Hay que destacar la plaza de Cantavieja con soportales en 3 lados y arcos apuntados, rodeada de la iglesia de la Asunción la casa Bayle y la Casa Consistorial; en la Casa Consistorial sobresalen los arcos de 3 vanos trilobulados y la heráldica; también existen, otros edificios muy interesantes de estilo medieval, como las iglesias de San Miguel (gótica) y la Iglesia de la Asunción, con elementos de cronología muy variable.

We stands out the Plaza Cantavieja with arcades on 3 sides and pointed arches, surrounded by the church of La Asunción, the Bayle house and the Town Hall; here in the Town Hall stands out the arches of 3 trilobed windows and the heraldry; there are also other interesting buildings of Medieval style, like the churches of San Miguel (Gothic) and the church of La Asunción with elements of chronology very variable.

IGLESIA DE LA ASUNCIÓN (CANTAVIEJA)

INFORMACIÓN HISTORICO-ARTÍSTICA

La Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de La Asunción de Cantavieja es un edificio de estilo gótico y barroco, con una datación del siglo XVIII; se construyó en mampostería, en el exterior destaca la torre (cuadrada en los cuerpos inferiores y octogonal en los cuerpos superiores con remate piramidal).

The church of Nuestra Señora de La Asunción of Cantavieja is a building of Gothic and Baroque style, dating back to the 18th century; it was built in rubblework masonry, on the outside the tower stands out (square in the lower sections and octagonal in the upper sections with pyramidal top).

MURALLA (CANTAVIEJA)

INFORMACIÓN HISTORICO-ARTÍSTICA

La muralla medieval de Cantavieja se conserva parcialmente, pues sufrió un fuerte bombardeo en tiempos de las Guerras Carlistas, construida en mampostería, el mejor tramo puede verse en el sector NW del pueblo, conserva también un torreón (del siglo XIX), construido sobre rl original de planta cuadrada.

The medieval wall of Cantavieja is partially preserved, it suffered a heavy bombardment during the Carlist Wars, built in rubblework masonry, the best section can be seen in the NW sector of the town, it also conserves a tower (of the 19 th century), built on the original of square plan.

El Ayuntamiento de Cantavieja, es un bonito edificio que data del siglo XVI, sufrió fuertes daños por las Guerras Carlistas; fue construido en mampostería y sillería; en la portada vemos el escudo de Cantavieja; en el interior destaca el salón de actos con un bello artesonado de madera.

La Casa Bayle, es un caserón unido al Ayuntamiento; como este se construyó en mampostería y sillería; en esta casa destacamos la portada con 3 escudos en las dovelas de los arcos; también dispone de balcones y rejería de forja.

Bayle House, is a big house attached to the Town Hall; it was built in rubblework masonry and ashlar masonry; in this house we highlight the façade with 3 coat of arms in the voussoirs of the arches; also has balconies and wrought iron grills.

UBICACIÓN - MAESTRAZGO

El acceso a la zona es complicado, las carreteras son muy deficientes, con muchas curvas y superficie irregular. Se accede por 3 puntos:

Desde Morella, (situado en la N-232 entre Alcañiz y Vinaroz), coger la CV-12 hasta Villafranca, y de allí la carretera de Iglesuela del Cid.

Desde Alcañiz coger la carretera de Calanda y seguir la ruta (Mas de las Matas - Los Alagones - Olocau del Rey) así llegaremos a Mirambel.

Desde Teruel podemos seguir la ruta, a Corbalán A-226 y seguir todo recto pasaremos por Cedrillas, Monteagudo del Castillo, Allepuz, Villarroya de los Pinares, Montante y Cantavieja.

LOCATION - MAESTRAZGO

Access to the area is very difficult, the roads are very poor, with many curves and irregular firm. We can access from 3 points:

From Morella (located on the N-232) between Alcañiz and Vinaroz, take the CV-12 to Villafranca and from there the Iglesuela del Cid road.
