ALQUÉZAR: Es un pueblo muy pintoresco de la comarca del Somontano de Barbastro, el pueblo esta encaramado a un cerro rocoso, creado por el cañón del río Vero.

La localidad conserva muy bien su arquitectura popular, destacando varios monumentos (castillo, colegiata, iglesia de San Miguel y museos).

Parte del municipio pertenece al parque Natural de la Sierra y Cañones de Guara, con paisajes espectaculares.

El entorno natural es muy bonito e interesante e invita a conocerlo con rutas de senderismo. Destacamos las rutas de “Cañones del río Vero”.

ALQUÉZAR: It is a very picturesque town in the Somontano de Barbastro region, the town is perched on a rocky hill, created by the Vero River Canyon.

The town preserves its popular architecture very well, stand out several monuments (castle, collegiate church, church of San Miguel and museum).

Part of the municipality belongs to the Sierra y Cañones de Guara Natural Park, with spectacular landscapes.

The natural environment is beautiful and interesting, and invite to visit with hiking routes. We stand out the routes of “Cañones del rio Vero”.

ALQUÉZAR: Acceso por la vía A-22 (salida 77) y/o la N-240 (Huesca-Barbastro), como mejor método.

Después podemos seguir la ruta Abiego-Aldahuesca.

ALQUÉZAR: En la localidad hay poco aparcamiento, no es recomendable adentrarse mucho. Hay un parking grande, a la entrada (P1).

El aparcamiento es gratuito. La ubicación del aparcamiento recomendado es muy cercana.

Vernur colabora con muchos ayuntamientos en la regulación del tráfico de sus municipios, evitando colapsar algunas zonas, lo que provocaría “Turismofobia”, facilitando a la vez el acceso del visitante tanto al aparcamiento como a los centros históricos.

ALQUÉZAR: In the locality there is little parking, it is not recommended to enter too far. There is a large parking, at the entrance (P1).

Parking is free. The location of the recommended car park is very next.

Vernur collaborates with many town councils in regulating traffic in their municipalities, avoiding the collapse of some areas, which would cause “Tourismphobia”, while facilitating visitor access to both parking and historic centres.

ALQUÉZAR: La zona donde se concentran los monumentos es el (Centro Histórico).

Aquí podemos ver algunos monumentos: (colegiata, castillo, iglesia de San Miguel y ermita de las Nieves).

La distancia máxima en los extremos de esta visita es 600 m. La visita se desarrolla por un espacio de cuestas.

Te recomendamos que sigas la ruta propuesta en el plano Vernur (líneas naranja y azul). Aunque es interesante explorar tranquilamente la localidad.

Vernur recomienda llevar calzado cómodo y confortable, ropa acorde al clima, un buen sombrero e hidratarte.

ALQUÉZAR: The area where the monuments are concentrated is (Historic Centre).

Here we can see some monuments: (collegiate-church, castle, church of San Miguel and hermitage of las Nieves).

The maximum distance at the ends of this visit are 600 m. The visit takes place through a space with slopes.

We recommend you to follow the proposed route at Vernur Map (orange and blue lines). Although it is interesting to explore the locality peacefully.

Vernur recommends to wear comfortable shoes, clothing appropriate to the climate, a good hat and to hydrate.

ALQUÉZAR: En cuanto al firme tenemos (caminos de piedra). Pavimento recio y compacto. Respecto al desnivel es una zona de cuestas. No hay bordillos en las aceras.

Castillo y colegiata no son aptos para sillas de ruedas (fuertes pendientes y escaleras).

La tecnología de las sillas de ruedas ha avanzado mucho, cada vez más ligeras, hay modelos plegables, con todo tipo de adaptaciones, trata de conseguir una moderna, incluso hay ciudades donde se pueden alquilar, contacta con nosotros para añadir información.

ALQUÉZAR: As for the firm we have (stone roads). The firm is strong and compact. Regarding the Unevenness, it is a sloped area. There aren't curbs on the sidewalks.

Castle and collegiate-church aren't suitable for wheelchairs (steep slopes and stairs).

ALQUÉZAR: Alquezar se sitúa en el Parque Natural de la Sierra y los Cañones de Guara . La localidad y la comarca por extensión, ofrecen al visitante una oferta notable de turismo de aventura (barranquismo, escalada, espeleología,), incluso hay excursiones a caballo, a bicicleta, o senderismo. Vernur te recomienda el Cañón del Vero , puedes hacerlo por la senda que en zig-zag recorre el río o bien si te gusta la emoción por el barranco con guías.

Alquezar tiene miradores con vistas impresionantes, hay un observatorio de aves, hay cuevas y abrigos con pinturas rupestres y camping, todas ellas opciones económicas y de gran interés. La Cueva de la Fuente del Trucho es una de las más notables, está cerrada al público, pero en Colungo puedes ver una réplica.

The town and the region by extension, offer the visitor a remarkable offer of adventure tourism (canyoning, climbing, caving), there are even excursions on horseback, bicycle, or hiking. Alquezar has viewpoints with amazing views, there is a bird observatory, there are caves and shelters with cave paintings and camping; all of them cheap and very interesting options. The Cueva de la Fuente del Trucho is one of the most notable, it is closed to the public, but in Colungo you can see a recreation.

BARBASTRO: Capital del somontano, no es muy grande y en una hora puede verse lo esencial (catedral, palacio Episcopal). También muy cerca está el Santuario de Torreciudad, con una talla románica del siglo XI, el complejo se construyó en (1975) de la mano de Josemaría Escrivá de Balaguer, fundador del Opus Dei.

BARBASTRO: Capital of Somontano, it is not very big and in an hour you can see the essentials (cathedral, Episcopal palace). Also very close is the Sanctuary of Torreciudad, with a Romanesque carving from the 11 th century, the complex was built in (1975) by the hand of Josemaría Escrivá de Balaguer, founder of Opus Dei.

INFO HISTORICO-ARTÍSTICA

El castillo de Alquézar, es el remate para un pueblo precioso, realmente es un castillo-colegiata, dispone de una larga muralla, con almenas puntiagudas, torreones, almacenes, incluso una iglesia.

El castillo fue comenzado en el siglo IX de la mano de Jalaf ibn Rasid, en el siglo XI cayó en manos cristianas. En el siglo XVI se construyó dentro una iglesia.

La iglesia de San Miguel (Alquézar) es un templo que se remonta a los siglos XVII-XVIII (aunque sabemos que se construyó sobre otro anterior).

El diseño exterior es de gran sobriedad. En el interior destacan las bóvedas de cañón, hay muy poco mobiliario (destruido en la Guerra Civil).
