CASTILLO (PUENTE DEL CONGOSTO)

El Castillo de los Dávila de Puente del Congosto se remonta a finales del siglo XI, pero la estructura general es del siglo XV; es un castillo de sillarejo, con una poderosa torre de homenaje de planta rectangular- con torreón absidial adosado, el lienzo amurallado conserva las almenas.

La iglesia de La Asunción de Puente del Congosto es un edificio de estilo gótico, datado en el siglo XVI, con 3 naves, bóvedas de crucería en el altar mayor; dentro destaca el retablo central del siglo XVII y otros 4 del siglo XVIII, la fachada es un porche de 3 arcos de granito.

Realmente se trata de 2 puentes, de cronología incierta, aunque adjudicables al Medievo, sabemos que aquí se cobraba el “pontazgo” a los ganaderos trashumantes que pasaban con sus ganados por este puente.
