GIRALDA (SEVILLA)

La Giralda de Sevilla es el antiguo minarte de la Gran Mezquita Almohade de Sevilla, es obra del arquitecto Ahmad ibn Baso, que la construyó entre (1184) y (1198), tiene actualmente 94 m. (308,32 ft) de altura, pero hay que advertir que la parte superior es un añadido de (1568); pero la fisonomía de las paredes de ladrillo, con paneles tipo sebka, son almohades.

VISITA : Horario lunes (11:00 a 15:30), martes-sábado (11:00-17:00), domingos (14:30-18:00). Entrada 9€.

LA GIRALDA (SEVILLA)

The Giralda of Sevilla is the old minaret of the Great Mosque Almohad of Seville, it is the work of the architect Ahmad ibn Baso, who built it between (1184) and (1198), it is currently 94 m. (308.32 ft) in height, but it must be noted that the upper part is an addition of (1568); but the physiognomy of the brick walls, with sebka-like panels, are Almohads.

CATEDRAL (SEVILLA)

La catedral de Sevilla se ubica sobre el solar de una antigua iglesia visigoda y de una gigantesca mezquita de época almohade, la cual fue demolida en el siglo XV, construyéndose la mayor catedral gótica del planeta, obra de varios arquitectos entre ellos el normando Maese Carlín (Charles Galter), su cimborio se ha caído 2 veces, la última en (1888). Junto a las estructuras góticas hay estructuras renacentistas (Sacristía Mayor, Sala capitular, Capilla Real), barrocas (Iglesia del Sagrario), neoclásicas (dependencias de la zona SW) y Neogóticas (áreas inconclusas rematadas en los siglos XIX-XX por el arquitecto Demetrio de los Ríos y Adolfo Fernández Casanova).

En la catedral de Sevilla se conservan las tumbas de Cristóbal Colón y la de varios reyes castellanos (Pedro I el Cruel, Fernando III el Santo y Alfonso X el Sabio). Sabemos que las bóvedas pueden moverse hasta 2 cm. diarios. En (2017) era el 5º edificio más visitado de España.

CATHEDRAL (SEVILLA)

The Cathedral of Seville is located on the site of an old Visigoth church and a gigantic Almohad mosque, which was demolished in the 15 th century, building the largest Gothic cathedral on the planet, the work of several architects including the Norman Maese Carlin (Charles Galtier), his dome has fallen twice, the last one in (1888). Next to the gothic structures there are Renaissance structures (Major Sacristy, Chapter Hall, Royal Chapel), Baroque (Church of the Sagrario), neoclassical (dependencies of the SW area) and Neogothic (unfinished areas topped in the 19 th -20 th centuries by the architect Demetrio de los Rios and Adolfo Fernandez Casanova).

In the Cathedral of Seville the tombs of Christopher Columbus and the tombs of several Castilian kings (Pedro I el Cruel, Fernando III el Santo and Alfonso X el Sabio) are preserved. We know that the vaults can move up 2 cm daily. In (2017) it was the 5 th most visited building in Spain.

ALCAZAR (SEVILLA)

Aunque en el espacio del Alcazar existieron palacios anteriores, el edificio actual es un conjunto que se data en el siglo XIV, una obra de estilo mudéjar atribuida a Pedro I el Cruel de Castilla, con reformas de Carlos I y de Felipe IV. No obstante, la muralla exterior puede ser la original del siglo IX, con reformas del siglo XII. Quizás uno de los elementos más antiguos y bellos sea el Patio del Yeso del siglo XII.

VISITA : Horario de Verano (abril-septiembre) de lunes a domingo (9:30-19:00). Horario de invierno (octubre-marzo) de lunes a domingo (9:30-17:00). Entrada 11,50 €.

EL ALCAZAR (SEVILLA)

Although in the space of El Alcazar existed previous palaces, the current building is a group that dates back to the 14 th century, a work of Mudejar style attributed to Pedro I el Cruel of Castile, with reforms of Carlos I and Felipe IV. However the outside wall may be the original of the 9 th century, with refomrs of the 12 th century. Perhaps one of the oldest and most beautiful elements is the Patio del Yeso from 12 th century.

PLAZA DE ESPAÑA (SEVILLA)

El Edificio de Plaza España de Sevilla se encuentra ubicado en el parque de Maria Luisa, el edificio es obra de Aníbal González y desde (1926), Pedro Sánchez Nuñez y Vicente Traver fueron sus arquitectos. Es un edificio de ladrillo, con mármoles, azulejos y hierro forjado; en planta es un edificio en forma de arco, con 2 torres laterales de 74 m (242,7 ft), por el interior el edificio crea una galería con columnas de medio punto, con un estanque, con puentes y bancos con paneles de azulejos, que homenajean la historia de las provincias de España. Aquí se han rodado escenas de “Lawrence de Arabia”, o “El ataque de los clones”.

VISITA : Horario de Verano (abril-octubre) de lunes a domingo (8:00-24:00). Horario de invierno (noviembre-marzo) de lunes a domingo (8:00-22:00). Entrada gratis.

PLAZA DE ESPAÑA (SEVILLA)

The Plaza de España building in Seville is located in the Maria Luisa Park, the building is the work of Anibal González and since (1926), Pedro Sáchez Nuñez and later Vicente Traver were the architects. It is a brick building, with marbles, tiles and wrought iron; is a building with arch-shape plan, with 2 side towers of 74 m. (242.7 ft), the inside of the building creates a gallery with semicircular columns, with a pond, with bridges and benches with tile panels, which pay homage to the history of the Spanish provinces. Here scenes of “Lawrence of Arabia” or “Attack of the Clones” have been shot.

PALACIO SAN TELMO (SEVILLA)

El Palacio de San Telmo en Sevilla, es un edificio barroco construido entre los siglos XVII y XIX. Los elementos más destacados son la portada principal, la capilla y el patio principal; la portada principal se estructura en 3 pisos, en el superior vemos a San Telmo; el patio esta decorado con capiteles jónicos y corintios y la capilla dispone de 5 retablos que se datan en el siglo XVIII; la fachada norte es obra del siglo XIX.

SAN TELMO'S PALACE (SEVILLA)

San Telmo's Palace in Seville, is a baroque building built between the 17 th -19 th centuries. The most outstanding elements are the main portal, the chapel and the main courtyard; the main portal es structured in 3 floors, in the upper level we see to San Telmo; the patio is decorated with Ionic and Corinthian capitals and the chapel has 5 altarpieces dating from the 18 th century; the north façade is the work of the 19 th century.

ACCESO A SEVILLA :

Capital de Andalucía se puede acceder por la A-4 (Cádiz, Madrid y Córdoba), por la A-49 (Huelva y Portugal), por la A-66 (Mérida) y por la A-92 (Granada). Los enclaves se ubican en el centro histórico, ver el plano.

ACCESO PARA MINUSVÁLIDOS :

Con silla de ruedas tenemos visita factible para El Alcázar (solo parcial no a todos los puntos), La Catedral, el Palacio de San Telmo (parcial) y la Plaza de España (parcial, hay rampas de acceso laterales para subir a la galería interior) y visita no factible solo el exterior para la Giralda.

ACCESS TO SEVILLA :

Capital of Andalusia can be accessed by the A-4 (Cádiz, Madrdid and Córdoba), by the A-49 (Huelva and Portugal), by the A-66 (Mérida) and by the A-92 (Granada). The sites are located in the historic center, see the map.

ACCESS FOR HANDICAPPED :

With wheelchair we have a feasible visit to El Alcázar (only partial, not all points), the Cathedral, the San Telmo Palace (partial) and the Plaza de España (partial, there are side access ramps to go up to the inner gallery) and it isn't feasible to visit, only the outside for La Giralda.
