, varias interesantes ermitas (Sao Bartolomeu). También Sines tiene fuertes abaluartados como el fuerte do Revelim y el fuerte do Pessegueiro.

Entre los monumentos escultóricos citaremos la estatua del Bombero y la estatua de Vasco de Gama, el gran navegante portugués.
