MONASTERIO (MEIRA)

INFORMACIÓN HISTORICO-ARTÍSTICA

El Monasterio de Santa María de Meira, es un espectacular complejo que debió erigirse en el siglo XII, construido en estilo románico, lamentablemente solo se conserva la iglesia, el edificio es de sillería de granito; en la fachada sobresale el rosetón gigante, la torre campanario y una portada con arquivoltas.

HISTORICAL-ARTISTIC INFORMATION

The monastery of Santa María de Meira, is a spectacular complex that had to be built in 12 th century, it is a Romanesque style building; unfortunately, only the church is preserved, the building is made of granite ashlar masonry; on the façade stands the large rose window, the bell tower and a gate with archivolts.

CATEDRAL (MONDOÑEDO)

INFORMACIÓN HISTORICO-ARTÍSTICA

La con-catedral de Mondoñedo es un bello edificio del siglo XIII, con elementos del siglo XIV, en el interior destacan las bóvedas de crucería; en la fachada occidental puede verse el gran rosetón del siglo XIV, con 5 metros de diámetro, así como 2 grandes torres. Además dentro puede admirarse el Museo Sacro, mientras el retablo mayor es de estilo rococó y el claustro es del s XVII.

HORARIOS- ENTRADA

Horario de lunes a sábado de 10:00 a 14:00 y de 15:00 a 19:00; y domingos de 13:00 a 20:00. Entrada 4,50 €.

The cathedral of Mondoñedo is a beautiful building from the 13 th c., with elements from the 14 th c., inside the ribbed vaults stand out; on the western façade you can see the large rose window from the 14 th c., 5 m. (16,4 ft) in diameter, as well as 2 large towers. Also inside you can admire the Sacred Museum, while the main altarpiece is Rococo style and the cloister is from 17 th c..

Timetable from Monday to Saturday from 10:00 to 14:00 and from 15:00 to 19:00; and Sundays from 13:00 to 20:00. Tickets 4,50€.

FUENTE VELHA (MONDOÑEDO)

INFORMACIÓN HISTORICO-ARTÍSTICA

La Fuente Velha de Mondoñedo es de mediados del siglo XVI, sustituye a otra más antigua de mediados del siglo XIII, tiene una estructura muy original, abovedada, de sillería, tiene un gran escudo de Carlos I, para algunos es uno de los mejores ejemplos de arquitectura renacentista civil de Galicia.

FOUNTAIN VELHA (MONDOÑEDO)

HISTORICAL-ARTISTIC INFORMATION

The Fountain Velha de Mondoñedo is from the mid-16 th century, replacing another older one from the mid-13 th century, has a very original structure, vaulted, ashlar masonry, has a large coat of Carlos I, for some is one of the best examples of civil renaissance architecture of Galicia.

INFORMACIÓN HISTORICO-ARTÍSTICA

El Monasterio de San Salvador de Villanueva en Lorenzana, es un edificio barroco, aunque hay elementos que podrían remontarse al siglo XII, siendo el monasterio desmantelado con la Desamortización de Mendizábal en (1835). El claustro mayor es de estilo clasicista del siglo XVII, además dispone de Museo de Arte Sacro.

HISTORICAL-ARTISTIC INFORMATION

The monastery of San Salvador de Villanueva in Lorenzana, is a Baroque building, although there are elements that could go back to 12 th century, later the monastery was dismatled with the Disentailment of Mendizabal in (1835). The main cloister is of classicist style of the 17 th century, also has Museum of Sacred Art.
