FOZ DE LUMBIER (LUMBIER)

INFORMACIÓN HISTORICO-ARTÍSTICA

La foz de Lumbier es una garganta tallada por el río Iratí, con bellos acantilados; es un extraordinario enclave para avistar aves (buitres, alimoches); actualmente puede visitarse fácilmente pues aprovecha el trazado del antiguo ferrocarril, en el camino pasaremos por 2 túneles.

HISTORICAL-ARTISTIC INFORMATION

The Foz de Lumbier is a gorge carved by the Iratí River, with beautiful cliffs; it is a wonderful enclave to watch birds (vultures, Egyptian vultures); nowadays it can be easily visited as it takes advantage of the layout of the old railway, on the way we will pass through 2 tunnels.

VILLA ROMANA (LIÉDENA)

La villa romana de Liedena, en realidad son 2 villas superspuestas, la antigua data del siglo II d.C. y fue destruida por las tribus germánicas a mediados del siglo III d.C.; posteriormente se reconstruyó una nueva villa en el siglo IV d.C., de esta época datan algunos de los más bellos mosaicos (actualmente en el Museo de Navarra) que fueron recuperados en las excavaciones de los años 40' por Blas Taracena y Luis Vázquez de Parga.

Acceso libre, la villa esta rodeada de una pasarela de madera.

ROMAN VILLA (LIÉDENA)

HISTORICAL-ARTISTIC INFORMATION

The Roman villa of Liedena, in fact they are 2 juxtaposed villas, the old one dates from the 2 nd century AD and was destroyed by the Germanic tribes in the mid-3 rd century AD; subsequently a new villa was rebuilt in the 4 th century AD. From this period date some of the most beautiful mosaics (now in the Museum of Navarre) that were recovered in the excavations of the 40's by Blas Taracena and Luis Vázquez de Parga.

UBICACIÓN DE ENCLAVES:

LUMBIER: Coger la salida 35 de la A-21 (Pamplona-Jaca) para acceder a la Foz de Lumbier, justo a la entrada del pueblo hay cartelería.

LIEDENA: Coger la salida 39 de la A-21 (Pamplona-Jaca) para acceder a la villa.

ACCESO PARA MINUSVALIDOS:

LUMBIER: Mejor con ayuda, pues es un camino de tierra compactada, en ocasiones irregular, en una ruta que puede emplear entre 1 y 2 kilómetros.

LIEDENA: Visita aceptable con silla de ruedas. Firme pedregoso pero factible.

LOCATION

LUMBIER: Take exit 35 of the A-21 (Pamplona-Jaca) to access the Foz of Lumbier, just at the entrance of the town there are signpostes.

LIEDENA: Take exit 39 of the A-21 (Pamplona-Jaca) to access the town.

ACCESS FOR HANDICAPPED

LUMBIER: Better with help, because it is compacted dirt road, sometimes irregular, on a route that can be used between 1 and 2 Km.

LIEDENA: Feasible visit with wheelchair. Pavement stony but feasible
