BAZA: Era una zona rica en metales conocida desde el Calcolítico. El pueblo era conocido en tiempos ibéricos y romanos como Basti. Los árabes la llamaron Batza, de donde deriva el nombre.

Entre los monumentos más importantes podemos citar la iglesia de Santiago, la iglesia de la Encarnación, el palacio de los Enríquez, el castillo de Benzalema, los baños árabes y el yacimiento arqueológico de Basti, donde se encontró la famosa Dama de Baza, es muy interesante realizar una visita al Museo Arqueológico de Baza.

Baza también tiene parajes bellísimos en el Parque Natural de la Sierra de Baza, podemos disfrutar de humedales, bosques de ribera y aves migratorias.

 

BAZA: It was a rich area in metals known since Chalcolithic. The town was known in Iberian and Roman times as Basti. The Arabs called it Batza, from which the name derives.

BAZA: En la localidad hay poco aparcamiento, no es recomendable adentrarse mucho.

Hay aparcamiento a la entrada (Carretera de Murcia). El aparcamiento es gratuito.

Vernur colabora con muchos ayuntamientos en la regulación del tráfico de sus municipios, evitando colapsar algunas zonas, lo que provocaría “Turismofobia”, facilitando a la vez el acceso del visitante tanto al aparcamiento como a los centros históricos.

  

BAZA: In the locality there is little parking, it is not recommended to enter too far.

There is parking at the entrance (local road of Murcia). Parking is free.

BAZA: La zona donde se concentran los monumentos es el Centro Histórico. Aquí podemos ver algunos monumentos como la Alcazaba, los baños árabes, la con-catedral de la Encarnación, los Caños Dorados y el Museo Arqueológico.

Aunque te recomendamos la ruta azul del plano Vernur, en la localidad podrás dar un bonito paseo, en especial por la zona de la Plaza Mayor (PM).

La distancia máxima en los extremos de esta visita es 800 m. La visita se desarrolla por un espacio con ligera cuesta.

Vernur recomienda que no olvides llevar calzado cómodo y confortable, ropa acorde al clima, un buen sombrero y no olvides hidratarte.

 

BAZA: The area where the monuments are concentrated is the Historic Centre . Here we can see some monuments such as the Alcazaba, the Arab Baths, the con-cathedral of la Encarnación, the Caños Dorados and the Archaeological Museum.

Although we recommend you the blue route at Vernur map, in the locality you'll can take a nice walk. Especially by the Plaza Mayor area (PM).

The maximum distance at the ends of this visit are 800 m. The visit takes place through a space with light slope.

BAZA: En cuanto al firme tenemos (caminos de piedra y cemento). Pavimento recio y compacto. Respecto al desnivel es una zona de ligera cuesta. Hay bordillos en las aceras.

Hay monumentos accesibles como el museo arqueológico (nivel de calle) o los Baños Árabes (rampa de acceso de mármol). Pero hay otros con serias dificultades como la catedral (escaleras).

La tecnología de las sillas de ruedas ha avanzado mucho, cada vez más ligeras, hay modelos plegables, con todo tipo de adaptaciones, trata de conseguir una moderna, incluso hay ciudades donde se pueden alquilar, contacta con nosotros para añadir información.

 

BAZA: As for the firm we have (stone and cement roads). The firm is strong and compact. Regarding the unevenness, it is a light sloped area. There are curbs on the sidewalks.

BAZA: Te recomendamos la visita al parque Natural de la Sierra de Baza, el acceso se ubica en la salida 28 de la A-92N (indicado con carteles), primero iras paralelo por la autovía hasta una caseta, aquí giras a izquierda, si coges el desvió cruz de la Chaparra podrás acceder al mirador de Narváez que está a menos de 1 Km. Es muy interesante desde aquí continuar por los senderos la visita.

We recommend a visit to the Sierra de Baza Natural Park, access is located at exit 28 of the A-92N (indicated with signs), first you will go parallel along the highway to a booth, here you turn left, if you take the detour to Cruz de la Chaparra, you can access the Narvaez viewpoint, which is less than 1 Km away. It is very interesting from here to continue the visit along the paths.

We stand out the Iberian-Roman site of Basti (Baza), in the famous cerro Cepero, an important Iron Age settlement. A complete visit includes the oppidum, the necropolis and the Interpretation Centre. We recommend the Archaeological Municipal Museum of Baza, where it show the remains found in the excavations. The site is very famous because it was the place where it was found the Dama de Baza (preserved in the MAN, Madrid).

La Alcazaba (Baza) fue una imponente fortaleza, inexpugnable, pero hoy apenas conserva unos lienzos y algunas torres.

Se han documentado tres fases constructivas una taifa (s. XI-XII), otra nazarí (XIII-XIV) y otra cristiana (s. XVI).

Hay varias torres y castillos en la localidad. Muy monumental es la fuente de Caños Dorados.
