CATEDRAL (BRAGA)

INFORMACIÓN HISTORICO-ARTÍSTICA

La catedral o Se de Braga, se construyó en el siglo XI, es un compendio de elementos de diversos estilos, así tenemos detalles románicos (estructura general), gótico (Capela da Gloria), barroco (fachada principal); en el interior hay una exposición de piezas eclesiásticas de gran interés.

La catedral abre de 8:30 a 18:30. Entrada 2 €.

The cathedral or Se de Braga, was built in the 11 th century, ia a compendium of elements of different styles, so we have Romanesque details (general structure), Gothic (Capela da Gloria) baroque (main facade); inside there is an exhibition of ecclesiastical pieces of great interest.

The cathedral opens from 8:30 am to 6:30 pm. Admission €2.

IGLESIA Sª CRUZ (BRAGA)

INFORMACIÓN HISTORICO-ARTÍSTICA

La iglesia de la Santa Cruz de Braga, es un templo del siglo XVII-XVIII, mandado construir por Don Jerónimo Portilo (fundador de la Cofradía de la Santa Cruz); en el interior destacan las bóvedas de piedra, así como el órgano y los dorados de la decoración del siglo XVIII.

CHURCH Sª CRUZ (BRAGA)

HISTORICAL-ARTISTIC INFORMATION

The church of Santa Cruz de Braga, is a temple of the 17-18 th centuries, built by Don Jeronimo Portilo (founder of the Brotherhood of the Holy Cross), Inside, the stone vaults stand out, as well as the organ and gilt decoration of the 18 th century.

IGLESIA MISERICORDIA (BRAGA)

INFORMACIÓN HISTORICO-ARTÍSTICA

La iglesia de la Misericordia de Braga, es un edificio construido entre el siglo XVI y el siglo XVIII, tiene elementos renacentistas (fachada), que se asocian a la escuela escultórica de Coimbra, en el interior sobresalen los retablos barrocos, soberbia es la imagen de Nuestra Señora de la Misericordia de José Antonio Gonçalves de (1774).

CHURCH MIERICORDIA (BRAGA)

HISTORICAL-ARTISTIC INFORMATION

The church of Miericordia of Braga, is a building built between the 16 th century and the 18 th century, has Renaissance elements (facade), which are associated with the sculptural school of Coimbra, inside the baroque altarpieces stand out, superb is the image of Our Lady of Miericrdia by José Antonio Gonçalves of (1774).

LA IGLESIA DE S. JOAO (BRAGA)

INFORMACIÓN HISTORICO-ARTÍSTICA

La Iglesia de Sao Joao de Souto Braga es un edificio del siglo XVIII, forma un curioso conjunto junto con la Capela e casa dos Coimbras; de la antigua iglesia (románica del siglo XII), no se conserva nada; la austeridad del exterior contrasta con el interior de pinturas murales, azulejos y retablos barrocos.

CHURCH OF S. JOAO (BRAGA)

HISTORICAL-ARTISTIC INFORMATION

The church of Sao Joao de Souto Braga is an 18 th century building, forming a curious complex with the Capela and the House od Coimbras; of the olf chuch (Romanesque from 12 th century), nothing is preserved; the austerity of the outside contrasts with the inside with wall paintings, tiles and baroque altarpieces.

CASTELO (BRAGA)

INFORMACIÓN HISTORICO-ARTÍSTICA

El Castelo de Braga, tan solo conserva una alta torre (3º metros de altura) de inicios del siglo XIV, en origen el castillo de Braga tuvo 5 torres; la torre es de sillería de granito y conserva aun los matacanes y almenas. Hoy en día se usa como galería de arte.

CASTLE (BRAGA)

HISTORICAL-ARTISTIC INFORMATION

The castle of Braga, only retains a high tower (3 meters high) of the early 14 th century, originally the castle of Braga had 5 towers; the tower is made of granite ashlar masonry and still retains the machicolations and battlements. Currently it is used as an art gallery.

TERMAS ROMANAS (BRAGA)

INFORMACIÓN HISTORICO-ARTÍSTICA

Las Termas romanas de Braga, se datan en el siglo II d.C., el visitante podrá admirar el sistema de suspensurae (una creación romana para elevar el suelo, permitiendo el paso del aire caliente), además podrás ver la ubicación y características de las distintas estancias de las termas romanas.

HORARIOS- ENTRADA

Horario de martes a viernes (9:00-12:30 y 15:00-17:30), sábados y domingos (11:00-17:00). Entrada 1,70 €.

ROMAN BATHS (BRAGA)

HISTORICAL-ARTISTIC INFORMATION

The Roman Baths of Braga, dating from the 2 nd century AD., visitors can admire the “suspensurae” system (a Roman creation to raise the floor, allowing the passage of hot air), you can also see the location and characteristics of the different rooms of the Roman baths.

Timetable from Tuesday to Friday (9:00-12:30 and 15:00-17:30), Saturdays and Sundays (11:00-17:00). Admission €1,70.

MUSEO ARQUEOLÓGICO (BRAGA)

INFORMACIÓN HISTORICO-ARTÍSTICA

El Museo Arqueológico Don Diego de Sousa de Braga, es un museo público portugués, dispone de colecciones del Paleolítico, Neolítico, Edad del bronce, cultura castreña, época romana (de la antigua Bracara Augusta), la colección de estelas y epígrafes es notable.

ARCHAEOLOGICAL MUSEUM (BRAGA)

The Archaeological Museum Don Diego de Sousa de Braga, is a Portuguese public museum, has collections of Paleolithic, Neolithic, Bronze Age, Celtic culture, Roman times (of the ancient Bracara Augusta), the collection of stelae and epigraphs is remarkable.

ACCESO POR CARRETERA

(BRAGA)

UBICACIÓN DE ENCLAVES:

Braga se ubica al NW de Portugal, entre Oporto y la frontera española (Tuy-Valença) conectando con la A-3; la carretera N-201 va a Valença; la carretera A-11 va a Barcelos y Guimaraes; por la N-103 puedes ir a Barcelos y Chaves.

LOCATION OF SITES

Braga is located NW of Portugal, between Porto and the Spanish border (Tuy-Valença), connecting by the A-3; the road N-201 go to Valença; the road A-11 go to Barcelos and Guimaraes; by N-103 you can go to Barcelos and Chaves.

ACCESO PARA MINUSVALIDOS:

Acceso factible para usuarios de silla de ruedas a la catedral (solo hay un escalón en el acceso), a la iglesia de la Santa Cruz ( hay una rampa de acceso), a la Misericordia (rampa de acceso) y a las termas (pasarela). En cambio, no es factible al castelo y a la iglesia de Sao Joao (escaleras).

ACCESS FOR HANDICAPPED

Feasible access for wheelchair users to the cathedral (there is only one step in the access), to the church of Santa Cruz (there are an access ramp), to la Misericordia (access ramp), and the thermal baths (walkway). On the other hand, it is not feasible to the castle and the church of Sao Joao (stairs).
