Tenemos una formidable muralla, que rodea todo el cerro. Es interesante visitar el Museo Arqueológico de Cehegín, para completar la visita. Cronología Romano-visigoda, con algún elemento de la cultura ibérica residual. Excavaciones de García Aguinaga y Villarta en los años 80'.

Apertura los fines de semana con visita guiada y pasa a las 10:10, 11:15 y 12:30, entrada general 2€. Se pueden concertar visitas guiadas en el teléfono 628.408.565 o en la oficina de turismo 968.723.550.

We have a formidable wall, which surrounds the whole hill. It is interesting to visit the Archaeological Museum of Cehegín, to complete the visit. Roman-Visigoth dating, with some residual Iberian element. Excavations of García Aguinaga and Villarta in the 80's.

CASTILLO DE SAN JUAN - CALASPARRA

INFORMACIÓN HISTORICO-ARTÍSTICA

Sobre un promontorio rocoso se alza el castillo de Calasparra, el primer castillo debió de ser musulmán y era parte de un hisn árabe, donde se refugiaba la población y se remonta al siglo XII; después, perteneció a la orden de San Juan de Jerusalén, hoy en día esta siendo restaurado.

En la gran torre de homenaje se instalo un gran aljibe completándose el conjunto con una doble muralla.

CASTLE OF SAN JUAN - CALASPARRA

HISTORICAL-ARTISTIC INFORMATION

On a rocky promontory rises the castle of Calasparra, the first castle must have been Muslim and was part of an Arab hisn; where the population took refuge and goes back to the 12 th century; later it belonged to the order of San Juan of Jerusalem, today it is being restored.

In the large tribute tower was installed a large cistern, completing the complex with a double wall.

CEHEGIN: Acceso desde Murcia coger la C-415 dirección a Caravaca de la Cruz, antes de llegar esta Cehegín. El yacimiento esta en el Cabezo de la Muela o Cabecico Roenas, a 3 Km. del pueblo; en la margen derecha del río Quipar.

CALASPARRA : El acceso al castillo se hace a pie, desde el centro del pueblo, por camino con escaleras.

ACCESO PARA MINUSVÁLIDOS

CEHEGIN: Acceso no factible con silla de ruedas, hay obstaculos en algunos puntos.

CALASPARRA: No factible el acceso para usuarios de sillas de ruedas.

LOCATION

CEHEGIN: Access from Murcia take the C-415 direction to Carcavaca de la Cruz, before reaching this Cehegín. The site is in the Cabezo de la Muela or Cabecico Roenas, 3 Km (1,8 miles) from the village, on the right bank of the Quipar river.

CALASPARRA: Access to the castle is done on foot from the center of Calasparra, by a path with stairs.

ACCESS FOR THE HANDICAPPED

CEHEGIN: Access not feasible with wheelchair, there are architectural barriers in some points.

CALASPARRA: Access to wheelchair users is not suitable.
