Las Minas de Mazarrón, son un conjunto minero abandonado de gran belleza, sabemos que desde la Antigüedad se explotaron las mina de plomo, zinc y plata; entre los escombros pueden verse manchas de colores muy intensos (producto de la oxidación de los residuos mineros), así como las ruinas de las instalaciones mineras (pozos, maquinaria, almacenes, chimeneas, castilletes etc…).

The mines of Mazarrón, is an abandoned mining complex of great beauty, we know that since the Antiquity the lead, zinc and silver mines were exploited; debris of very intense color can ve seen among the rubble (product of the oxidation of the mining residues), as well as the ruins of the mining facilities (wells, machinery, warehouses, chimneys, headframes etc...).

IGLESIA DE LA PURÍSIMA (MAZARRÓN)

La iglesia de la Purísima de Mazarrón es una construcción que data del siglo XVII, al parecer es una iglesia conventual fundada por los Franciscanos Descalzos, en el interior destaca la decoración de dorados que lo inunda todo; en el exterior lo más interesante es la fachada con arco de medio punto y su espadaña barroca.

CHURCH OF LA PURÍSIMA (MAZARRÓN)

The church of La Purísima of Mazarrón is a building that dates back to the 17 th century, apparently it is a convent church founded by the Discalced Franciscans, inside we stand out the decoration of golds that floods everything; outside the most interesting is the façade with a round arch and its baroque bell gable.

CASTILLO (MAZARRÓN)

El castillo medieval (o de los Velez) de Mazarrón, es una construcción de estilo gótico, que data del siglo XV, es una construcción de sillarejo. El edificio fue muy dañado ente fines del siglo XIX e inicios del siglo XX, por la actividad minera.

The medieval castle (or of Los Velez) of Mazarrón, is a building of Gothic style, that dates fron 15 th century, is a building of rubblework masonry. The building was very damaged betweenthe end of the 19 th century and the beginning of the 20 th century, due to mining activity.

TORRE DEL MOLINETE (MAZARRÓN)

INFORMACIÓN HISTORICO-ARTÍSTICA

La torre del Molinete (o de los Reyes Católicos) de Mazarrón, es una construcción defensiva del siglo XV, construida por los Reyes Católicos en (1490) para defenderse de los piratas berberiscos. Es una torre cilíndrica de sillarejo y sillería ubicada sobre una peña rocosa de Mazarrón.

MOLINETE TOWER (MAZARRÓN)

HISTORICAL-ARTISTIC INFORMATION

The tower of El Molinete (or of Los Reyes Católicos) of Mazarrón, is a defensive building of 15 th century, built by Catholic Kings in (1490) to defend themselves of berbers pirates. It is a cylindrical tower of rubblework masonry and ashlar masonry located on a rocky rock of Mazarrón.

INFORMACIÓN HISTORICO-ARTÍSTICA

La iglesia de Santiago del Mayor de Totana, es una construcción que data de mediados del siglo XVI; en el exterior destaca la torre-campanario de planta cuadrada, con 3 pisos con almenas, del siglo XVII; en el interior destacamos el artesanado mudéjar (obra de Esteban Riberón), así como el sagrario (Antonio Cano).

The church of Santiago del Mayor of Totana, is a building dating from the mid-16 th century; outside we stand out the bell tower of square plan, with 3 floors with battlements, of the 17 th century; inside we stand out the Mudejar coffered ceiling (work by Esteban Riberón), as well as the tabernacle (Antonio Cano).

ACCESO POR CARRETERA

(MAZARRÓN-TOTANA)

UBICACIÓN DE ENCLAVES:

A Totana puedes acceder por la A-7 (salida 611) y a Mazarrón por la AP-7 (salida 845); estando Totana y Mazarrón conectados por la RM-3.

ACCESO PARA MINUSVALIDOS:

El acceso a las minas es muy limitado, pues el terreno es irregular. No es factible con silla de ruedas el acceso al castillo (terreno irregular) y a la iglesia de la purísima (escalón). En el caso de la torre del Molinete podrías llegar como mucho (con ayuda) hasta la base de la torre. El acceso a la iglesia de Santiago de Totana no es factible con silla de ruedas ( cerco en la puerta ).

LOCATION

To Totana you can access by the A-7 (exit 611) and to Mazarrón by the AP-7 (exit 845); being Totana and Mazarrón connected by the RM-3

ACCESS FOR HANDICAPPED

Access to mines is very limited, as the terrain is irregular. Access not feasible with wheelchair to the castle (irregular surface) and to the church of la Purísima (step). In the case of Tower del Molinete yu could getto the base of the tower (with help). Access to the church of Santiago de Totana isn't feasible with a wheelchair (frame in the gate).
