Écija: Monumentos y turismo

ÉCIJA: La localidad se sitúa a orillas del río Genil y aunque hay algún humedal y sierras, sus elevadas temperaturas le han valido el título de “La Sartén de Andalucía”.

En la Edad del Bronce el hombre se asentó en Plaza de Armas. Los íberos la llamaron Astigi, después los romanos la llamaron Colina Augusta Firma, y erigieron calzadas para conectar Écija con Córdoba y Mérida; los visigodos la convirtieron en sede episcopal. Los árabes la llamaron Istichcha y medina al-quth (por su riqueza en algodón). Fernando III la reconquisto en (1240), después en la Edad Moderna hay una fuerte actividad constructiva.

Écija cuenta con uno de los Conjuntos Histórico-Artísticos más notables de Andalucía, destacaremos, la iglesia de Santiago, Santa María, la iglesia de la Santa Cruz, el palacio Valdehermoso, el palacio Peñaflor, el estanque romano y el Museo Histórico.

ÉCIJA: The town is located on the banks of the Genil River and although there are some wetlands & mountains, its temperatures have earned it the title of “The Pan of Andalusia”.

In the Bronze Age, man settled in the Plaza de Armas site. The Iberians called it Astigi, later the Romans called it Colina Augusta Firma, and they built roads that connected Écija with Córdoba and Mérida; the Visigoths converted it into an episcopal see. The Arabs called it Istichcha and medina al-quth (because of its wealth in cotton). Fernando III reconquered it in (1240), later in the Modern Age there is a strong constructive activity.

Écija has one of the most notable Historic-Artistic Complex in Andalusia, we have, church of Santiago, church of Santa María, church of Santa Cruz, Valdehermoso palace, Peñaflor palace, the Roman pond and the Museum Historical.

ÉCIJA: El acceso principal se realiza por la carretera A-4 (Salida 455 o 450 – entre Sevilla-Córdoba). Ver el plano.

ÉCIJA: En la localidad hay poco aparcamiento, no es recomendable adentrarse mucho.

Hay un parking (P1) en la Avenida del Doctor Fleming (junto al río Genil). El aparcamiento es gratuito.

Vernur colabora con muchos ayuntamientos en la regulación del tráfico de sus municipios, evitando colapsar algunas zonas, lo que provocaría “Turismofobia”, facilitando a la vez el acceso del visitante tanto al aparcamiento como a los centros históricos.

ÉCIJA: In the locality there is little parking, it is not recommended to enter too far.

There is a parking (P1) in Doctor Fleming Avenue (next Genil River). Parking is free.

Vernur collaborates with many town councils in regulating traffic in their municipalities, avoiding the collapse of some areas, which would cause “Tourismphobia”, while facilitating visitor access to both parking and historic centres.

La Línea naranja es el mejor itinerario posible, con 1.500 m. de distancia. La visita se desarrolla por un espacio plano.

Vernur recomienda que no olvides llevar calzado cómodo y confortable, ropa acorde al clima, un buen sombrero y no olvides hidratarte.

Vernur recommends that you don't forget to wear comfortable shoes, clothing appropriate to the climate, a good hat and don't forget to hydrate.

ÉCIJA: En cuanto al firme tenemos (caminos de piedra y cemento). Firme compacto. Respecto al desnivel es una zona muy plana. Hay bordillos en las aceras (hay zonas semipeatonales).

Con silla de ruedas el acceso es factible a la iglesia de Santa Cruz. Con silla de ruedas el acceso no es factible a la iglesia de Santiago (marco puerta), al palacio de Peñaflor (marco puerta) al Museo Histórico de Écija (escaleras), a la iglesia de Santa María (escalón) y al estanque romano (solo entorno). Solo podrás acceder al exterior del palacio de Valdehermoso.

La tecnología de las sillas de ruedas ha avanzado mucho, cada vez más ligeras, hay modelos plegables, incluso hay ciudades donde se pueden alquilar, contacta con nosotros para añadir información.

ÉCIJA: As for the firm we have (stone and cement roads). The firm is compact. Regarding the unevenness, it is a very flat area. There are curbs on the sidewalks (there are pedestrian areas).

With wheelchair access is feasible to the church of Santa Cruz. With Wheelchair access is not feasible to the church of Santiago (door frame), the Peñaflor Palace (door frame), to the Historical Museum of Écija (stairs), the church of Santa María (step) and the Roman Pond (surroundings only). You can only access the outside of Valdehermoso palace.

Wheelchair technology has advanced significantly, they are becoming lighter, there are folding models, there are even cities where they can be rented, contact us to add information.

ÉCIJA: Junto al Parque San Pablo, que se ubica junto al río Genil, hay en Écija un bonito parque urbano, donde se puede descansar un rato, tiene un chiringuito, incluso un club de piragüismo.

La Semana Santa, declarada de Interés Turístico Nacional, es un gran acontecimiento, pues procesionan hasta 14 hermandades.

ÉCIJA: Next to the San Pablo Park, which is located next to the Genil River, we have a nice urban park in Écija, where you can rest for a while, it has a beach bar, even a canoeing club.

Holy Week, declared of National Tourist Interest, is a great event, as up to 14 brotherhoods take part in a procession.

Dentro sobresale el retablo mayor del siglo XVIII, hay que admirar la imagen de Nuestra Señora del Valle, obra gótica del siglo XIII.

Outside we stand out the brick and tilework tower and although it dates back to 18 th century, it uses the Islamic minaret base.
