CONVENTO DE SAN FRANCISCO – SANTAREM

INFORMACIÓN HISTÓRICO-ARTÍSTICA

El Convento de San Francisco comienza a construirse en el siglo XIII; en el destaca sobre todo el pórtico gótico; más tarde en el siglo XIV se construyó el Coro Alto y parte de la nave central, rematándose en el siglo XVI; pero el terremoto de Lisboa de (1755) produjo graves daños en las capillas interiores que fueron reformadas.

The Convent of São Francisco begins to be built in the 13 th century, we stands out the Gothic portico; later in the 14 th century was built the High Choir and part of the nave; finishing off in the 16 th century; but the Lisbon earthquake of (1755) caused serious damage in the inner chapels, that were renovated.

La iglesia de Nª Señora de la Concepción es la catedral de Santarém, el edificio es obra del arquitecto Mateus do Couto, que hizo una fachada manierista dividida en 5 cuerpos, con nichos con santos de la Compañía de Jesús, en el interior los mármoles, las pinturas y tallas doradas componen un programa decorativo barroco de gran belleza.

La iglesia de Santa Clara es un edificio datado en el siglo XIII, mandado construir por Don Alfonso III, para su hija Doña Leonor Afonso la iglesia tiene 3 naves y entrada lateral, por pertenecer a un convento de clausura, sin contacto con la población. El estilo es gótico, con un gran rosetón, de las antiguas dependencias conventuales no queda nada.

The church of Santa Clara is a building dating to the 13 th century, built by Don Afonso III, for his daughter Doña Leonor Afonso, the church has 3 naves and lateral entrance, because it belongs to a Convent of cloister, without contact with the population. The style is Gothic, with a large rosette, there is nothing of the old convent rooms.

Aunque el edificio es más antiguo, el edificio actual data del siglo XVII; es de planta rectangular, con cinco naves separadas por arcos, en la fachada vemos 5 cuerpos los laterales muy bajos y los 3 centrales muy altos, rematados en un frontón.
