El edificio data del siglo XVI, en concreto de (1547), fue matadero público hasta la segunda mitad del siglo XX, en la fachada puede verse un bonito escudo imperial del emperador Carlos I.

El arco de Villalar es un arco conmemorativo de la batalla de Villalar, librada en la provincia de Valladolid en (1521), en tiempos del emperador Carlos I, en la cual las tropas imperiales vencieron a los Comuneros de Castilla.

CATEDRAL DE LA NATIVIDAD - BAEZA

INFORMACIÓN HISTORICO-ARTÍSTICA

La catedral de Baeza aprovechó el solar de una antigua mezquita para su construcción, mientras la puerta del Perdón se data en el siglo XV y es de factura gótica, la fachada principal es renacentista y el retablo mayor es barroco.

Horario de verano de lunes a viernes de 10:30 a 14:00 y de 16:00 a 19:00, sábados de 10:00 a 19:00 y domingos de 10:00 a 18:00; el horario de invierno es de 10:30 a 14:00 y de 16:00 a 18:00, los sábados de 10:30 a 18:00 y los domingos de 10:30 a 17:00.

   

CATHEDRAL OF LA NATIVIDAD - BAEZA

HISTORICAL-ARTISTIC INFORMATION

The cathedral of Baeza used the earth of the ancient mosque for its construction; while the door of the Forgiveness dates back to the 15 th century and is a Gothic element, the main façade is Renaissance and the main altarpiece is Baroque.

PALACIO DE JABALQUINTO - BAEZA

INFORMACIÓN HISTORICO-ARTÍSTICA

El Palacio de Jabalquinto tiene una de las fachadas más emblemáticas de estilo gótico flamígero de Andalucía, tiene decoración de pináculos, escudos y puntas de diamante, enmarcadas por 2 contrafuertes cilíndricas; mientras, la puerta es un arco conopial de tipología gótica, dentro lo más sobresaliente es el espectacular patio renacentista de doble arcada de columnas de mármol, así como la monumental escalera barroca. Hoy en día este edificio forma parte de la Universidad Internacional de Andalucía.

PALACE OF JABALQUINTO - BAEZA

HISTORICAL-ARTISTIC INFORMATION

The palace of Jabalquinto has one of the most emblematic façades of Gothic style of Andalusia, it emphasizes the decoration of pinnacles, shields and diamond points, framed by 2 cylindrical buttresses; while the door is a conopial arch of Gothic typology, inside the most outstanding is the nice Renaissance courtyard with double arcade of marble columns, as well as the monumental Baroque staircase. Today this building is part of the International University of Andalusia.

IGLESIA DE SANTA CRUZ- BAEZA

INFORMACIÓN HISTORICO-ARTÍSTICA

Ejecutada en estilo románico es una rareza de este estilo en Andalucía, la iglesia de la Santa Cruz fue construida en el siglo XII y en su portada podemos ver las arquivoltas típicas del románico; la cabecera tiene ábside semicircular y bóveda de cañón.

Horario de lunes a sábado de 11:00 a 13:00 y de 16:00 a 18:00, domingos y festivos es de 12:00 a 14:00.
   

CHURCH OF SANTA CRUZ - BAEZA

HISTORICAL-ARTISTIC INFORMATION

Executed in Romanesque style is a rarity of their style in Andalusia, the church of Santa Cruz was built in the 12 th century and on its façade we can see the archivolts typical of the Romanesque; the head has semicircular apse and barrel vault.

FUENTE DE SANTA MARÍA - BAEZA

INFORMACIÓN HISTORICO-ARTÍSTICA

En la plaza de Santa María, junto a la catedral podemos admirar esta bonita fuente, esta fuente data del siglo XVI, en concreto se erigió en (1564) y conmemoraba la llegada del agua a la ciudad, consta de 4 columnas con un arco que soporta un frontón con los escudos municipal y el de la corona.

TORREÓN DE ALIATARES - BAEZA

INFORMACIÓN HISTORICO-ARTÍSTICA

La torre de los Aliatares es uno de los torreones de la antigua fortaleza musulmana, data del siglo XII, el resto de la muralla apenas se conserva pues fue demolida por orden de Isabel la Católica; mide 25 metros de altura y el reloj pertenece al siglo XIX, ha sido restaurada en el siglo XX.

TOWER OF ALIATARES - BAEZA

HISTORICAL-ARTISTIC INFORMATION

The tower of the Aliatares is one of the towers of the Muslim fortress, dates from 12 th c, the rest of the wall hardly is preserved, because was demolished by order of Isabel the Catholic; has 25 m (82 ft) height and the clock belongs to the 19 th century, has been restored in the 20 th century.

PUERTA DE ÚBEDA- BAEZA

INFORMACIÓN HISTORICO-ARTÍSTICA

La puerta de Úbeda es una gran torre de época almohade, del siglo XII, formaba parte de la muralla que rodeaba Baeza, estaba unida por un puente a otra torre llamada “El Torico”, en la torre podemos admirar el escudo de los Reyes Católicos.

Horario de verano de 10:00 a 14:00 y de 17:00 a 19:00 h. y el horario de invierno s de 10:00 a 14:00 y de 16:30 a 18:30 h.
   

DOOR OF ÚBEDA - BAEZA

HISTORICAL-ARTISTIC INFORMATION

The door of Úbeda is a large Almohad period tower, dating from the 12 th century, was part of the wall that surrounded Baeza, was connected for a bridge to another tower called “El Torico”, in the tower we can admire the shield of the Catholic Monarchs.

AYUNTAMIENTO - BAEZA

INFORMACIÓN HISTORICO-ARTÍSTICA

El ayuntamiento es un edificio del siglo XVI, es un edificio plateresco que también albergo la Cárcel y la Casa del Corregidor, dispone de 2 plantas, divididas por un entablamento, sobresaliendo en el plano heráldico el escudo del rey Felipe II; así como, los escudos de Baeza y el del corregidor Don Juan de Borja.

TOWN HALL - BAEZA

HISTORICAL-ARTISTIC INFORMATION

The town hall is a building of the 16 th century, is a Plateresque building that also houses the Prison and the House of the Corregidor, has 2 floors, divided by an entablature, standing out the heraldic plane, the shield of the King Felipe II; as well as the shields of Baeza and the shield of the corregidor Don Juan de Borja.

ACCESO A BAEZA

ACCESO

Por la A-4 (carretera de Andalucía entre Madrid y Cádiz), en concreto desde Bailen puede accederse a Baeza por la A-32; desde Jaén y Granada el acceso se realiza por la A-316. Todos los monumentos se ubican en el centro de la ciudad.

ACCESO PARA MINUSVÁLIDOS

Acceso factible para usuarios de sillas de ruedas a la fuente de Santa María, a la fuente de los leones, al arco de Villalar; también al exterior de las antiguas carnicerías, al Ayuntamiento y al torreón de los Aliatares; tan solo a algunas estancias de la catedral y del Palacio de Jabalquinto; pero no podrás acceder con silla de ruedas al interior de la Puerta de Úbeda.

   

ACCESS TO BAEZA

LOCATION

From the A-4 (Andalusia road betwween Madrid and Cádiz), just from Bailen you can get to Baeza by the A-32, from Jaén and Granada the access is made by the A-316. All the monuments are in the center of the city.

ACCESS FOR THE HANDICAPPED

Access suitable for wheelchair users to fountain of Santa María, to fountain of the lions, to arch of Villalar; also to the outside of the Old butchery, to the Town hall and the tower of Aliatares; only to some rooms of the cathedral and the Palace of Jabalquinto; but you can't access with wheelchair inside the Door of Ubeda.
