INFORMACIÓN HISTORICO-ARTÍSTICA

El castillo de San Ferrán es la fortaleza abaluartada más grande de Europa, se edifico en el siglo XVIII, desde (1988) es BIC, dispone de 32 Ha, y muros de 3.120 m. de perímetro, las cisternas ubicadas en el patio tienen una capacidad de 40 millones de litros.

HORARIOS-ENTRADA

El horario de otoño-invierno es de 10:30 a 15:00; el de Semana Santa es de 10:00 a 20:00, en verano (julio-septiembre) el horario es de 10:00 a 20:00, resto del año de 10:30 a 18:00.

The castle of San Ferran is the largest bulwarked fortress in Europe, was built in the 18 th century, since (1988) is BIC, has 32 Ha. and walls of 3.120 m. (10.233 ft) of perimeter, the cisterns located in the courtyard have a capacity of 40 million liters.

TICKETS AND TIMETABLE

The autumn-winter timetable is from 10,30 am to 3 pm; the Easter Week timetable is from 10 am to 8 pm; in summer (July-September) the timetable is from 10 am to 8 pm; rest of the year from 10,30 am to 6 pm.

INFORMACIÓN HISTORICO-ARTÍSTICA

Tenemos unas conocidísimas ruinas greco-romanas, la colonia griega se ubica junto a la costa, tiene una zona metalúrgica, murallas, una fábrica de salazones, un macellum, un muelle helenístico, y una magnifica red de alcantarillado; después sobre ella se construyó una basílica paleocristiana en los siglos IV-VII; más al interior tenemos la ciudad romana, con su foro, y sus murallas, anfiteatro, templos y basílica.

La cronología arranca en el siglo VI a.C. con la fundación griega, hacia el s. II a.C. se instalan los romanos, que conocerá la llegada de los visigodos, el ataque normando del siglo IX, hasta su abandono en tiempos medievales.

HORARIOS

El horario de verano (junio-septiembre) de lunes a domingo es de 10:00-20:00, el horario de otoño (octubre-15 de noviembre) es de lunes a domingo de 10:00-18:00, el horario de invierno (16 de noviembre a 15 de febrero) de martes a domingo de 10:00-17:00 y el horario de primavera (16 de febrero-31 de mayo) es de lunes a domingo de 10:00-18:00. Entrada de 5€, hay varias entradas reducidas.

HISTORICAL-ARTISTIC INFORMATION

We have a very important Greek-Romans ruins, the greek city is located next to the coast, it has identified a metallurgical area, monumental walls, a salt factory, a macellum, the Hellenistic port, with a interesting sewer net; later on it was built a Early-Christian basilica in the 4 th -7 th centuries; more inland we have the Roman city, with its forum and its walls, an amphitheater, temples and basilica.

The chronology begins in 6 th century BC with the Greek foundation, towards the 2 nd century BC are installed the Romans, who will know the arrival of Visigoths, the Norman attack in 9 th century, until the abandonment in Medieval times.

Summer timetable (June-September) from Monday to Sunday is from 10 to 8; the Autumn time (October-November 15 th ) is from Monday to Sunday from 10 to 8; the winter time (November 16 th to February 15 th ) is from Tuesday to Sunday from 10 to 5 and the spring time (February 16 th to may 31th) is from Monday to Sunday from 10 to 6. General rate € 5.

SAN FERRAN: A Figueras puede accederse por la AP-7 o por la N-II desde Gerona y Francia; o por la A-26 y N-260 desde Olot. El castillo se ubica en la zona NW de Figueras, se recomienda coger la N-IIa que pasa muy cerca del castillo.

AMPURIAS: El acceso a L'Escala es sencillo puede hacerse desde la A-7 desde Orriols y Camallera.

ACCESO PARA MINUSVÁLIDOS

SAN FERRAN: Las dimensiones gigantescas del recinto pueden ser agotadoras para un usuario de silla de ruedas, que deberá ser selectivo en la visita.

AMPURIAS: Caminos de grava de transito aceptable, pero hay algunos sectores con escaleras.

ACCESS TO BAIX EMPORDÀ

LOCATION

SAN FERRAN: Figueras can be accessed by the AP-7 or by the N-II from Girona and France; or by the A-26 and N-260 from Olot. The castle is located in the NW area of Figueras, it is recommended to take the N-IIa that passes very close to the castle.

AMPURIAS: Access to L'Escala is simple and can be done from the A-7 from Orriols and Camallera.

ACCESS FOR THE HANDICAPPED

SAN FERRAN: The large dimensions of the enclosure can be exhausting for a wheelchair user, who must be selective in the visit.

AMPURIAS: Acceptable road of gravels, but there are some sectors with stairs.
