ACUEDUCTO DE SEGOVIA

INFORMACIÓN HISTÓRICO-ARTÍSTICA

El acueducto de Segovia es una de las mayores joyas de Roma. Sus 167 arcos de piedra son increíbles. Existen desarenadotes en el recorrido, en los inicios el recorrido era superficial o subterráneo, arrancando las arcadas al entrar en Segovia. La datación es del siglo I, pero no hay acuerdo sobre el momento exacto, de los flavios para unos, y de Trajano para otros. El acueducto solo fue restaurado en el siglo XV, llegando hasta nosotros casi intacto.

AQUEDUCT OF SEGOVIA

HISTORICAL-ARTISTIC INFORMATION

The aqueduct of Segovia is one of the greatest jewels of Rome. It's 167 arches of stone are amazing. There are sand-tanks in the route, in the beginnins the route was superficial or underground, starting the arcades when entering in Segovia. The dating is 1st century AD, but there isn't agreement on the exact moment, on the Flavians for some and in Trajan times for others. The aqueduct was only restored in the 15 th century, reaching us almost intact.

IGLESIA DE LA VERA CRUZ

La iglesia de la Vera Cruz, dispone de planta dodecagonal a la que se adosan ábsides y una alta torre, aunque se creía que era obra de los templarios hoy se cree que es una obra de la Orden del Santo Sepulcro de Jerusalén, además de las bonitas fachadas y sus curiosos canecillos, dentro puede admirarse la reliquia del “lignum crucis”.

CHURCH OF LA VERA CRUZ

The Church of La Vera Cruz, has a dodecagonal floor to which apses and a large tower are attached, although it was believed that it was the work of the Templars, today is believed to be a work of the Order of the Holy Sepulcher of Jerusalem, in addition to the beautiful facades and their curious corbels, inside you can admire the relic of the “lignum crucis”.

ALCÁZAR DE SEGOVIA

INFORMACIÓN HISTÓRICO-ARTÍSTICA

El Alcázar de Segovia es un edificio muy espectacular erigido en un espolón rocoso entre el rió Eresma y el río Clamores, desde el siglo XIII es residencia real de los monarcas castellanos, todo el conjunto es muy interesante las torres, el esgrafiado decorativo, los artesonados.

Hay miradores para ver el alcázar de Segovia y desde el mismo alcázar hay vistas sorprendentes.

ENTRADAS Y HORARIOS

El Alcázar se visita todos los días de 10:00-19:00, la tarifa general es de 5,50 €, con tarifas reducidas para diversos grupos.

ALCÁZAR OF SEGOVIA

The Alcázar of Segovia is a very spectacular building erected in a rocky spur between the Eresma River and Clamores River ; since the 13th century its the royal residence of the Castilian monarchs, all the complex is very interesting, the towers, the decorative stucco “sgraffito”, the coffered ceilings...

There are viewpoints to see the Alcazar of Segovia and the same Alcazar have wonderful viewpoints.

The Alcázar is visited every day from 10 am to 5 pm; the general rate is € 5,50 with reduced rates for various groups.

IGLESIA DE SAN ESTEBAN

La iglesia de San Esteban es una iglesia románica datada en el siglo XII, destacando la formidable torre de 56 metros de altura, curiosamente la torre románica más alta de la península ibérica; una larga arquería de 10 arcos completa el templo.

CHURCH OF SAN ESTEBAN

The church of San Estebanis a Romanesque chruch dating from the 12 th century, highlighting the formidable tower 56 m. (183.68 ft) high, curiously the highest Romanesque tower of the Iberian Peninsula, a long arcade of 10 arches completes the temple.

ENTRADAS Y HORARIOS

La iglesia de la Veracruz se visita el martes de 16:00-19:00 y de miércoles a domingo de 10:30-13:30 y de 16:00-19:00. Tarifa general 2 €.

El Monasterio del Parral es visitado de miércoles a domingo en pases a las 11:00 y a las 17:00. El Santuario de la Fuencisla se visita todos los días de 9:00-14:30 y de 15:30-20:30. En ambos la entrada suele ser un donativo.

TICKETS AND TIMETABLE

La Veracruz is visited on Tuesday from 4 pm to 7 pm and from Wednesday to Sunday from 10,30 am to 1,30 pm and from 4 pm to 7 pm, General rate € 2.

The monastery of El Parral is visited from Wednesday to Sunday in passes at 11 am and 5 pm. La Fuencisla is visited every day from 9 am to 2,30 pm and from 3,30 pm to 8,30 pm. In both the entrance is usually a donation.

CASA PICOS

La Casa de los picos tiene fachada con gran arco, con grandes dovelas, heráldica de la familia de la Hoz, data del siglo XV, es de estilo renacentista; dentro son admirables los azulejos de Talavera. Hoy en día es Sala de exposiciones de la Escuela de Arte de Segovia.

VISITA: Se ubica en la calle Juan Bravo 33, entrada gratis, horario de 12:00-14:00 y 19:00-21:00 (Abril-Septiembre) y de 12:00-14:00 y de 18:00-20:00 (Octubre-Marzo). No apta para sillas de ruedas.

HOUSE OF LOS PICOS

The house of Los Picos (corners), has a facade with large arch, with large voussoirs, heraldry of the family of La Hoz from 15 th century, it is of Renaissance style; the Talavera tiles are admirable inside. Today it is the Exhibition Hall of the Art School of Segovia.

VISIT: It is located at Juan Bravo Street 33, free admision, hours fron 12am-2pm and 7pm-9pm (April-September) and from 12 am – 2 p, and 6 pm to 8 pm (October-March). Not suitable for wheelchairs.

CEMENTERIO JUDIO

En un bosque de pinos encontramos la necrópolis judía de Segovia, estuvo en uso entre los siglos XIII y XV (momento de su expulsión), ocupando unas 4,7 Ha. Las tumbas son hipogeos, cerrados al público, no se conservan las estelas que debieron de cubrir y señalizar las tumbas.

VISITA: La visita es exterior (contacta con guías si quieres saber más), no apta para sillas de ruedas.

JEWISH NECROPOLIS

In a pine forest we find the Jewish necropolis of Segovia, it was in use between the 13 th and 15 th centuries (moment of its expulsion), occupying some 4.7 Ha. The tombs are underground tombs, closed to the public, the stelae are not preserved, that they must to cover and sign the tombs.

VISIT: The visit is outside (contact with a guide if you want to know more), not suitable for wheelchairs.

CATEDRAL DE SEGOVIA

La Catedral de Segovia es un bello edificio de estilo gótico, data del siglo XVI y XVII, son muy interesantes los pináculos, arbotantes, puertas de acceso, vidrieras, la sillería de coro, la rejería; mientras el claustro procede de la antigua catedral románica y fue trasladado, bloque por bloque hasta su actual ubicación.

La catedral de Segovia se visita de lunes a domingo de 9:30 – 18:30, la tarifa general es de 3 €, con tarifas reducidas para niños, grupos etc…

The cathedral of Segovia is a beutiful building of Gothic style, dates from the 16 th and 17 th centuries, are very interesting pinnacles, flying buttresses, access doors, stained glass, choir stalls, bars; while the cloister comes from old Romanesque cathedral and was moved block by block to its current location.

ACCESO A SEGOVIA

ACCESO

A Segovia puedes acceder desde Valladolid por la A-601, Desde Ávila por la N-110, desde Soria por las N-122 y N-110 y desde Madrid por A-6.

ACCESO PARA MINUSVÁLIDOS

En el aparcamiento subterráneo “Acueducto” hay 18 plazas para personas de movilidad reducida, el enlosado de la plaza del Azoguejo (donde esta el Acueducto) es irregular, pero apto para sillas de ruedas. Quizás necesites ayuda para subir alguna calle empinada para acceder al casco histórico.

La catedral es fácil de visitar (salvo el altar mayor), pero para usuarios de sillas de ruedas, el Alcázar es el que más problemas tiene, existen muchas rampas alguna pronunciada y algún tramo estrecho (el punto más estrecho son 90 cm.), pero como la visita (salvo la torre de Juan II) es al mismo nivel podrás ver buena parte del edificio, tiene aseo adaptado (SIA) con 80 cm. de ancho junto a la entrada.

ACCESS TO SEGOVIA

LOCATION

To Segovia you can access from Valladolid by the A-601, from Ávila by the N-110, from Soria by the N-122 and N-110, and from Madrid by A-6.

ACCESS FOR THE HANDICAPPED

In the underground public parking “Acueducto”, there are 18 places reserved for people of reduced mobility, the pavement of the square of Azoguejo (where the Aqueduct stay) is irregular but suitable for wheelchairs. You may need help climbing a steep street to access the historic center.

The cathedral is easy to access and visit (except the Altar); but for wheelchairs users the Alcazar has more problems, there are many, some pronunced and some narrow section (the narrowest point is 90 cm. – 35,4 in-), but like the visit (except the tower of Juan II) is at the same level you will see a good part of the building, has adapted toilet (SIA) with 80 cm. (31,4 in) wide at the entrance.
