FORTALEZA DE GORMAZ

INFORMACIÓN HISTÓRICO-ARTÍSTICA

La fortaleza de Gormaz, es la más grande de Europa antes del año 1000; y es llamada “El coloso de Castilla”. Se entra por un arco de herradura, tiene 1200 metros de perímetro con torres cuadrangulares y altos muros; es impresionante la zona del alcázar o zona noble. Por otro lado, la torre de homenaje es del siglo XIV, en la fortaleza también se construyeron aljibes. Cronología andalusí, de tiempos de los omeyas, con restauraciones del siglo XV.

El acceso puede hacerse desde la N-I cogiendo la N-110, después la N-122 y en Burgo de Osma coger la CL-116.

FORTRESS OF GORMAZ

HISTORICAL-ARTISTIC INFORMATION

Gormaz's fortress is the largest fortress in Europe before the year 1000; it's called “The colossus of Castile”. The façade is a horseshoe arch, has 1,200 m. (3,936 ft) of perimeter with quadrangular towers and high walls; is amazing the area of the fort or noble area. On the other hand, the keep is from 14 th century, in the fort also was built cisterns. Chronology Andalusí, from times of the Umayyads, with restorations from 15 th century.

CIUDAD DE UXAMA (BURGO DE OSMA)

INFORMACIÓN HISTÓRICO-ARTÍSTICA

Uxama es un gran yacimiento con restos de 3 culturas, celtibérica, romana y andalusí. Existen restos de viviendas, aljibes, incluso una atalaya de época andalusí sobre lo alto del cerro.

Se puede acceder desde la N-I por la N-110, hasta San Esteban de Gormaz y allí coger la carretera N-122, Uxama se encuentra antes de llegar a Burgo de Osma, hay cartelería.

Si el camino no esta cortado por cadenas, el usuario de silla de ruedas podrá acceder a muchos recintos con relativa facilidad.

Uxama is a site with remains of 3 cultures, Celtiberian, Roman and Andalusian. There are remains of houses, cisterns, even a watchtower from the Andalusian period on the top of the hill.

LOCATION

You can access from the N-I by the N-110, until San Esteban de Gormaz and there take the N-122 road, Uxama is before reaching Burgo de Osma there are signage.

If the road is not cut by chains, the wheelchair user will be able to access many enclosures with relative ease.

		CATEDRAL (BURGO DE OSMA) La catedral de Burgo de Osma es un edificio gótico con añadidos posteriores, del Renacimiento como la entrada a la capilla de San Pedro, la capilla de Santiago y algunos elementos del claustro; al Barroco pertenece la señorial torre; en el interior del templo hay una colección artística notable (escultura, orfebrería y pintura). ENTRADAS Y HORARIOS La visita a la catedral de Burgo de Osma tiene una tarifa de 2,5 € en verano (julio-septiembre) se visita de martes a domingo de 10:30-13:30 y de 16:00-19:30. En invierno el horario de martes a viernes es de 10:30-13:00 y de 16:00-18:00, los sábados es de 10:30-13:30 y de 16:00-19:00, lunes cerrado todo el año.				CATHEDRAL BURGO DE OSMA The cathedral of Burgo de Osma is a Gothic temple with later reforms from Renaissance is the façade to the chapel of San Pedro, the chapel of Santiago and some elements of the cloister. MURALLA DE BURGO DE OSMA

En el siglo XV Burgo de Osma construyó una muralla de sillarejo, disponía de al menos 4 puertas, pero solo conserva la puerta de San Miguel, junto al río. Hoy en día la muralla puede contemplarse en un admirable estado de conservación, gracias a trabajos de restauración.

WALLS OF BURGO DE OSMA

In the 15 th century, Burgo de Osma built a wall of rubblework, had at laest 4 doors, but only preserve the gate of San Miguel, next to the river, Today the wall can be contemplated in an admirable state of conservation, thanks to restoration works.

CASTILLO DE OSMA

Muy conocido es el castillo de Osma, buena parte de lo visible es del siglo XV, consta de 3 recintos, el interior tenia varias torres, la torre de homenaje y un acceso quizás con arco de herradura, poco se conserva del segundo recinto, y del tercero sobresale la llamada “torre del agua”, junto al río y junto al puente.

VISITA: Visita exterior libre. Zona muy escarpada para silla de ruedas.

CASTLE OF OSMA

Well known is the castle of Osma, the set visible today is from 15 th century, consists of 3 enclosures, the inside had several towers, the tribute tower and an access perhaps with a horseshoe arch, little is preserved from the second enclosure and of the third one stands out the so-called Tower of El Agua, next to the river and next to the bridge.

PUENTE DE OSMA

Es un puente de sillería irregular con 2 tajamares y 3 arcos, de origen romano, el aspecto actual es claramente medieval, permitía el acceso desde el pueblo de Osma al Castillo

VISITA: Visita exterior libre. Visita factible para silla de ruedas.

OSMA BRIDGE

Is a bridge of irregular ashlars with 2 cutwaters, and 3 arches, of Roman origin, the current aspect is clearly medieval, allowed access from the town of Osma to the castle.

VISIT: Free outside visit. Visible feasible for wheelchair.

MONUMENTOS DE SAN ESTEBAN DE GORMAZ

Destacamos el castillo, el puente y las iglesias de San Miguel y Nuestra Señora del Rivero. Por su estratégica posición el castillo fue conocido en la Edad Media, como “La Puerta de Castilla”, hoy en día esta arruinado; la iglesia de San Miguel y la de Nuestra Señora del Rivero son dos edificios románicos; finalmente el puente medieval ha sido muy alterado en el siglo XX, para facilitar el transito.

VISITA: Exterior (Castillo y puente). Teléfono 975.350.002. El acceso con silla de ruedas a las iglesias es más complicado por la presencia de varios peldaños.

MONUMENTS OF SAN ESTEBAN OF GORMAZ

We emphasize the castle, the bridge and the churches of San Miguel and Our Lady of Rivero. For its strategic position the castle was known in the Middle Ages, as “The Gate of Castile”, today it is ruined; the church of San Miguel and the church of Our Lady of Rivero are 2 Romanesque buildings; finally the medieval bridge has been very altered in the 20 th century, to facilitate transit.

VISIT: Outside (Castle and bridge). City Hall phone: 975.350.002. Wheelchair access to churches is more complicated due to the presence of several steps.

		CIUDAD DE TIERMES (MONTEJO DE LA SIERRA) INFORMACIÓN HISTÓRICO-ARTÍSTICA Son muchos los atractivos de Tiermes, las murallas de sillería, las estructuras semi-subterráneas excavadas, los pozos y aljibes, el foro romano (tabernae and templos), el acueducto, las bonitas termas romanas, las viviendas rupestres, la cavea del teatro, no falta la necrópolis celtibérica (Carratiermes) y las canteras. Cronología celtibérica y romana. Excavado por Blas Taracena (años 30') y Jose Luis Argente Oliver. ENTRADAS Y HORARIOS La entrada al museo son 0,60€, el horario de invierno (octubre-marzo) es de miércoles a sábado de 10:00-14:00 y de 16:00-18:00; en verano (abril-septiembre) es de 10:00-14:00 y de 16:00-20:00, domingos y festivos solo por la mañana, lunes y martes cerrado.
