ITALICA (SANTIPONCE)

INFORMACIÓN HISTORICO-ARTÍSTICA

Tenemos una ciudad romana de la que sobresalen multitud de monumentos, como el magnífico anfiteatro, considerado por muchos el mejor de Hispania, el teatro, las termas, el traianeum, multitud de casas, como la de la Exedra, restos de la muralla etc… Cronología romana, Santiponce fue fundada en el (206 a.C.) por Publio Cornelio Escipion el Africano y aquí nacieron los emperadores Trajano y Adriano. Las excavaciones comenzaron a mediados del siglo XVIII, con Francisco de Bruna.

HORARIOS-ENTRADA

Horario de invierno (enero-marzo) es de martes a sábados de 9:00 a 17:30 y los domingos y festivos de 9:00 a 15:30; en primavera (abril – 15 de junio) es de martes a sábado de 9:00-19:30, festivos y domingos es de 9:00-15:30; el horario de verano (16 de junio a 15 septiembre) es de martes a domingo de 9:00 a 15:30 y el horario de otoño (16 septiembre a 31 de diciembre) es de martes a sábado de 9:00 a 17:30, domingos y festivos es de 9:00 a 15:30; cerrado el lunes. Entrada gratuita (ciudadanos UE), resto 1,50€.

HISTORICAL-ARTISTIC INFORMATION

We have a Roman city with many monuments such as the wonderful amphitheater, considered by many scholars like the best of Hispania; the theater, the baths, the traianeum, a multitude of houses, like the house of the Exedra, remains of a wall, etc... Roman Chronology; Santiponce was founded in (206 BC) by Publius Cornelius Scipio the African and here were born the emperors Trajan and Hadrian. The excavations began in the middle of the 18 th c with Francisco de Bruna.

Winter timetable (January-March) is from Tuesday to Saturday from 9 am to 5,30 pm and on Sundays and holidays from 9 am to 5,30 pm; in spring (April-June 15 th ) is from Tuesday to Saturday from 9 am to 7,30 pm; public holidays and Sundays is from 9 am to 3,30 pm; Summer timetable (June 16 th – September 15 th ) is from Tuesday to Sunday from 9 am to 3,30 pm and the autumn timetable (September 16 th to December 31th) is from Tuesday to Saturday from 9 am to 5,30 pm; Sundays and public holidays is from 9 am to 3,30 pm; Closed on Monday. Admission free (EU citizens), rest € 1,50.

BAÑOS ÁRABES (PALOMARES DEL RÍO)

La planta de los baños es rectangular de unos 8 x 4 metros, con bóveda esquifada, el interior puedo haber estado decorado con arabescos. Cronología de los siglos XII y XIII.

ARAB BATHS (PALOMARES DEL RÍO)

The plan of the bathrooms is rectangular, about 8 x 4 m., with a vaulted vault, the inside may have been decorated with arabesques. Chronology of the 12 th and 13 th centuries.

DOLMEN DE LA PASTORA (VALENCINA DE LA CONCEPCIÓN)

Tenemos un tholos de largo corredor y cámara circular, la techumbre esta formada por una falsa bóveda creada por aproximación de hiladas, con orientación a poniente a diferencia del resto de los megalitos andaluces. Cronología del Calcolítico y Bronce Antiguo-Medio.

DOLMEN OF LA PASTORA (VALENCINA C.)

We have a tholos with a long corridor and circular chamber, the roof is formed by a false vault created by approaching slabs, with orientattion to the west, unlike the rest of the Andalusian megaliths. Chronology of the Chalcolithic and Ancient-Middle Bronze.

ACCESO AL ALJARAFE : Palomares del Río se ubica al SW de Sevilla, se accede muy bien por la carretera de San Juan de Aznalfarache y Mairena . Los baños se encuentran junto a un arroyo en la parte más oriental del casco urbano.

Para ir a Valencina de la Concepción, desde Sevilla hay que cruzar el Guadalquivir en dirección a Camas y a pocos kilómetros esta Valencina; el dolmen de La Pastora y el de Matarrubilla se ubican al Este de Valencina, a pocos metros del pueblo.

Para Itálica (Santiponce) coger la A-66 hacia Mérida, esta indicado.

ACCESO PARA MINUSVÁLIDOS : Con silla de ruedas puedes ver el exterior del dolmen de La Pastora y los baños árabes de Palomares; además Itálica es muy accesible (pero es grande, es bueno llevar ayuda).

ACCESS TO ALJARAFE : Palomares del Río is located SW of Seville, it is accessed very well by the road of San Juan de Aznalfarache and Mairena. The bathrooms are located next to a stream in the eastern part of the town.

From Seville to Valencina de la Concepción you have to cross the Guadalquivir towards Camas and a few kilometers is Valencina; the dolmen of La Pastora and the dolmen of Matarrubilla are located east of Valencina, a few meters of the town.

For Italica (Santiponce) take the A-66 towards Mérida, it is signposted.

ACCESS FOR HANDICAPPED : With a wheelchair you can see the outside of the dolmen of La Pastora and the Arab baths of Palomares; In addition Italica is very accessible (but it is big, it is good to take help).
