INFORMACIÓN HISTORICO-ARTÍSTICA

La iglesia del Bom Jesús de Braga es un templo que data del siglo XVIII; muy espectacular es la escalinata barroca; es además un centro de peregrinaje muy importante en el norte de Portugal, la subida por las escaleras conecta con el esfuerzo de la Pasión de Cristo y las fuentes enlazan con la idea de purificación del creyente. El edificio presenta en la fachada 2 torres, frontón y columnas, es de estilo neoclásico obra de Carlos Amarante; el interior es espectacular.

HISTORICAL-ARTISTIC INFORMATION

The church of Bom Jesus de Braga is a temple that dates back to the 18 th century; very spectacular is the baroque staircase; it is also a very important pilgrimage center in the north of Portugal; the climb up the stairs connects with the effort of the Passion of Christ and the sources link with the idea of purification of the believer. The building has 2 towers, pediment and columns on the façade, it is neoclassical style by Carlos Amarante; the inside is spectacular.

El Santuario de Sameiro de Braga, es un edificio del siglo XIX, para algunos junto con Fátima y Mae Soberana forman la Trinidad de los Grandes santuarios marianos de Portugal; como en el Buen Jesús hay una larga escalinata de acceso.

SAMEIRO'S SANCTUARY (BRAGA)

The Sanctuary of Sameiro of Braga, is a building of the 19 th century, for somebody with Fatima and Mae Soberana form the Trinity of the Great Marian sanctuaries of Portugal; as in the Good Jesus there is a long access stairway.

MURALLA DE BRITEIROS

INFORMACIÓN HISTÓRICO-ARTÍSTICA

Briteiros es un castro conocido desde el siglo XIX, cuando Martins Sarmento, un erudito portugués descubrió las ruinas de este yacimiento y poco después en (1910) fue declarado Monumento Nacional. Este castro celta dispone de tres murallas, así como, de un gran número de viviendas circulares; pero en un momento dado el castro fue romanizado, por ello aparece sigillata romana y epígrafes latinos; la datación es de los siglos IV a.C. al siglo I d.C.

WALLS OF BRITEIROS

HISTORICAL-ARTISTIC INFORMATION

Briteiros is a known hillfort since 19 th century, when Martins Sarmento, a Portuguese scholar discovered the remains of this site and shortly after (1910) was declared a National Monument. This Celtic hillfort has 3 enclosures, as well as a large number of circular houses; but in phase more modern the hillfort was Romanized, archaeologists have recovered Roman sigillata and Latin inscriptions; the dating is from 4 th century BC to 1 st century AD.

FORNO DE BRITEIROS

Entre las estructuras celtitas más originales debemos de citar los fornos galaicos, es decir unos balnearios donde los celtas recibían baños de vapor, tiene 3 estancias, una en la entrada que es el atrio con tanques de agua fría, una antecámara y la sauna propiamente dicha; destacando una gran losa separadora de la antecámara y de la sauna conocida entre los arqueólogos como “pedra formosa”, la cubierta se realizaba con grandes losas a doble vertiente.

OVEN OF BRITEIROS

HISTORICAL-ARTISTIC INFORMATION

Among the most original Celtic structures we must mention the Galician ovens, the ovens are baths where the Celts received steam baths, has 3 rooms, one at the entry that is the atrium with cold water tanks, an antechamber and the sauna itself; highlighting a large slab separating the antechamber and sauna known among archaeologists as “pedra fermosa”, the cover was made with large double-sided slabs.

UBICACIÓN

La citania de Briteiros se ubica en la feligresía de Salvador de Briteiros que pertenece al municipio de Guimarães, a 15 Km. de Guimarães. El acceso al yacimiento no es fácil pues falta cartelería en todo el trayecto. Entre Braga y Guimarães hay 2 caminos, debes de coger la N-101, y en el pueblo de Caldelas (Caldas das Taipas) encontraras una gran glorieta con varios árboles en el centro debes de coger la salida por la gasolinera GALP, aquí hay señalización para “Briteiros”; es la N-310 que va a Póvoa de Lanhoso.

Seguiremos la ruta a Póvoa de Lanhoso, se pasa por tres glorietas señalizadas; tras varios Kms, girar a la izquierda (cruce señalizado); se deja la N-310 y la ruta a Póvoa de Lanhoso.

LOCATION

The site is in Salvador de Briteiros that belongs to the municipality of Guimarães, to 15 Km (9,3 miles) from Guimarães. Access to the site isn't easy because there isn't enough signage. Between Braga and Guimarães there are 2 roads, you must to take the N-101 and in the town of Caldelas (Caldas das Taipas) you'll find a big roundabout with several trees in the center you must take the exit for the gas station GALP, here is signage for “Briteiros”, and start the N-310 that goes to Povoa de Lanhoso.

We will follow the route to Póvoa de Lanhoso, we pass through to three signposted roundabouts; then after several kilometers, turn left (cross signposted); we leave the N-310 and the route to Pövoa de Lanhoso.

Llegamos a un cruce en forma de “T” (no señalizado), aquí girar a derecha; llegamos a Salvador de Briteiros, veremos la iglesia y el cementerio; más adelante hay una bifurcación con muchos árboles y un nuevo cartel para “Briteiros”, girar a derecha; subiremos por una calle ascendente, ya sin perdida, pronto veras la verja del yacimiento.

Desde la N-103 es más facil, hay muchos carteles.

ENTRADAS Y HORARIOS

El horario es todo el año de 9:00-18:00, la visita es guiada, bajo cita previa y dura unos 60 minutos.

We arrive to a cross in T-shape (not signposted), here turn right, we arrive at Salvador de Briteiros, we will see the church and the cemetery; later there is a fork with many trees and a new signpost for Briteiros, turn right; we'll go up an ascending road, without loss, soon we will see the fences of the site.

From N-103 is more easy access, there are more signpostes.

TICKETS AND TIMETABLE

The timetable is all the year from 9 am to 8 pm, the visit is guided by previous appointment and lasts around 60 minutes.

ACCESO PARA MINUSVALIDOS:

Acceso factible para usuarios de silla de ruedas al Bom Jesús do Monte (en un lateral suelen poner una rampa) y al Santuario de Sameiro (rampas en un lateral).

BRITEIROS: El yacimiento es muy grande, con cuestas con empedrado (el original), muy irregular, que hacen muy difícil el transito de sillas de ruedas.
