CATEDRAL DE SANTA MARÍA (HUESCA)

INFORMACIÓN HISTORICO-ARTÍSTICA

La antigua catedral de Huesca comienza a construirse en (1273) sobre una mezquita y se terminó hacia (1515), básicamente es un templo gótico, aunque algunos elementos como arcos y parte del claustro pertenecen a la antigua iglesia románica de Santa María de Los Gozos; la fachada principal es de estilo gótico de (1539), mientras la torre gótica es de (1369-1423), en el interior sobresale el retablo de Damian Forment (1520).

HORARIOS-ENTRADA

Horario de verano (junio-septiembre) de 10:00 a 14:00 y de 16:00 a 19:30 de lunes a sábado; el horario de otoño (octubre) es de lunes a viernes de 10:00 a 13:30 y de 16:00 a 18:00 y los sábados solo de 10:00 a 13:30; el horario de invierno (noviembre-marzo) es de lunes a sábado de 10:00 a 13:00 y el horario de primavera (abril-mayo) es de lunes a viernes de 10:00 a 13:30 y de 16:00 a 18:00 y el sábado de 10:00 a 18:00. Entrada 2,50 €.
   

CATHEDRAL OF SANTA MARÍA (HUESCA)

HISTORICAL-ARTISTIC INFORMATION

The cathedral of Huesca begins to be built in (1273) on a mosque and finished towards (1515), is basically a Gothic temple, although some elements like arches and part of the cloister belong to the old Romanesque church of Santa María de Los Gozos; the main façade is of Gothic style (1539), while the Gothic tower is from (1369-1423), inside we highlight the altarpiece of Damian Forment (1520).

TICKETS AND TIMETABLE

The summer time (June-September) is from 10 to 2 and from 4 to 7,30 from Monday to Saturday; the autumn timetable (October) is from Monday to Friday from 10 to 1,30 and from 4 to 6 and on Saturdays only from 10 to 1,30; the winter time (November-March) is from Monday to Saturday from 10 to 1 and the spring timetable (April-May) is from Monday to Friday from 10 to 1,30 and from 4 to 6 and on Saturday from 10 to 6. Ticket € 2,50.

 
 

IGLESIA DE SAN PEDRO EL VIEJO (HUESCA)

INFORMACIÓN HISTORICO-ARTÍSTICA

La iglesia de San Pedro el Viejo es un edificio románico (siglo XII), muchos elementos son de factura tardorrománica como el cimborrio de crucería; en el claustro puede verse la capilla de San Bartolomé de estilo mozárabe, lo que fue Sala Capitular se transformó en Panteón Real y alberga las tumbas de Alfonso I el Batallador y de su hermano Ramiro II el Monje.

HORARIOS-ENTRADA

Horario de lunes a sábados de 10:00 a 13:30 y de 16:30 a 18:00; domingos y festivos es de 11:00 a 12:15 y de 13:10 a 14:00. Entrada 2,50 €.
   

CHURCH OF SAN PEDRO EL VIEJO - HUESCA

HISTORICAL-ARTISTIC INFORMATION

The church of San Pedro is a Romanesque building (12 th century), many elements are of Late-Romanesque origin like the ribbed vault; in the cloister can be seen the chapel of St. Bartholomew in Mozarabic style (Chapter House) transformed in the Royal Pantheon, today houses the tombs of Alfonso I el Batallador (the Battler), and his brother Ramiro II el Monje (the Monk).

TICKETS AND TIMETABLE

The timetable from Monday to Saturday is from 10 to 1,30 and from 4,30 to 6, Sundays and public holidays is 11-12,15 and 1,10-2. Ticket € 2,50.
 
 

CONVENTO DE SAN MIGUEL (HUESCA)

INFORMACIÓN HISTORICO-ARTÍSTICA

Es un convento de la orden de las carmelitas; fue ordenado construir por Alfonso I el Batallador en (1110), conservándose una torre, nave central, dos capillas y los grandes arcos que decoran el artesonado de madera; mientras, la cabecera es gótica del siglo XIII, dentro pueden verse algunos retablos barrocos de gran belleza.

HORARIOS-ENTRADA

Horario de 10:00 a 12:00 y de 16:00 a 18:00 horas.

   

CONVENT OF SAN MIGUEL (HUESCA)

HISTORICAL-ARTISTIC INFORMATION

It is a convent belonging to the order of the Carmelites; was ordered to built by Alfonso I el batallador (the Battler) in (1110), preserve a tower, central nave, two chapels and great arches that decorate a wooden coffered ceiling; while, the Gothic head is dated in 13 th century; inside can be seen some baroque altarpieces of great beauty.

The timetable is from 10 am to 12 pm and from 4 pm to 6 pm.
 
 

MURALLAS DE HUESCA (HUESCA)

INFORMACIÓN HISTORICO-ARTÍSTICA

La vieja muralla de Huesca es un edificio defensivo del siglo IX, de época andalusí, erigida sobre un antiguo castro ibero-romano, sabemos de la existencia de varios recintos que trataron de incorporar algunos barrios, la muralla llego a tener unos 2.000 metros de perímetro, unas 100 torres y hasta 7 puertas, pero poco se conserva hoy, aunque la restauración permite una mejor contemplación del monumento.

WALLS OF HUESCA (HUESCA)

HISTORICAL-ARTISTIC INFORMATION

The wall of Huesca is a defensive building from 9 th century, from the Andalusi Era, erected on an ancient Iberian-Roman fort, we know of the existence of several enclosures, that tried to incorporate some suburbs, the wall had about 2,000 meters (6560 ft) of perimeter, about 100 towers and 7 doors, but little is preserved today; although the restoration allows a better contemplation of the monument.

ACCESO A HUESCA

ACCESO

Huesca esta conectada por la A-23 con Zaragoza y por la A-22 desde Lleida; mientras, desde Pamplona puede accederse por la A-21 y A-23.

En el casco histórico se ubican la catedral y la Iglesia de San Pedro el Viejo, dentro de las murallas; por otro lado, el convento de San Miguel estaría fuera de las murallas, pero próximas a estas.

ACCESO PARA MINUSVÁLIDOS

Las murallas solo pueden verse por el exterior, los demás monumentos tienen escalones en las entradas, pero el interior no tiene problemas de accesibilidad insalvables.

   

ACCESS TO HUESCA

LOCATION

Huesca is connected by the A-23 with Zaragoza and by the A-22 from Lleida, while from Pamplona you can access by the A-21 and A-23.

In the historical center are located the cathedral and the church of San Pedro el Viejo, inside the walls; while, the convent of San Miguel is located outside the walls, but near.

ACCESS FOR THE HANDICAPPED

The walls can only be seen from the outside, other monuments have steps at the entrances, but inside there aren't accessibility problems.
