CASTILLO FORMOS DE BALAGUER

INFORMACIÓN HISTORICO-ARTÍSTICA

Es un edificio con orígenes en el siglo IX obra de los musulmanes, después en el siglo XI se construyo la Sudda o residencia del gobernador que estuvo ricamente decorada y embellecida de yeserías policromadas; conservadas en el Museo de la Noguera.

CASTLE FORMOS OF BALAGUER

HISTORICAL-ARTISTIC INFORMATION

It is a building with origins in the 9 th century, built by Muslims, later in the 11 th century was built the Sudda or residence of the governor, which was richly decorated with polichrome plasterwork, preserved in the Museum of the Noguera.

SANTUARIO DEL SANTO CRISTO DE BALAGUER

INFORMACIÓN HISTORICO-ARTÍSTICA

El santuario se erigió sobre la antigua iglesia de la Almatá construida en el siglo XII sobre una mezquita musulmana, aunque el edificio se transformó en el siglo XVI en la iglesia del Santo Cristo, el edificio que hoy vemos es una reforma intensiva del siglo XX, para restaurar los daños producidos en la Guerra Civil.

Horario los laborables de 8:00 a 18:00, los sábados de 8:00 a 19:00 y los festivos de 8:30 a 19:00.

SANCTUARY OF THE HOLY CHRIST OF BALAGUER

HISTORICAL-ARTISTIC INFORMATION

The sanctuary was erected on the old church of Almatá built in the 12th century on a Muslim mosque, although the building was transformed in the 16th century in the church of Santo Cristo, the building that today we see is an intensive reform of the 20th century, to restore the damages produced in the Civil War.

IGLESIA DE Sª. MARÍA DE BALAGUER

INFORMACIÓN HISTORICO-ARTÍSTICA

El edificio de estilo gótico se data entre los siglos XIV y XVI, tiene una única nave que destaca por su sobriedad; cubierta con bóvedas ojivales estrelladas, destacando sobre todo el campanario octogonal, entre los contrafuertes se ubicaron las capillas del templo.

Horario de martes a sábado de 11:00 a 14:00 y de 18:00 a 20:00 (julio al 15 de Septiembre) y los domingos solo de 11:00 a 14:00. El teléfono del ayuntamiento de Balaguer es el 973.446.606 y el de la Oficina de Turismo es 973.445.194.

HISTORICAL-ARTISTIC INFORMATION

The building of Gothic style dates from the 14 th and 16 th centuries, has a single nave that stands out for its sobriety; covered with starry ogival vaults; highlight us the octagonal bell-tower; among the buttresses were located the chapels of the temple.

CASTILLO DE ALOS DE BALAGUER

INFORMACIÓN HISTORICO-ARTÍSTICA

El castillo se protege por fuertes defensas naturales en 3 de sus flancos, siendo solo accesible por el lado que da al pueblo, su gran torre es uno de los elementos más destacados. Se cree que la primera construcción puede datarse en el siglo X y sería obra musulmana, después adaptada y reconstruida por los cristianos.

HISTORICAL-ARTISTIC INFORMATION

The castle is protected by strong natural defenses in 3 of its flanks, being only accessible by the side that gives the town, its great tower is one of the most outstanding elements. It is believed that the first construction can be dated in the 10 th century and would be a Muslim work, later adapted and rebuilt by Christians.

ACCESO A SITIOS – BALAGUER Y LA NOGUERA

ACCESO

A Balaguer puede accederse fácilmente desde Lleida por la C-12 y la C-13, tiene otros accesos por la C-53 (desde Tarrega) por la C-26 (desde Binefar) o por la C-13 (desde Tremp).

Todos los monumentos se ubican en el casco antiguo en la zona alta de la ciudad.

ACCESO PARA MINUSVÁLIDOS

El castell Formos dispone de un magnífico acceso para silla de ruedas, el santuario y la iglesia de Santa María también tienen fácil acceso para sillas de ruedas; pero el acceso al castillo de Alos de Balaguer es complicado incluso para el resto de personas.

LOCATION

Balaguer can be reached from Lleida by the C-12 and C-13, it has other accesses by the C-53 (from Tarrega) by the C-26 (from Binefar) or by the C-13 (from Tremp).

All the monuments are located in the old town, in the upper area of the city.

ACCESS FOR THE HANDICAPPED

The castell Formos has a good access for wheelchairs, the sanctuary and the church of Santa María also has an easy access for wheelchairs; but access to the castle of Alos de Balaguer is very difficult even for trained people.
