CASTILLO DE COYANZA (VALENCIA DE DON JUAN)

INFORMACIÓN HISTÓRICO-ARTÍSTICA

El castillo de Coyanza se data en los siglos XII-XV; en el siglo XV los condes de Valencia, de la familia Acuña erigieron los principales muros que hoy se conservan. El castillo tiene foso, un antemuro, una alta muralla con almenas y torre de homenaje.

ENTRADAS Y HORARIOS

Horario de invierno de martes a viernes (16:00-18:00), en festivos y fines de semana es de 12:00-14:00 y 16:00-18:00, cerrando el lunes. Horario de verano (julio-agosto) es de lunes a domingo de 11:00-13:00 y de 17:30-19:30. Las visitas son guiadas, con guía y la entrada es gratuita.

COYANZA'S CASTLE (VALENCIA DE DON JUAN)

The castle of Coyanza date of 12 th and 15 th c., precisely in the 15 th century, the counts of Valencia, of Acuña's family erected the main walls that are preserved today. The castle has a moat, a barrier, a high wall with battlements and a keep.

Summer timetable (July-August) is from Monday to Sunday from 11 am to 1 pm and from 5,30 pm to 7,30 pm. Visits are guided, with guide and admission is free.

CIUDAD DE LANCIA (VILLASABARIEGO)

INFORMACIÓN HISTÓRICO-ARTÍSTICA

Legendario castro astur ocupado después por los romanos. Los astures construyeron cabañas de adobe y después los romanos construyeron múltiples viviendas, termas, y un mercado todo de piedra. Cronología, del Bronce, Hierro y Romana (s. I a.C. a V d.C.). Yacimiento descuidado, invadido de plantas.

ENTRADAS Y HORARIOS

Yacimiento en un estado de abandono muy grave, vallado y cartel oxidado, solo es visitable desde el exterior.

LANCIA'S CITY (VILLASABARIEGO)

HISTORICAL-ARTISTIC INFORMATION

It is a legendary astur hillfort later occupied by the Romans. The Astures built their adobe huts and then the Romans built multiple huts, baths, a market etc... all made of stone. Chronology of Bronze, Iron, and Roman (1 st century BC to 5 th AD.). Very neglected site, even no cleaned of plants.

The site has a serious abandonment state, fencing and signpost is rusty, it is only visitable from the outside.

IGLESIA DE SAN MIGUEL DE ESCALADA

La Iglesia de San Miguel (San Miguel de Escalada) es de cronología mozárabe, del siglo X (con elementos del siglo XI y XII). Es una iglesia que hace extenso uso del arco de herradura evolucionado, típico del arte mozárabe. Muy recomendable es la visita al monasterio de Santa María la Real de Gradefes.

ENTRADAS Y HORARIOS

Horario de verano (abril-septiembre) de martes a domingo de 10:00-14:00 y de 16:30-19:30, y horario de invierno de martes a domingo de 10:40-14:00 y de 16:00-17:50. La entrada a San Miguel de Escalada es gratuita.

CHURCH OF SAN MIGUEL DE ESCALADA

HISTORICAL-ARTISTIC INFORMATION

The church of San Miguel (San Miguel de Escalada) is a Mozarabic chronology, from the 10 th century (with elements of 11 th and 12 th c). It is a church that makes extensive use of the evolved horseshoe arch, typical of the Mozarabic art. Highly recommended is the visit to the monastery of Santa Maria la Real de Gradefes.

ACCESO A ENCLAVES DEL PÁRAMO

UBICACIÓN

LANCIA: Se ubica en Villasabariego, pueblo muy próximo a León capital, desde este pueblo tienes cartelería para acceder al enclave con pistas de tierra de estado deficiente

SAN MIGUEL: El acceso más común se realiza a través de la N-601 desde León, cuando se llega a Villarente hay que coger la LE-213, dirección a Gradefes, hasta encontrar el desvío que lleva al pueblo de San Miguel de Escalada.

VALENCIA D.J.: Valencia de Don Juan es un pueblo localizado al sur de León se accede por la N-630.

ACCESS TO SITES-CAMPOS DE LEÓN

LOCATION

LANCIA: Located in Villasabariego, a town very close to León capital, from this town you have signage to access the archaeological site, by dirt tracks of poor state.

SAN MIGUEL: The most common access is through the N-601 from León when you reach Villarente yo have to take the LE-213, direction Gradefes, until you find the turnoff that go to the village of San Miguel de Escalada.

VALENCIA D.J.: Valencia de Don Juan is a town located south of León is accessed by the N-630.

LANCIA: Visita desde la verja perimetral para todos los visitantes.

SAN MIGUEL: Tiene solo un par de escalones en el acceso.

VALENCIA D.J.: Para usuarios de silla de rueda, se puede entrar pero no subir a la torre de homenaje.

GRADEFES: Hay muy pocas barreras arquitectónicas tan solo algún que otro escalón. Portón ancho.

VILLAPADIERNA: Acceso no factible, área en ruinas y matorral denso (vegetación).

CISTIERNA: Contacto 987.700.002 y 638.025.850.

El monasterio de Santa María de Gradefes, es un edificio cisterciense del siglo XII, en el interior destaca la cabecera, con bóveda de nervios que se conectan en las columnas (siglo XII), después continuaron las obras en 3 fases, del siglo XIV son las bóvedas de la girola; mientras a la tercera fase del siglo XVII pertenece la ampliación de la nave central, epístola y coro.

HORARIOS- ENTRADA

Visitas a la iglesia (9:00 a 21:00) y al claustro (sábados y domingos cada media hora de 10:30 a 12:30 y 16:00-19:30) (horarios 2017).

MONASTERY OF Sª MARIA (GRADEFES)

HISTORICAL-ARTISTIC INFORMATION

The monastery of Santa María de Gradefes, is a Cistercian building of the 12 th century, inside highlights the head, with vault of nerves that connect in the columns (12 th century), then continued the work in 3 phases, from the 14 th century are the vaults of the ambulatory; while from the 3 rd phase of the 17th century we have the enlargement of the central nave, epistle and choir.

El castillo de Villapadierna es un pequeño castillo, data del siglo XV, es de estilo gótico, aunque puede haberse iniciado en épocas más remotas; tiene torre de homenaje cuadrada, con sillería y sillarejo; el edificio se encuentra en ruina y abandonado, Hay una interesante fuente romana y una iglesia en el pueblo.

The castle of Villapadierna is a small castle dating from the XV century, it is of Gothic style, although it may have begun in more remote times; it has a square tribute tower, with ashlar masonry and rubblework masonry; the building is ruined and abandoned. There are an interesting Roman fountain and a church in the village.
