MINAS ROMANA DE LAS MEDULAS

INFORMACIÓN HISTÓRICO-ARTÍSTICA

La UNESCO declaró Las Médulas Patrimonio de la Humanidad en (1997). Las Medulas es un paisaje natural modelado por una explotación masiva de los yacimientos auríferos en época romana, que ha producido un original paisaje artificial. El impacto de la minería romana desde el punto de vista arqueológico se plasma en canales, vaciados mineros y acumulaciones de estériles. Investigaciones lideradas por F. Javier Sánchez Palencia del CSIC.

ENTRADAS Y HORARIOS

Tiene Aula Arqueológica (tarifa 2 €). El horario de invierno (octubre-marzo) es de 10:00-14:00 (lunes-viernes) de 10:00-13:30 y 15:30-18:00 (sábados) y 10:00-14:00 (domingos) y el horario de verano es de 10:00-13:30 y 16:00-20:00 h. ROMAN MINES OF LAS MEDULAS

HISTORICAL-ARTISTIC INFORMATION

UNESCO declared Las Medulas a World Heritage Site in (1997). Las Medulas is a natural landscape modeled by a massive exploitation of the gold deposits in Roman times, which has produced an original artificial landscape. The impact of Roman minig from the Archaeological point of view is reflected in channels, mining drains and sterile accumulations. Researchs managed by F. Javier Sánchez Palencia of CSIC.

TICKETS AND TIMETABLE

There are Archaeological Point (Rate € 2). The winter timetable (October-March) is from 10 am to 2 pm (Monday-Friday) from 10 am to 1,30 pm and 3,30 pm to 1 pm (Saturdays) and 10 am to 2 pm (Sundays) and the summer timetable is 10 am-1 pm and 4 pm – 8 pm. CASTRO DE BORRENES

INFORMACIÓN HISTÓRICO-ARTÍSTICA

Es un castro astur, datado hacia el siglo I a.C., se conservan algunos lienzos de muralla y algunas viviendas cuadrangulares, todo construido en mampostería de piedra.

HILLFORT OF BORRENES

HISTORICAL-ARTISTIC INFORMATION

It is an astur hillfort, dating to the 1 st century BC, some walls paintings and some square houses are preserved, all built in stone masonry.

TICKETS AND TIMETABLE

No fenced, free access, without timetable or tickets.

		UBICACIÓN MEDULAS: Se puede acceder por Carucedo o por Puente de Domingo Florez (ambas pueblos en la N-536); incluso desde Ponferrada se puede acceder en transporte público. BORRENES: Desde Borrenes (en la N-536 Ponferrada-Puente de Domingo Flórez), coger la carretera de La Chana, tras unos 500 m. llegarás al cementerio y allí existe cartelería, la pista no es óptima. ACCESO PARA MUNSVALIDOS MEDULAS: El acceso al mirador de Orellán es excelente con rampas que permiten acceder al punto más espectacular, pero los caminos tienen senderos pedregosos y de fuerte pendiente, no muy aptos para sillas de ruedas. Personal muy atento y profesional. BORRENES: No para silla de ruedas.				LOCATION LAS MEDULAS: There are access by Carucedo or by Puente de Domingo Florez, both towns on the N-536; even from Ponferrada can be accessed by public transport. 		CASTILLO DE CORNATEL (PRIARANZA DEL BIERZO) INFORMACIÓN HISTÓRICO-ARTÍSTICA El castillo de Cornatel es un soberbio castillo erigido sobre una peña rocosa, quizás en origen fue un fortín romano, fue edificado en la edad media (siglos IX-X), destruido en las revueltas irmandiñas (1467). Las vistas son muy bonitas, para la fotografía, con carteles, escaleras, pasarelas y vallas de seguridad. ENTRADAS Y HORARIOS Se visita jueves a domingo de 11:00-14:00 y de 14:30-20:30. Entrada 2 €. ACCESO El mejor acceso se realiza desde Ponferrada por la carretera N-536, pasado Priaranza debes de llegar hasta el cruce que unia la carretera a Villavieja y Paradela de Muces y más adelante aparece cartelería. Dispone de un pequeño parking donde se deja el coche, accediendo al castillo por una fuerte cuesta. ACCESO PARA MINUSVÁLIDOS No apto para sillas de ruedas, por las fuertes pendientes y precipicios peligrosos.				CASTLE OF CORNATEL (PRIARANZA DEL BIERZO) HISTORICAL-ARTISTIC INFORMATION The castle of Cornatel is a superb castle erected on a rocky, probably in origin was a Roman fort, built in the Middles Ages (9 th -10 th c.) was destroyed in the Irmandiñas Revolts (1467). The views are spectacular, ideal for lovers of photography, with signage, stairs, walkways and security fences. TICKETS AND TIMETABLE It visits Thursday to Sunday from 11 am to 2 pm and from 2,30 pm to 8,30 pm. Rate € 2. LOCATION The best access is made from Ponferrada by the N-536 road, pass Priaranza you must arrive until the cross that connect the road of Villavieja and Paradela de Muces and later appear signage for the Castle. CASTILLO TEMPLARIO (PONFERRADA)

INFORMACIÓN HISTÓRICO-ARTÍSTICA

Es una joya del Medievo, que es Monumento Histórico Artístico desde (1924). Destacan sus bellas torres, con matacanes, podemos contemplar las caballerizas, los múltiples escudos y múltiples dependencias. Datado en los siglos XI-XV.

ENTRADAS Y HORARIOS

Entrada general 6 €. El horario de verano (1 abril – 14 octubre) es de martes a sábado de 10:00-14:00 y de 16:30-20:30 h., el domingo de 10:00-14:00; el horario de invierno (15 oct-28 febrero) es de martes a sábado es de 11:00-14:00 y 16:00-18:00, festivos y domingos es de 10:00-14:00; el lunes cierra.

Accede al centro de la ciudad y encontrarás cartelería para el castillo.

Podrás entrar dentro del castillo con silla de ruedas, pero no subir a las torres.

TEMPLE CASTLE (PONFERRADA)

The winter time (Oct 15th – Feb 28th) is Tuesday to Saturday from 11 am to 2 and from 4 to 6, public holidays and Sundays is from 10 am to 2 pm.

Access to the center of the city and quickly appear signpostes for the castle.

You can enter the castle with a wheelchair, but don't go up the towers.

IGLESIA DE SANTIAGO

INFORMACIÓN HISTÓRICO-ARTÍSTICA

De estilo mozárabe, la iglesia de Santiago data del siglo X, es un pequeño templo cristiano ubicado en el valle del Silencio, en los Montes Aquilianos; destacan los arcos de herradura y los escasos, pero valiosísimos restos de pintura mural.

ENTRADAS Y HORARIOS

El horario de invierno (octubre-marzo) es de miércoles a sábado de 10:40-14:00 y de 15:00:17:50, domingos y festivos es de 10:40-14:00, el horario de verano es de miércoles a sábado de 10:15-14:00 y de 16:30-20:00, los domingos y festivos es de 10:15 a 14:00, lunes y martes cerrado. En cuanto a la entrada es gratuita.

CHURCH OF SANTIAGO

HISTORICAL-ARTISTIC INFORMATION

Of Mozarabe style, the church of Santiago dates from 10 th century, is a small Christian temple located in the valley of the Silence, in the Aquilianos Mountains; we stand out the horsesshoe arches and the scarce but valuable remains of mural paintings.

The winter time (October-march) is from Wednesday to Saturday from 10,40 am to 2 and from 3 to 5,50; Sundays and holidays are from 10,40 am to 2. The summer time is from Wednesday to Saturday from 10,15 am to 2 and 4,60– 8; Sundays and holidays is from 10,15 am to 2; Monday and Tuesday closed. Admission free.

ACCESO

La iglesia se ubica en Peñalba de Santiago, es una carretera de montaña, muy estrecha, precaución; pero el paisaje es precioso.

Desde Ponferrada, junto al castillo templario hay cartelería, cruzaras por pueblos bonitos que parecen de otra época, como San Lorenzo, San Esteban, Valdefrancos, San Clemente, Montes de Valdueza.

ACCESO PARA MINUSVÁLIDOS

Para usuarios de sillas de ruedas el mayor problema es el acceso por la puerta muy estrecha (Turismo de Ponferrada 987.42.42.36).

LOCATION

The church is located in Peñalba de Santiago is a mountain road, very narrow, caution; but the scenary is awesome.

From Ponferrada, next to the Templar castle there is signage, you'll cross by beautiful towns, which seem of another time, like S. Lorenzo, S. Esteban, Valdefrancos, S. Clemente or Montes de Valdueza.
