CASTILLO DE OLITE (OLITE)

INFORMACIÓN HISTORICO-ARTÍSTICA

El Castillo-palacio de Olite fue corte de los reyes de Navarra hasta la anexión en (1512), fue uno de los castillos más lujosos de Europa. Se divide en 2 zonas el Palacio Viejo (hoy Parador Nacional de Turismo) de los siglos XIII-XIV y el Palacio Nuevo de estilo gótico francés, reconstruido en el siglo XX.

Son muy bellas las torres de homenaje y la del aljibe, la cámara del rey, la cámara de la reina. Son excepcionales las yeserías y tracería góticas de muros y ventanales. Datación en los siglos XIV y XV, se remonta a época de Carlos III el Noble.

HORARIOS-ENTRADA

En junio el horario de lunes a viernes de de 10:00-19:00 y los fines de semana es de 10:00-20:00; el horario de julio y agosto es de 10:00 a 20:00 todos los días. El recorrido dura una hora.

OLITE CASTLE (OLITE)

HISTORICAL-ARTISTIC INFORMATION

The castle-palace of Olite was court of Navarre kings until the annexation in (1512), was one of the most luxurious castles of Europe. It divided in 2 zones: The Old Palace (now the National Tourist Parador) from the 13th – 14th centuries and the New Palace of French Gothic style, rebuilt in the 20th c.

They are very beautiful the keep, the tower of cistern, the chamber of the king, the chamber of the queen. They are exceptional palsterwork and Gothic tracery of walls and windows. Dating in the 14th and 15th c., dating back to the time of Carlos III El Noble.

TICKETS AND TIMETABLE

In June the timetable is from Monday to Friday from 10 am to 7 pm and on weekends is from 10 am to 8 pm; the timetable of July and August are from 10 am to 8 pm every day. The tour lasts one hour.

IGLESIA DE SANTA MARIA DE OLITE

La iglesia de Santa Maria la Real de Olite, es un edificio gótico del siglo XIII, XV y XVI; del que destaca la espectacular fachada gótica con friso de apóstoles y arco ojival con la virgen y el niño; encima de la entrada se ubica un gran rosetón gótico que ilumina el templo; un bonito y original atrio se añadió en (1432); también destacamos el retablo renacentista, con 28 tablas al óleo obra de Pedro de Aponte.

VISITA: La entrada general es 3,50 €. El horario de invierno de lunes a viernes es de 10:00-18:00 y fin de semana de 10:00 a 18:30; el horario de verano de lunes a domingo es de 10:00 a 19:00.

CHURCH OF SANTA MARIA OF OLITE

The church of Santa Maria la Real of Olite, is a Gothic building from 13th, 15th and 16th centuries: we emphasize the spectacular Gothic façade with a apostles frieze and a ogival arch with the virgin and the child; above of the façade is located the big rose window that light the temple; a beautiful and original atrium was added in (1432); also emphasize the Renaissance altarpiece with 28 oil pictures of Pedro de Aponte.

VISIT: The general rate is € 3,50; the timetable in winter is from Monday to Friday is 10 am to 6 pm and weekend from 10 am to 6,30; the summer timetable from Monday to Sunday is from 10 am to 7 pm.

PALACIO VIEJO (OLITE)

El palacio Viejo de Olite, es un palacio medieval. De planta cuadrada, de sillarejo, fortificado con torres; aún conserva almenas y matacanes. Los arcos ojivales delatan su cronología gótica de los siglos XIV y XV, de tiempos de Carlos III el Noble, rey de Navarra; En la actualidad es Parador Nacional de Turismo.

OLD PALACE (OLITE)

HISTORICAL-ARTISTIC INFORMATION

The Old Palace of Olite, is a medieval palace. Os square plan, of rubblework masonry, fortified with towers; it still preserves battlements and machicolations. Ogival arches reveal their Gothic chronology of the 14 th and 15 th centuries, from the time of Carlos III el Noble, king of Navarre; it is currently a National Tourism Parador.

IGLESIA DE SAN PEDRO (OLITE)

La Iglesia de San Pedro de Olite es una mezcla de estilos, comenzó a construirse en el siglo XII, sobresaliendo la fachada románica, y el claustro románico del siglo XIII; pero tiene además elementos góticos y barrocos; la torre de 52 m. es de estilo gótico, dentro la talla de Santiago también es gótica.

Horario de misas domingos y festivos a las 10:00 y 12:30. Entrada gratuita.

SAN PEDRO CHURCH (OLITE)

The church of San Pedro of Olite is a mixture of styles, began to be built in the 12 th century, stand out the Romanesque facade and the Romanesque cloister of the 13 th century; but is also has Gothic and Baroque elements; the tower of 52 m. It is Gothic style, inside the carving of Santiago is also Gothic.

INFORMACIÓN HISTORICO-ARTÍSTICA

La iglesia de Santa Maria de Tafalla, data del siglo XVIII, por tanto es de estilo barroco; aunque es de origen románico (s. XIII); construida en sillería, tiene una bonita fachada barroca; en el interior destaca el retablo mayor obra de Juan de Ancheta, del siglo XVI.

The church of Santa Maria de Tafalla, dating from the 18 th century, is therefore Baroque; although it is of Romanesque origin (13 th century); built in ashlar masonry, it has a beautiful baroque façade; inside the main altarpiece is the work of Juan de Ancheta from the 16 th century.

CONVENTO RECOLETAS (TAFALLA)

INFORMACIÓN HISTORICO-ARTÍSTICA

El Convento de las Concepcionistas Recoletas de Tafalla, es un edificio que data del siglo XVII, curiosamente esta conectado con la Casa de los Mencos por un pasadizo superior, en la fachada destaca sobre todo el gran frontón triangular; en el interior albergo un gran retablo que hoy se conserva en la iglesia de San Pedro.

CONVENT RECOLETAS (TAFALLA)

The convent of the Concepcionistas Recoletas of Tafalla, is a building that dates from the 17 th century, curiously is connected to the Casa de los Mencos by an upper passage, on the façade stands out the large triangular pediment; Inside, there was a large altarpiece that is still preserved in the church of San Pedro

CASA DE LOS MENCOS (TAFALLA)

INFORMACIÓN HISTORICO-ARTÍSTICA

La casa de los Mencos es un antiguo palacio, del siglo XVII, construida por orden de León de Mencos y López de Dicastillo; construido en sillería y sillarejo, sobresale en el edificio un gran torreón que se cree pudo pertenecer a la antigua muralla medieval de Tafalla; en el interior sobresale la escalera imperial con bóvedas de arista.

HOUSE OF THE MENCOS (TAFALLA)

HISTORICAL-ARTISTIC INFORMATION

The house of the Mencos is an old palace, from the 17 th century, built by order of León de Mencos and López de Dicastillo; built in ashlar masonry and rubblework masonry, stands out in the building a large tower that is believed could belong to the ancient medieval wall of Tafalla; inside the imperial staircase with vaults of edge.

ACCESO : Olite y Tafalla están en la N-121 entre Pamplona y Castejón (localidad ubicada entre Zaragoza y Logroño). También puedes acceder por la AP-15. Por la A-12 (Pamplona-Logroño) puede accederse a Andelos (Mendigorria).

ACCESO PARA MINUSVÁLIDOS :

OLITE: El Palacio Viejo es un Parador Nacional (acceso para clientes). La iglesia de San Pedro solo es factible con ayuda.

TAFALLA: Con silla de ruedas acceso no factible a la iglesia de Santa Maria y a la Casa de los Mencos; mientras la visita al Convento de las Recoletas es exterior, el cerco de la puerta dificulta el acceso.

Mientras el yacimiento de Andelos es muy plano, con un buen camino, el terreno de la presa es algo más irregular.

ACCESS : Olite and Tafalla are on the N-121 between Pamplona and Castejón (located between Zaragoza and Logroño). You can also access through the AP-15. On the A-12 (Pamplona-Logroño) you can access to Andelos in Mendigorria.

ACCESS FOR HANDICAPPED :

OLITE: The Old Palce is a National Parador (access for customers). The church os San Pedro is only feasible with help.

TAFALLA: Wheelchair access not feasible to the church of Santa María and the Casa de los Mencos, while the visit to the Convent of Las Recoletas is outside, the frame of the door makes access difficult.

While the site of Andelos is very flat, with a good path, the terrain of the dam is somewhat more irregular.
